Continental service, especially First Class Transcontinental is superb!! Their tradition and their legendary high end ammenities are very obvious. Continental puts the elements together. From their lounges to the classy inflight services everything is well planned and certainly well done. AAAA+
@christopherjoshuarn I do not know specifically, but I suspect not. At UA, domestic business/first does not get you into the lounge. Only international business will get you into the lounge. So, I think if you travel domestically, you will not get into the lounge.
@TonyMcGriffles Nice to hear the food was good. I flew SFO-MIA for business. No direct flights on *A, so I took CO. The two hubs worked out the best timing wise.
@TonyMcGriffles I know that CO has new 757 configuration has lie-flats, but don't the old 757's have this configuration for international travel? I hope the merger takes the best of both worlds and enhances them.
Have the U.S. airlines improved their service, or is it still cattle style? I'm in Japan and usually fly the Asian airlines instead of the U.S. The only airline I've seen improvement on is Delta. I flew them between Hawaii and L.A. I flew with my wife and kids and they let us board before the first class passengers. The whole crew was great. They were very helpful with our stroller. Ditto for Alaska Airlines from L.A. to Seattle.
The "K" is the international ICAO prefix for the airports in the US. It is not shown in front of the 3 letter airport code because it is not important for the passenger to know. It is mainly used for uploading flight plans into the FMS (Flight Management System). For example, if you are flying from JFK to London Heathrow, you would be flying KJFK-EGLL.
I miss good 'ol CO. I used to live about a mile away from IAH's northern most runway (8L) so I would spend all day of everyday of the first 7 years of my life watching CO planes fly over. So they've always been in fond memories of my younger years. I am happy that UA is shaping up though. First few years were... rocky to say the least. Now they've turned around and are starting to be competitive. Would've liked it if they had just partnered though. Not a merge, just a close partnership between both companies. But times change and airlines must adjust. I guess that meant all of the bigger airlines taking over the smaller ones. Here's hoping the globe stays for many years to come!
It's a nice ride. They should try to use those 757's on their "signature" routes like EWR to SFO or EWR to LAX. Similar to the UA P.S. flights and the AA New york long-haul transcons.
This Is My Favorite Video Out Of All Of Your Uploads... I Got To See My Home On TH-cam, I Love IAH And Continental, Even Though They're Kinda Already Merged With UA, Nice Vid, Keep Em Comin Btw, Continental Now Has Direct TV(Live TV(I Call It Direct)) On All Of Their Narrow Bodies Except 37-500's, They're Great To Have On Long Domestic Flights
I've flown Asiana and ANA business class using air miles. They were both great! I flew Asiana from KIX to ICN was great, but it was a short hop (1 hour flight). It took me much longer to get to the airport than the flight itself. The Asiana lounge at Incheon was excellent, with great food and fully stocked liquor bar. ANA was the same, going from KIX to Beijing. The same was said for the lounge in Beijing as with Asiana. The lounge was the same in Osaka, same code share. Highly reccommend both!
@jenflights Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. I do think their food is fantastic, certainly better than United's. I do like their lounges with the white leather chairs also. Very nice!
Have you ever been to San Diego? If so, have you experienced the airport takeoff or landing there, it's crazy fast, also they brake heavily on landing.
ICAO is the International Civil Aviation Organization. One of the many things they do is give airports codes. I am not well informed on the ICAO, so I cannot give much information on them. As for why K is the prefix for continental US airports(P is for Alaska and Hawaii) and why E is the prefix for UK and Dutch airports, I have no clue. I do know that there is a different prefix for every region to make identifying airports easier.
@XxMetalGorxX Thank you for the nice comment. Unfortunately, I don't know how to put music into these videos. Also, aren't there copyright laws that we cannot copy music and put them into our own videos? Thus, I am neither sure of how to do it nor how to make it copyright-approved.
@sfflyer123 Oh didnt notice that, Sorry! Hey, have you tried Airtran's Business class. Ive been in it once its not bad(they don't give out meals but they give out free drinks and snacks!)
@sfflyer123 I myself am a Continental flyer and my experiances with them are great. So far I've only flown United twice and 1 out of those two trips were pleasant on UA. UA offers great seat products but customer satisfaction was not very good. I think and hope that will improve for the new United =D
@Ichliebegermany Thank you for your kind words. Fortunately, for me, these flights are free. I can't afford to pay for them. My company flies me in business class, and if I go myself, I use my miles to upgrade to business class! Thanks for the comment!
@XxMetalGorxX Yes, I use Windows moviemaker. It's very nice. I do not know how to put music on it. I first have to get the song from somewhere, and I not sure about the copyright issues.
Great videos. I know this is pre-merger. Starting this month though, expect to be on a few more legacy COA flights out of the legacy UA hubs as they are starting to distribute the fleet all over the new route structure. This merger is hard on me since I am a legacy COA employee, but in the end I hope it works out for both airlines involved!
Guess what, they do! Just not so often, but i know what you mean, especially since Continental has 41 757-200's in their fleet! I just wish Continental would have a premium economy cabin like UA (even though it's really not premium compared to most carriers that have it)
OMG I've gained 10 pounds looking at this one. It would have been 15, thanks for skipping the cheese cake. :) What kind of soup did you have? The one looked like Broccholi and Chese, and the other like a Tomato Bisque? (Did my eye for cuisine decive me? )
Soon im going to fort lauerdale on southwest. i could do a trip report like you, sfflyer. Also going to aruba on usairways. ill do a report on that too.
@KCBOYZ1307 Yes, hopefully with the merger, it will be the best of both worlds: United economy plus with CO direct TV! Now, that would be traveling in style!
Great video dude! Might i suggest that you should put some background music in the video, or split it into some scenes of the video, keep up the good work! :D
If you ever head to miami again, you might want to to take American Airlines, it operates a hub there, and because of that, there will likely be several flights from SFO to MIA
@sfflyer123 I Know I Wish It Was, I Know It's Free On 777's, And I Think It Is On Continental's 67's, I'm Going To HNL From IAH This Summer, It's Scheduled To Be A 767-400ER, But I'm Not Sure It'll Stay That Way Because Of The Merger
I really enjoyed your video, I can easily say it's one of the more elegant, well thought out in-service video's on you-tube !!...Thanks !!
Wow, that sounds like some amazing trips. I am envious!
Continental service, especially First Class Transcontinental is superb!! Their tradition and their legendary high end ammenities are very obvious. Continental puts the elements together. From their lounges to the classy inflight services everything is well planned and certainly well done. AAAA+
Thanks. Good info. Now the next question is what is ICAO and why is it K in North America and E in UK?
@christopherjoshuarn I do not know specifically, but I suspect not. At UA, domestic business/first does not get you into the lounge. Only international business will get you into the lounge. So, I think if you travel domestically, you will not get into the lounge.
The one with the hamburger was cream of mushroom soup. The one with the shrimp & asparagus was a tortilla soup. Both excellent!
@TonyMcGriffles Nice to hear the food was good. I flew SFO-MIA for business. No direct flights on *A, so I took CO. The two hubs worked out the best timing wise.
Interesting. I always thought it was IAH, but I guess the "K" makes it more official?
Yes, I think if they had a "premium service" type product, many people would think about flying CO transcon, not just one pass members.
@TonyMcGriffles I know that CO has new 757 configuration has lie-flats, but don't the old 757's have this configuration for international travel? I hope the merger takes the best of both worlds and enhances them.

Great Review!!!Very Helpful..Keep on posting them

@odugraddude Thank you very much. That is very nice of you to say. I am glad that you enjoyed it!
I would like to see it. pleaset let me know when you publish it.
@juanesathieu the hope is that CO should raise UA's food quality. Hopefully, the combined airline will have the best of both worlds!
Thanks for the comment. Hope to ride up front on Delta one day.
Great! You won't regret it. It was very nice.
@TonyMcGriffles I have not tried the muffins, though it sounds like something that would be good. I agree, those cheeseburgers are surprisingly good!
was that a 757-300 im flying from ewr-las on a 753 great vid
@packs5100 I think overall, it will be better, but we'll have to see. I think it will be more options, but it will be more expensive.
@1airplane123 Yes, Continental will be gone, and it will all be United! What wil you fly?
This Is My Favorite Video Out Of All Of Your Uploads... I Got To See My Home On TH-cam, I Love IAH And Continental, Even Though They're Kinda Already Merged With UA, Nice Vid, Keep Em Comin

Great video, always nice to look back and remember those days. CO was a great airline, then United got their grubby hands all over it!!
Thank you for your comment! Yes, lucky and unlucky. Unlucky in that I am away from my family, but lucky that the trips are short.
@UclaColumbia It will be interesting to see what happens. My hope is that the best of both worlds will emerge.

Thanks for this. UA 1K in NJ ... have not done CO yet ... won't hesitate now ...
@jenflights Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. I do think their food is fantastic, certainly better than United's. I do like their lounges with the white leather chairs also. Very nice!
@britoin Yeah, it's pretty funny now, isn't it? They are now one and the same airline! I hope they just absorb the best of both airlines.
@imafisher67 Thank you! I don't pay for first class. My company flies me business class, or if I fly for personal travel, I use miles.
@HollisterSupporter Good to know about the Dunkin donuts! Thanks for the tip.
Thank you, but I cannot afford these airfares! I only fly this way when other people pay (work-related) or when I upgrade!
@jonathan97s Yes, you're very observant. A couple asked me to switch seats so I obliged so that they could sit together. Good pickup!
Yes, Continental provides food in economy! I don't think it's the same meal, but they definitely give you food!
@MrDarkslasher12 Yes, they are a nice treat. CO really has good food, I must say.
The 757 is a europe international/long haul domestic (EWR-LAX/SFO).
Have you ever been to San Diego? If so, have you experienced the airport takeoff or landing there, it's crazy fast, also they brake heavily on landing.

great vid did u fly sgo to iah and then i heard u flew back to iah on the same day
@TonyMcGriffles Yes, those burgers are soo good!
Yes, i go all the time for consulting. I agree about the landing
Thanks. I have taken AA to Miami. Not bad.
@CO738ify even in first class? thanks for your nice words!
@jonathan97s Thank you. Yes, I changed planes, so they were different seats. Thanks for the comment.
@sfflyer123 I myself am a Continental flyer and my experiances with them are great. So far I've only flown United twice and 1 out of those two trips were pleasant on UA. UA offers great seat products but customer satisfaction was not very good. I think and hope that will improve for the new United =D
@KCBOYZ1307 Thank you for the nice comment! Direct TV is great. It makes the flight go so much more quickly. Too bad it's not free!
@Deltaguy729 I have not flown CO business class internationally yet, so I don't know. So far, UA is great.
@Ichliebegermany Thank you for your kind words. Fortunately, for me, these flights are free. I can't afford to pay for them. My company flies me in business class, and if I go myself, I use my miles to upgrade to business class! Thanks for the comment!
nice 1 ..but have a question, what is drink chit???
Thank you!
@freewaffles666 No worries. It's all good. Thank you for watching!
I have never tried AirTran. They don't really fly out here much. Thanks for the comment!
@packs5100 Yes, hopefully with Smisek running the show, customer satisfaction will go up.
@determined3 Did them in two separate days. The first leg was SFO-MIA. Spent a few days in Miami. The return was MIA-SFO. Thanks for the comment!
is the president's club complimentary for business-first passengers?
@XxMetalGorxX Yes, I use Windows moviemaker. It's very nice. I do not know how to put music on it. I first have to get the song from somewhere, and I not sure about the copyright issues.
wow. ur lucky to fly thaat much. how much did it cost u???
Thanks for your comment!
@tbarnes131 Thank you for the compliment! Yes, I fly for business. A lot. I wish I were retired, but I've got a few decades to go before that!!
Thanks for the comment!
Lounge is always good. The only problem is that you have to be well paid to keep the membership!
@MrAVFC2011 You are much too kind! Thanks!
Please look at the date of the video.
Yes, the old CO planes do.
Great videos. I know this is pre-merger. This merger is hard on me since I am a legacy COA employee, but in the end I hope it works out for both airlines involved!
Great Video!
Geez.... That really depressed me... Those were the good ole days when Gordon ran things.... The Pre-Smisek era "Dark Days"
@andrewlong111 Thanks for the comment. Hope you get to try it sometime.
Guess what, they do! Just not so often, but i know what you mean, especially since Continental has 41 757-200's in their fleet! I just wish Continental would have a premium economy cabin like UA (even though it's really not premium compared to most carriers that have it)
Yes, please see my youtube homepage to see why I fly so much! THanks.
where did you go for your two trips?
@chuyjpg I bet they didn't want to risk them being soggy!
OMG I've gained 10 pounds looking at this one. It would have been 15, thanks for skipping the cheese cake. :) What kind of soup did you have? The one looked like Broccholi and Chese, and the other like a Tomato Bisque? (Did my eye for cuisine decive me? )
great video
why you didn't try AA or Virgin america, so you don't have to stop at Houston?
so true!
I'm curious about something, 123. Since you travel extensively on specific airlines, do you ever "hear" from them? Just wondering....
Soon im going to fort lauerdale on southwest. i could do a trip report like you, sfflyer. Also going to aruba on usairways. ill do a report on that too.
Thanks.
Continental FC is pretty good! I'm pretty loyal to Delta, so I miss CO being part of SkyTeam. Cool video!

@TonyMcGriffles Good to know. Thanks!
I did fly UA RDU-IAH-SAN however. It was a lovely trip.
No, this is serious. remember, it's a domestic flight, not an international one.
I don't know. It was free for me since the company paid!
Nice!
Yes, last year I flew 130,000 miles.
@Midnightryder7 Thanks. You are too kind.
Looking pretty cool..
I flew First class on a Continental 757-200 last summer and yep, it is international configured!
@marXTheSpotFilms Thank you!
