Used ones are pretty cheap, but yeah others are around the same price as a nintendo switch lite, so at that point you have to consider the pros and cons. A modded switch is pretty good

@@beniguess6637a switch light needs a mod chip installed to be modded, so I don’t really get why you are bringing that up when talking about price. You would have to pay to get that installed.
I modded my old 3DS XL last week. It was just collecting dust for years at this point. Now I'm playing it every night since I have essentially the entire 3DS, DSI, VC, NDS, and GBA library at my finger tips.
What do you mean they’re cheap? A new 3ds xl is like $200 and doesn’t even come with a charger. To put that in perspective I got a near mint ps vita with charger for $100
you can hear from his accent he doesnt live in the US... you still wrote a comment like the world revolves around the US! In Europe, a loose 3ds xl/new 3ds xl isn't cheap per say, but it's less than $200. For this price you have a complete boxed one here.
New 3DS XL LL just bought one for $250 on ebay... they are going up. And this is a very good condition one with charger, stylus and memory. These are only gonna go up. $300+ for sure I can see them going for good condition ones and special editions only gonna go up
Woah I didnt think it would be 250 dollars, that is a bit more on the expensive side. What do you think could be the reasons for the price going up so many years after its release? Its not necessarily old enough to be a retro console like the NES, so what else could be the cause? Also did you buy a modded one or are you gonna mod it yourself?
@@beniguess6637 I am fairly aware of the space so I am going to be modding it. It would be a bonus if it came modded but the listing didn't really mention that and it's fine if it doesn't. Also, the MSRP for a New 3DS XL was $200 I don't see an extra 50$ being so much considering it comes with a charger and sd card. Also that accounts taxes which were almost $30 and the quality I decided to chose which was the best I can pick "Very Good" made it this much. I believe a eh condition one below 200$. I can say modding and removal of nintendo services accounts to more than half the reason of price increase. The rest would be youtubers talking about it, the library of games, the 3D effect, the ease of modding the device, the form factor of playing on the device and it being a Nintendo product which honestly a lot of nintendo products holds some value. I can see 3Ds models going up this year a little more than what it rn and with holidays coming up. For sure gonna start to see consistent 200-300$ for "good condition" models and bettter condition like "very good" or higher or IPS versions for 300$ + range.
@@beniguess6637 My best guess to why the price went up that much is because of scalpers (prob. some of the 3ds modding community seeing the increase in attention it gets). If I go on ebay and search for a 3ds I mostly find some big sellers with a lot of 3ds(es? What is the plural of DS lol) selling for very high prices. Funnily enough when I was looking for one I put some of these offers on my watchlist and at least one seller increased the price lmao. Even an actual retro console like the NES is much much less btw xD
Thank you for commenting, a lot of the things you said make sense for the price increases like the modding, library, videos, and more. I suppose the fact that the switch still is experiencing price hikes and all during the holidays and other times is really a testament to how good it is.
Yeah a lot of people are doing this on reselling websites, its crazy to think of scalping as something thats done with a semi old consoles like 3ds(es or maybe 3dsi becausr why not), when I usually aasociate it with new hyped up systems like the Ps5 and series X.

I don't mean to disagree with you here, but, buying a pre-modded 3DS or 3DSXL, or any of the "new" variations of them, is NOT CHEAP AT ALL!! They range in price anywhere between about $250-$400 and sometimes higher. So, no, they are not cheap.
Yes I have been made aware of that, and thats my fault for not knowing what the prices were like in the US which isnt where I live. But yeah, other viewers have said this too, and the 3ds are apparently pretty expensive. I think importing offers some cheaper alternatives though? Anyways its still a pretty solid console, though a price like 400 $ that you said would be a bit too high. Thanks for commenting!
@@beniguess6637 A little. There's also the fact that it's more durable, speakers are not on the bottom of the system, has less reflective screens, much better support for capture cards (can easily self install a modern Loopy capture card in a N3DSXL now), has a bigger stylus, placement of the inner camera on the top screen instead of the middle hinge, places the outer cameras on the top shell instead of the bottom shell (better for keeping the cameras clean), has more louder speakers, is just bigger in size overall which is better for my personal comfortability, a more prominent LED that stays true to the original design (for streetpass and the like), all of that among other things that I probably can't remember right now.
Those are some really good points, and I completely missed them and was only going off the looks and lack of 3d features of the 2ds when reccomending it. After hearing what you have to say, I suppose the 3ds has a lot of advantages as well. Thanks for sharing them!
Hey So basically the roms can we download from the internet within the 3DS or do we need a computer or laptop to always download a rom, because since there new rom hacks we love to play. So does it require a computer or laptop? Or can we down any gbc or gba or ds rom hacks??
You can download roms online using a computer and transfer it to the 3ds, as for doing it inside the 3ds itself, I think theres an application called Hshop, which you should check out.
@@beniguess6637 Ouhh niceee! Glad to hear that because all the new rom hacks upcoming are really good nowadays, so that’s good to hear we can play romhacks just the hustle is needed for transferring 😭 As for downloading internally, as you said the Hshop, those are original games being download am I right to say? Yes, Hshop only lets you download original games I think, Im not too sure about rom hacks. Yeah but it isnt really the best experience. Unlike other systems, this isnt just a one screen system which can easily be played in its closest original form with a controller and good emulator. The 2 screens make it so that the 3ds is best played on, well, the 3ds. I suppose its the same for any console, just more apparent for this.
