You may be surprised, then, to learn that there are alot of people who actually ARE just dying to be able to make those types of jokes, or to use the n-word without getting their ass beat. There really, truly are.
This is the second time that I've heard Adriene blame the wife for the husband's actions. Both people in the relationship are adults and no one is each other's parent. It's common sense that you can't be saying those types of "jokes". Just because you date someone a person of color does not give you permission to say things like that.
but I promise it wasn't **bcz they're Black** ...according to bs stereotypes and that's the difference if a Black person does or says certain things, there's a much more negative connotation, bcz of widely socialized racism while both of those women would face Sexism, and the Latinx woman might face other stereotypes - being late wouldn't necessarily apply
If he would've said something like, "y'all may be angry with me but I'm used to it. I have 3 teenagers, so there's always someone mad at me in my house," that would've been a bit better and relatable. Every parent has made their teen angry with them. And if you don't have kids, every person can remember being mad at their parents when they were teens. What he said was just dumb. Let me muster up my best teenage eyeroll and loud sigh. 😒😩😒😩
@Norah Elaine yeah, he could have just made it about family, which would have been relatable to everyone who's married and/or has kids; instead, he made it about skin color, which sucked all the humor out of the joke🤦🏾♀️
Hispanic...Latino... I will not conform to political identity to put their words in my mouth. Before it was “Mexicans”.. we were “corrected” Now they want us to say Latino.. now I say ...still...Hispanic!!!Hispanic simply means people who speak Spanish!!! Stop it!!!
@@takearight. Hispanics are the Spaniards from Spain. Latino is actually more of an honor if you are not from Spain because it means someone who is mixed with the Spaniard, indigenous, or possibly African. As Cubans, and Dominicans, and so forth. Some Mexican might have Arab/African. The Aztecs existed before the Whites came.
My mom use to do that. She adopted me though. Being the only black person in my family until my son... making jokes about me being a slave or a maid and saying my son had too much black in him is why I don't talk to her now. It took some time because she adopted me single, but I will never speak to her again in this lifetime.
I'm sorry you had to grow up in that but I'm glad you chose not to allow that for yourself or your child anymore smh it's healthier for you both **sending you strength and prayers**

These things are more common than one thinks and some Black People stay in that relationship. It's similar to experiencing racism at work. They think it's joke but it makes work awkward as hell.
@Marie Baker Lol Black people should get over slavery, segregation and racism? Despite racism still been a problem in America? And segregation been recent?
My sister on law is a mixed race British woman and married to a white man and they have mixed children. They live in Derbyshire. They definitely make racial jokes, stereotypes, etc. She had to explain the n word to her 4 yr old last week because someone called him that and didn't know what it meant.
The "angry black woman" stereotype, why does the black woman in America of all places distance herself from it? With respect I feel that a black American woman should take the stereotype and own it. Yes, a black American woman especially has the right to be angry! She has endured a lot! It is my impression that the "angry black woman " phrase was formulated as a clever way to reverse and to distance themselves mentally from the ugly truth of their dark history, deeds and their roles that resulted in the current state that the black American woman finds herself in. So if other races are allowed to Express, detail their "nightmare" experiences then the black American woman should and is right to be angry! After all, she isn't going around and ruining other people's comfortably established lives, is she? She simply demands a better treatment and equal opportunity for her too to do what she was naturally good at doing, build a strong society, her society! She has been denied that! She, the black American woman was not naturally a bitter and an angry being, the world in which she found herself in induced the angry emotions. Should we recount her experiences here in America or should we examine how she must constantly work hard just to survive? She gets exhausted from all the heavy burdens she was always forced to bare. Finally, other minority women with far less experience of abuse in comparing to the black American woman is Not labeled "angry" because her emotions are welcomed and digested with ease. But a black American woman's emotions are justifiably heavy because the ones who abused her were weak in the first place and too ashamed of what they see when they must look into her eyes. They project this stereotype as an effort to hide their dark deeds. So to the black American woman, if you are categorized again by anyone as you being angry, you should ask them to give you a reason why YOU should not be. If I may, I encourage you to own your anger! It is then that you find the strength to fight back your oppressors. You don't fight because you are happy, but you fight because you're angry and there is a cause important enough to fight for and YOU have plenty! You will become "happy " when you TOO enjoy the benefits of living just like everyone else but until then let your anger be known! Stay blessed
You completely helped me. I am an African American woman who grew up in Chicago. One of my favorite museums was the "Oriental Institute" which showcased so much of Asian culture. I did not know or recognize that oriental was a slur. You can still learn cultural sensitivity even into your 70's. Thank you.
AND? THAT WAS HER DECISION. BLAME HER AND STOP TRYING TO GASLIGHT PPL JUST BECAUSE THE MEDIA HAS THIS FAKE LIE GOING THAT YOU’RE OPPRESSED HERE. CUT IT OUT.
It was a bad joke! I would rather him make a positive joke about him having an interracial family. You know like how he will never be Ashy, or he now knows how to read someone for filth and still sound polite. Something like that. I personally love Mayo add a little hot sauce and it's great to me. =)
That's why I don't care what nobody says, nobody- love or not love being in a bi-racial relationship, the white partner will often have a sly comment about the black person's race, joke or not or subconsciously it outright.
I don't like mayonnaise.....give me Kraft salad dressing 😋 . People need to realize that jokes about race aren't funny. When you've been the but of these jokes its not funny.

Who would have figured Hidden Figures would have come in first place at the box office? Thank God for Big Favor's. His timing is not ours. But it's right on time. Think jokes about color should not be told...leave it to people that know how to tell them.

Actually, certain jokes are "inside" jokes. Often, not meant for the population at large. Even when others are privy to the joke, it doesn't mean they have permission to use it. For example, I can talk and joke for hours about my family. I've earned the right. However, no one else should try it. They haven't lived it and cannot earn that privilege.

I dunno. My guy is Caucasian . Sometimes he makes a stereotypical “white” joke while talking to me. I NEVER take part in those jokes. Sometimes I might jokingly say something like I want to go buy some chicken, or more specifically chicken wings, and he might laugh at me for saying it, but he doesn’t join in. Actually, sometimes he’ll sorta jokingly say that I shouldn’t say whatever it is that I had said as he is acknowledging that he CAN’T say the same thing. Yeah, being in an interracial relationship should make people more aware of what one should/should not say or do...not provide permission to crack jokes that would ordinarily be off limits.
Why would he laugh about chicken wings it’s food and it’s good and why would YOU joke about it FOOD IS FOOD whether it’s chicken wings or cucumber sandwiches don’t engage in the jokes
@@indiansummer9977 My guy and his buddies love drinking beer while I want none of that. Personal preferences. I’m a super healthy eater, but my vice is chicken wings...he also loves wings, probably more than me. Anyway, my initial post was not necessarily about delicious chicken. What I was getting at is that we are both well aware of stereotypes based on race, culture, religion, etc. As an interracial couple, we do our best not to use stereotypes that are not self-deprecating.
I'm with Mel B. Stay away from racial jokes and stick to talking about yourself when joking. The Angry Black woman trope is infuriating because anyone, of any race or sex can be prone to anger. The CP time trope insinuates that Black people are always late and it's just another situation when anyone of any race or sex can be prone to tardiness. Personally for me it depends on the importance. I'll always be early to work and to meetings but more relaxed about social situations where timeliness is not an issue (pool party, barbecue, drinks at a bar etc.). The oriental thing is some serious ignorance.
I don't think white people get offended if you ask if they want mayo? I don't quite get that. It's no different if you ask someone if they want ketchup or mustard. Are we now supposed to say" Do you want some of the white stuff in the jar on your sandwich?"
Okay now how long has Tamera been married to her husband at this point? They have Mayo in the house, so who picked it up ,has she been buying it every since they got married and didn’t notice it wasn’t being used, has she never made her husband a sandwich? @@niseytimo3107 yeah it use to be a more of a special occasion food is the US too because it's a chore to prepare. But with the advent of fast food takeout and grocery store fried chicken it's turned into a convenience food you can eat whenever you want. Also I travel a lot and eat a lot of different cuisine and I gather most every country has their own style of "fried chicken" by some other name. Taking meat and cooking it in hot oil is one of the rudimentary ways to prepare food that I bet we have been doing for thousands of years if not more. So I'm not saying every single person likes it, and I'm not talking about if it's healthy or not. Just that it's really tired, lazy and stupid to say black people like fried chicken. Yeah and over 50% of people all over this planet like it. I'm black and I like fried chicken, watermelon, mayo, candy, and sex like the bulk of humanity. Its time to retire these tropes which were only ever meant to divide us and not notice how alike we truly are.
@@Churros1616 it is a negative stereotype. In this country, white people don't look at you as Haitian, Jamaican or w.e you claim to be. So they will apply that stereotype to you as well. Either way, it ain't right.

This is the second time that I've heard Adriene blame the wife for the husband's actions. Both people in the relationship are adults and no one is each other's parent. It's common sense that you can't be saying those types of "jokes". Just because you date someone a person of color does not give you permission to say things like that.
Some people don't use their common for real !!!
People need to stop with the CP time. I worked in a office with a Hispanic woman and white woman they were ALWAYS late coming in.
ALWAYS
What’s cp time?
@@susufray3601 cp is color people time.
but I promise it wasn't **bcz they're Black**
...according to bs stereotypes
and that's the difference
if a Black person does or says certain things, there's a much more negative connotation, bcz of widely socialized racism
while both of those women would face Sexism, and the Latinx woman might face other stereotypes - being late wouldn't necessarily apply
when my husband was a Sgt.in the military it was black women who simply did not show up for work--getting thrown out of course.
😒😩😒😩
Exactly!!! When’s your show? I’d buy a ticket! That was funny and true! 😭😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Norah Elaine yeah, he could have just made it about family, which would have been relatable to everyone who's married and/or has kids; instead, he made it about skin color, which sucked all the humor out of the joke🤦🏾♀️

@@takearight. Hispanics are the Spaniards from Spain. Latino is actually more of an honor if you are not from Spain because it means someone who is mixed with the Spaniard, indigenous, or possibly African. As Cubans, and Dominicans, and so forth. By saying you are Latino you are acknowledging your mixture and all the cultures.
But, you are free to say what feels right. Even as a Mexican you are a mixture of Spanish and Indigenous people. Some Mexican might have Arab/African. The Aztecs existed before the Whites came.

So I'm not saying every single person likes it, and I'm not talking about if it's healthy or not. Just that it's really tired, lazy and stupid to say black people like fried chicken.
