    That upgrade to the CNC aluminum gear is a game changer. The line lay on those reels looks great too. It's great to see Penn really stepping up their game for thr lower price point reels.

    The Penn battle III and spinfisher VI are two really good budget set ups. Most tackle shops will have the matching Penn rod for just about the same price as the reel by itself. It’s not the absolute best rod, but for someone just looking to get into the sport, wanting a reliable setup I think either rod/reel combos from Penn are well worth the money! Great video, tight lines 🤙🏼✌🏼

      What do you mean budget setups? Youre taking a $130 reel and mating it with a rod I can find on sale for $110 if you are taking about the battalion rods. I find it funny you guys think you need $300min reels and rods to catch fish. Hilarious. A good budget spinning setup is exactly what's the largest by far seller in USA at BPS...and that's the Ugly Stick. Prove me wrong.

    • @NAUTILYFE
      @NAUTILYFE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Mike_Jones68 I dont think anyone said you “need these to catch fish”. Some prefer to not have to buy a new rod and reel every year and opt for something with a bit better build quality. I actually noted that they were worth the money and didn’t say they are inexpensive. There is a big difference between ‘cheap’ IE ugly stick and ‘budget’. When you compare what you get with these rods/reels vs. some that are $600-800 these are certainly considered budget. I agree there are cheaper options out there but comparing ugly stick to one of these reels isn’t even in the same ballpark. I also suggested the Penn matching rod that comes with reel so not sure what you’re referring to there.

    I’ve been a shimano guy for years. I went to replace my old Sahara I was so disappointed it felt like a $15 nock off. I got a 4500 battle 3 instead and with regret. That is until I used it. It’s an awesome reel. I have it on an 8’ hurricane med heavy it’s balanced pretty good but the drag system is phenomenal.

    Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

    I currently own a 2500 and a 3000 Penn battle 3. I'm considering purchasing a 1000 or another 2500 to go with a 7' light temple fork outfitters rod. It's about a $10 difference between them price wise where I shop. Planning on using this setup in both freshwater and saltwater so may end up getting the 2500 just for the extra line capacity and drag.
