How to set up controls in Falcon BMS. How to map buttons in Falcon BMS. Thrustmaster Viper Controller mouse and keyboard buttons set up help new beginner - เกม
Do you think the Launcher is easier?
Yes, and it's about time it was made official 😄
I've used it since it came out.
@@sabre9970 I used to use Target to get my stuff to work properly but stopped using that a few years back and the launcher works great.
Got my TQS today. You had me up and running and flying super quick! Thanks
Appreciate the time you take to make all of these helpful videos!
Seconding this. AP is one of the reasons I'm no longer put off from tackling BMS and getting in the dynamic campaign.
Agreed he makes the learning curve less steep!
Thank you very much! 10/10
I had no idea you can bind on a release of a button. Really comes in handy with Warthog throttle. Thanks!
I’m a tad confused by that. How does that work? Do I have to hold the button down in order to go to refueling and then once I’m completely refueled I release the button? Or do I depress and release to go to refueling and then depress and release again to close it?
@@hammock753 I haven't tried yet, but from my understanding you release the button for another action to happen.
@@hammock753 some hotas and button-panels just work this way .. eg there will be a 2-position switch, but only 1 dx-button number.. if the switch is up the button will be "pressed" state and if switch is down the button will be not-pressed state
in that way, it greatly cuts down the button-numbering limitation for large button/switch-panels
@@hammock753 You use the button again while you have release selected and it will register a release of the button your pressed.
Thank you all!

Thank you, Thank You... *THANK YOU!!!!* Your one simple instruction to NOT use the legacy "Controllers" interface, helped me get past a HUGE issue...getting my controllers to *work as they should* (I'm talking to you Thrustmaster, and your abortion of a release/product that was the original Cougar HOTAS), and getting everything programmed. Having the two interfaces to choose from and not finding clear instructions on the BMS site/forums (they may be there, but I couldn't find them...looking at the typos, etc.) was confusing as hell, so I was bouncing back and forth between the two trying to figure out how and where to get my Warthog and MFDs set up.
I have made several attempts over the years to get back into Falcon 4.0/BMS and fly with an actually working HOTAS, all which ended with me giving up in frustration and disgust at "the dance" needed to get it all working in the sim. Between finances, out of date PCs, the Cougar HOTAS fiasco (bought mine right after they were released in 2001 for about; it worked for about 5 mins out, then refused to stay connected to my still new-ish Dell, or any other computer thereafter), and getting lost in the sauce in trying to program my Warthog and giving up, it has been a 23 year project for me to get back in the pit with a working HOTAS, rudder pedals, Track IR, and Cougar MFDs.
I finally accomplished that today.
Your advice in this video, as well the changes/work by the BMS team to simplify the controller setup, allowed me to *FINALLY* get a basic profile set up on my Warthog, get my MFD's programmed, and get some flight time and a few kills in Instant Action. Getting the MFD's working looked like it was going to be a huge PITA to sort, because Windows 10 seems to have scrambled the DX/USB routing/device order, but after looking for solutions and not finding any, I just tried to directly program the MFD's using the Launcher, and BOOM!!!...working MFD buttons!
With this major hurdle resolved, I can *finally* start to enjoy Falcon 4.0 like I have dreamed about since the day I bought the binder version so long ago...
That is great to hear definitely a fantasy story in the making glad to be a part of it and make it a happy ending. The launcher has been around for a while but this year it was default with the original install of BMS. I got the MFD not too long ago and it was a breeze to set up. Happy flying!!
I feel your struggle man. It always felt like I wasn't far off from building and programming my own fighter jet. The cougar was always a bitch to set up, buttons on the throttle never worked... I unscrewed the box and found a cable not plugged in.
Then again I would need to put money into this POS because the zinc gimbals are unusable right out of the box. But with VR finally here I am going at it again. Wish me luck.
Wish that bms will come with mixed reality one day so you can setup your own real pit to the degree you are able to with the vr Goggles displaying things like the MFDs overlayed in the sim. But I am dreaming here.
@@AllisterCaine That is in the works look up The Viper Simmer he has a pit and is testing AR.
I have a question is there any way i can rotate my camera inside the cockpit with my mouse? Cause I use head track but I mostly click wrong buttons 😅
Thanks for the helpful videos! I wonder which Axis on your TM Viper you bind to FOV+/-? There is no spare one for that. Thanks.
I use the slider. Some use that extra black button switch roller.
What is the "Import Key file" button for ?
Question here: When I am using VR, I used to be able to lock mouse cursor to middle of the screen + use hotas for clicking the cockpit, for some reason it doesnt work anymore and the checkbox in the alternate launcher dissapeared. Did the option get moved somewhere else?
Not sure I don't use VR.
Quick question sorry if I missed it in your video; I set all my controls in the launcher but they didn't transfer over to BMS. When I look over at the launcher they keybinds are still there just not in BMS. Thanks for your help!
Make sure you select in the drop-down menu what jet you want to select. If you select something in the drop-down menu for F-16, it won't transfer to the F-15. Also, you must close the game and restart for the controls to go through.
I have TM Cougar HOTAS setup. I followed your video and could load some things, but when I tried to add the X and Y axis to my throttle for the cursor, it does not recognize my cursor switch at all. Have any ideas?
Make sure that the cursor is not mapped to a button.
my TM Warthog is recognised but i can only use throttle or joystick but not both any help would be appreciated!
Not sure what the issue is. I have never had this problem. Make sure you are using the launcher and not the game settings.
How about adding instructions for the DGFT / CANCEL / MSL OVRD mapping on the Viper TQS
Use the release function
Hi, I am strugging with cocpit view set up. It is way to close from start so I try to use R shift +- and mouse wheal as well. However, Still not enough to zoom out. Found on config field of view max is 80 which is the same R shift+ . Do you know any other chance to Zoom out more please?
You have to go into you BMS config file and change the max zoom try 100 for a very wide view. Read more about it in the user manual page 41, 4.1.1 How to change default FOV settings.
@@AviationPlus Awesome! Thank you, I will try it.
What about for the F-15 -- I'm trying to bind my idle cutoff and idle detent for both left and right engines --
but I only see the option to do 1 engine in the keymapper?
Make sure you select the drop down and look for left and right engine in the keys not the axis.
@@AviationPlus I figured it out, its the "Cutoff release - Left engine" and "right engine" commands. bound it to the fuel cutoff signal button at end end of my throttle axis and now it works great. Just wish there were more documentation on actually binding these things, or the names in the mapper were a little more clear.
Cant find the wpn - fire gun entry, when it detects my joysticks trigger it says its associated to fire gun, but it doesn't shoot in game,
Do you have master arm on?
Are you in the correct weapons mode?
I get the game to recognize the axis I set up, but not the buttons. I'm using an X56. Any ideas?
If the control has an axis make sure it is removed from the axis mapping before mapped to a button.
The only question I have about this is, once I run Falcon BMS, do I then just select the controllers from the UI and then load the BMS - Full key and it will then recognize all the pre-mappings and DX mappings from the launcher? Please let me know. Thanks.
you don't do anything with BMS-Full.key. just use the new launcher, and launch. all should just work.. the generated key file will be named BMS-Auto.key
@@arithex Thank you!! That's what I did, left it at BMS-Auto.key and all was set!! perfectly done!!! Thank you again!
Do no use the UI setup at all. Just open the launcher and map controls from there.
@@AviationPlus Thanks so much! I followed your guide on this video! And i'm now flying as we speak! No more non-sense problems and issues with controls. The great thing about mapping from the launcher is that it saves the settings so no more repeating to re-map. Thanks for this video! Coming from Falcon 4 Allied Force, the transition wasn't so difficult, though I admit the BMS version is so very involved, and it makes the Falcon 4 Allied Force an Arcade version.
Hey so im using the Winwing F-16 stick and base i can put in axis but i get and error every time i try and input buttons and axis on also my t16000 throttle plus the stick does not work when ingame any help thank
Make sure you have the most updated Launcher Search Falcon BMS Launcher on google
@@AviationPlus thx i fixed it
Any idea how to clear the idle detent? I set it accidentally, and now can't seem to remove it...
When you click assign and you see the bar you should see buttons to set the detent and clear it.
@@AviationPlus, clicking 'clear' only seems to remove the assigned axis, not the A/B and idle detents. When I click clear, reassign the axis, then launch the game, I go to the ingame setup and can still see the idle detent. Is there a text file I can clear it out of? Cause at the moment, I have to have an idle detent, or I set the jet on fire at startup (my throttle doesn't have actual detents, so it's hard to not accidentally put it into cutoff at any time after the engine is on as well)
Edit: I've gone into the bms config user file and turned it off there. It now works perfectly, with the idle/cutoff detent removed, so I can now assign a button to that command
is HOTAS a must? ive got a VKB Gladiator which is pretty bare-bones
It's better than the mouse and keyboard. However not as good as a full HOTAS. Instead of using scissors to cut your large lawn (mouse and keyboard) you have a push mower but not quite a riding mower.
fair analogy lol
The diagrams on the post you linked to aren’t showing anymore. Can you fix that or provide another way to view them please?
Seems like you need a login for the link now.
@@AviationPlus Even when logged in the images do not show up.
@@nuhtanyul Fixed seemed like the picture origin was lost. I have replaced it and it should be good now. Thanks for letting me know.
