The law in WA regarding potatoes actually makes sense.
For a long time they had (not sure if they still do, its been nearly 10 years since I left the place) rules that set quotas for the growing of potatoes in the state. The intent was to make sure that there wasn't an oversupply or undersupply and that growers were able to get a decent price for their crops.

There is no actualy ban by law but you have to register the name at the register office and the the oocie clerk can deny a name. There are regulations and list for that.
There ar no names allowed that make the child a target to mockery.
Drunk riding:
You are not allowed to take part in traffic when you are drunk unless you walk.
Riding a bike while being drunk can you get a ban on your driver license.

The salmon law is the UK government's attempt to stop salmon poaching. Because there was difficulty in catching people in the act of actually poaching salmon the solution they came up with was to make it a crime to be in possession of salmon while being suspected of a crime.

@10:56 I think the ban wasn't about elephants in general, but rather that it temporarily banned the menagerie of a circus that was visiting the town at the time. They had problems with the elephants of the previous circus, and the beach was apparently closed because of the degradation of the quality of water after elephants were bathed there.
