Javian, you are right.....it was 35 years ago I flew the 727, arguably one of the best airplanes to fly, and those days ARE truly nostalgic

These were some good days in aviation it seems...so nostalgia, and I wasn't even alive when this happened

Listening to the audio on this video reminds me why I now suffer from tinnitus in my right ear. The 727 was a pilot's airplane but a noisy old bird!!!

Finally, real pilots! Thank you for allowing me to relive of the days of glory!

I use to nonrev iah-mco all the time to visit my folks. Always on a Continental 727! This was during the dark times in the airline industry. Continental gate agents were fantastic in always getting me on. And they were making less than half of what they once made! Thanks to Frank Lorenzo.

Indeed. I hired out with CO at LAX in 1988. Lorenzo sure made a mess of the airline. During it all, I think we all did the very best we could given the situation. I left CO in 94 right before Bethune took over. I should have stayed. But other carriers were calling.

WOW! Love this! I flew as a DPS starting 1972 and was an IFS to 1976. My first trip as a DPS was the 302/430 pattern.

well, this is the best video of what I used to do yet. I loved flying the three holer, when I watched this seeing the windshield wiper brought the flood of memories too. Sounds silly but it was part of my view. An absolutely wonderful airplane to stick and rudder, she was intolerant of pilots that got lazy close to the ground on landing and showed it with a big bang...there !! next time pay attention !! And I was flying them in 1989 !!! thanks !

I had many takeoffs and landings on the 727-200 sitting in the jumpiest behind the Captain when I was a DPS for Continental.

Back when you had to fly sideways before getting F/O position.
Three holer was a great airplane.

Many people don't know this but the 727 was a lot faster than the jets they have today except for the Concord when it was when it was an operation they were very fast aircraft. And very very loud and smoky which was a good thing.

I miss the old profession. The pilots were the best back in the day.

The good old days of flying. No IPads or fly by wire. Full meals were served even in short flights. Just old school papers and hand flying. He had a right crosswind, you can tell by the yoke and cockpit view of the runway. I also like how the captain applies the speed braked manually upon touchdown versus the auto spoilers airplanes have now.

iPads are a good thing. Aside from that everything else i agree with.

I’m surprised how loud it is in the cockpit. I thought having tail mounted engines would’ve made for a quieter ride for the pilots.

    • @joejordan1259

They were very very loud which is a great thing and smokey also which is even better we live close to an airport and when they boost the fly over the windows would rattle the foundation with rattle and you could smell jet fuel out in the air those were great times and by the way and that era of people love noise and they enjoyed it and then encouraged it unlike today where people have become so sensitive what's wrong with jets flying over your house at full throttle at low altitude the answer is absolutely nothing.

Was the 727 200 better to land than the 727 100 series

Anyone know the airport they departed from? There was a Korean Air 747, UAX EMB-110. A few Delta L1011s.
