This is an awesome build. I like the tensioning solution you came up with. I hope one day I can have a shop like this with all kinds of DIY machines. I just have a TRONXY 3D printer and lots of spare steppers, servos, dc etc.. for random Arduino projects at the moment. Gonna try to build an automated deep tissue massage machine based on a regular CNC endmill but with a rotating rubber ball instead of a spindle.

I use a jigsaw with a golf ball on the end for that. You need to use one hand (or have a partner), but it works a treat.
Use the a jigsaw that takes the T-style blades. (corded is better than battery). Grind the teeth of the blade (duh). Drill three small holes in a line (like 3/32") halfway down into the golfball. Cut the surface of the golf ball across the lines with a dreml, hacksaw, etc. Then press the toothless saw blade into the predrilled rubber interior with a bench vise.
Been using mine for years. Your mileage may vary, do at your own risk, etc.

I was looking for a cheap & accurate CNC table and after a lot of search I found out that the most suitable transmission for me will be by closed drive belts. So recently I bought a small laser engraver and I noticed how they use an open belt and it works fine. Since then I looked everywhere for a CNC table that uses the same concept.
Please tell me how much does your carriage weights? and what belt did you use?
I'm looking for an HTD 5M 50mm width ( budget problem).
Awesome build, I'm happy to have found your channel.

I used a 15mm wide HTD belt. Can't say how heavy the gantry is, since I don't have the machine any more, but it wasn't much. Maybe 20lbs? 30lbs max?
Your precision will be limited mostly by the straightness of the rails it rides on, and secondarily by the drive ratio (ie. how discrete your steps are).

Can't recall off-hand how many teeth were on it, and I don't have the machine any more, but if you check out my first video on LinuxCNC configuration via the StepConf Wizard, I recall it working out to something like ~600 steps per inch, which was totally fine on my 4x5' table.

Got mine from the local welding shop where I bought the torch. Got all in one order, several years ago.

Why not rack and pinion as opposed to the complicated belt design, not being a smart ass. Just curious.

The tension on the belt pretty much eliminates backlash. A rack and pinion would take some sort of spring-loaded thing to do it well.
The plan was to look at upgrading to R&P whenever I got around to redesigning the carriages to roll on linear rails. Never got around to it, and I've since moved and lost my shop (I'm way behind on videos), but this system worked well enough for my uses while I had it.

Could you share the design of your machine?

At one point in time, I was working on putting together more comprehensive documentation, but really, these videos are it. Just work through the video playlist.
The design was really based on what parts I could get, what materials I had on hand, plus winging it and troubleshooting as I went along. No CAD diagrams or anything.
The most critical part is really the LinuxCNC/HAL side, and I did some pretty in-depth tutorials on that and posted the code for them on GitHub.
