    I totally agree with Marc Wert ( one below) and I quote: "when showing locations or connections don’t move the item. Leave the item stationary and use a pointer and keep the pointer on the item while describing it". Thank u for your efforts.

    *Finally*... the real deal; after 5 or 6 half-videos, (also from pros!)you manage to explain everything here; i have an old,but almost unused,like new,Sears saw, which seems to be the same thing; all the gas lines were so brittle ,they broke into 10 or 20 bits;
    Again,GREAT videoideas,friend,if you run for President,you got my vote lol

    Thank you for the informative video. When stating part numbers talk slowly and clearly. Also when showinglocations or connections don’t move the item. Leave the item stationary and use a pointer and keep the pointer on the item while describing it. Again thank you.

    Hey buddy, just a shout out to say thanks. I just fixed up my Poulan that hasn't run for 3 years. Bulb had turned to brittle. Fuel lines too. Looked like macaroni in the gas tank. Anyhow, got a kit on Amazon for the lines and bulb and with your tutorial was able to knock out the redo in an hour. Trimming hose and using fishing line to feed. Started right up when put back together and .. well.... ( raises beer to screen ).... thanks.

    Thanks for the tip on the intake manifold... spent a few hours saying many bad things because I couldn't get to the return hole. Still a bit of pain without it. I was honestly about to the point of tossing the saw a getting a new one. Many thanks though. This helped a lot.

    Amazon has 12" hemostat pliers- straight and 45° to replace fuel lines and filters. Cut lines at a slant to ease installation. Auto wire-cutters make good hose cutters. Measure the I.D and O.D of the fittings on the carb. to determine hose size. Get a tape measure that measures 1/16 and 32nd. To test the primer, put the hose in water and pump. If water shoots out, it's good! To remove the flywheel, remove the starter cover and the bar and chain Tap the crank with a hammer on the bar end and watch the flywheel pop off. Get a clutch tool and a piston stop tool. Replace the oil pump often. The gear is plastic! Get the spline mixture tool. Set the lo mixture for highest RPM'S at idle and the hi RPM'S at full throttle. Set the idle just until the chain stops. Check for the duck-bill valve.

    Awesome Video!
    I'll subscribe. I bought a Poulan 14" chainsaw week ago man said it ran but, been stored for several years.. fuel filter is off the line. So may have to replace those lines my self. Easy fix thank you for the video.

    To fit the lines through the tight holes, I find it easier to slit the line lengthwise for an inch or so, then feed that slit end into the hole and pull it through. Thanks for the video...I had the same problem Jason had (below). The lines were routed wrong by the previous "repairman", and I needed to see how they should be. Thanks!

    Excellent video. For the guys that are going to do this on a regular basis,pull the fuel line through and make your cut for the filter and keep the piece that you cut on an angle. If you get fuel lines in 4ft lengths it saves you enough line to do 2-3 more machines. Trimmers,saws,blowers etc all work the same way. High dollar machines like stihl echo etc have their own fuel lines. Not like the tygon. Excellent job buddy. I subbed. Zombie Dave.

    Thanks, Jeff,
    This is the best fuel line tutorial I've found. I had ordered primer bulbs and fuel line for a Wild Thing I inherited, but I didn't get the smaller line and every piece of line crumbled to pieces inside and outside the tank when I tried to install the primer bulb. I'll have to wait for a kit to arrive now, but your video makes the steps very easy to follow. Several folks say to not use the clear fuel line but only the yellow and the kit I ordered shows the smaller line as clear like the line you used. Any worries about clear line?

      Phil Warner Clear line is good. I use it! Replace it often if hard.

    Thanks for the video .. it helped me figure out the routing of the fuel lines . the previous owner had them routed wrong and it would not run .

    • @martystevens3969
      @martystevens3969 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Gabbert The line from the filter is small. It goes to the fitting on the right. The line from the top of the tank goes to the primer bottom. The inlet line on the primer bulb goes to the carb. inlet on the left.

    Great videos on how to keep these Poland operational. Engineers at husqvarna should be ashamed of themselves. Very bad engineering design to make items that will wear out be so difficult to maintain and replace. Good job!

    never could figure out what you did with that little connector piece that was in the tank? did you just not put it back in? The reason these lines get brittle is Ethanol in the gas, use 100 % gas or buy the additive. thanks

    Quick tip: toss the Poulan unless you only plan on using it a couple times. They are a pain. Bad designs, cheap components. Although I still have one. It has to be fiddled with and adjusted all the time to use it. 😁

    I replaced my old brittle fuel lines but my bulb was also cracked. I never use the bulb so I by-passed it. My return line is now from the carb to the tank. The saw runs fine except each time I refill the tank, it floods? I then have to clean/dry the plug, then it starts, runs good till I refuel, then it flood again? Do I have to have the primer bulb in the line to stop this?
    Thanks

    Mowers4u I have a few questions that I would like some info on as I have been known to tinker on various small engines over the years . One.....why dose my poulan experience chain casting issues when it was bought new and only ran for a total of 30 min tops? Two …...why dose the tank fuel cap become tight and become difficult to take off ? I have only used true fuel in my poulan from new {purchased} January 16 /2020 . Three …...why dose my poulan fail at idle and hesitate to open up bogging down then suddenly stopping . Four …...why when I allowed a dealer to remove my cover to inspect my air filter and spark plug dose a 30 min ran chainsaw contain so much pine saw dust accumulated on the air cleaner. Five …..I have noticed that my new saw when shut off is extremely hard to restart requiring several attempts before starting up …...Then upon starting up black plumes of smoke with a sloppy oil cover the plastic under the muffler is this indicative of Poulan . I know flooding can happen if continued pulling on the starter happens but this happens when my chainsaw is taken from a brief resting period of 5 mins before restarting . Six …….My chain seems to lack the proper amount of oil when being used ….. Seven …..Why dosent my dealer wont to help me after the sale when approached with these issues ? I have been to three local dealers all from witch take one look at this saw being a poulan and frown then tell me that they sale but don't work on Poulans .This concerns me as the saw is new and I don't wont to ruin my bar and chain . Would theses issues not be under warranty as I haven't turned even a single screw on the saw and only ran the fuel mix required by the dealer .Please any help would be appreciated .

    Super tutorial.
    On these chainsaw, why do we have such a small hole in the fuel tank for the feeding line?
    Is it to avoid leakages or does it make some sort of fuel restriction for carb pump?

    • @doglegjake6788
      @doglegjake6788 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      its to restrict the fuel to make it run leaner for the EPA , i always drill the hole bigger to the same size as the return line , it will give the engine the fuel it needs , hope it helps

    Hi, I got a question. I'm helping my brother with his poulan 46cc chainsaw. We replaced one of the fuel lines. Once we got into the cab part of the chainsaw, and removed all we had to remove to get to the line, he notice that there was this lil black rubber looking black top hat that was in the bottom of the cabinet. My question is, where does that goes?? I google it and the picture shows that it's goes on the oil pump. Can you help me.

    • @martystevens3969
      @martystevens3969 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      midnightpassion43 It may be like a wire grommet o-ring thing that fits on the tank for the line to go thru. It seals the hole.

    Can you use one size hose and enlarge the opening?

    • @mowers4uinc.678
      @mowers4uinc.678  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jim Gretsinger if you must, but things are designed a certain way for a reason. the hose needs to fit tight so you aren't leaking fuel, especially when you tip the saw.

    • @martystevens3969
      @martystevens3969 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mowers4u Inc. If you enlarge the hole, use bigger hose. It has to be a press-fit! It might not fit the carb. fitting.

    Good video but one you needed to move your camera so your hands and arm are not blocking what you are doing, and in my opinion who cares if the video is a little longer, don't be in such a hurry just take your time so a person that is inexperienced can see exactly what you are doing.
