Hi Rym, thanks for posting these great presentations. I'm watching a whole bunch of them to help with conceptualization, mechanics, and things to not do. Vetting my "unique game idea" against the games you discuss and so far so good.
I like to give my Dixit clues by song. The people who know it will sing along, and it's also usually abstract enough that people toss in some really good cards and also not everyone gets my card. I also turned Dixit into a game of Charades one time by acting out the clue.
This is really nit-picky but I just can't, sorry.... In Treasure Island you are not searching for Long John, he is in prison for the first X turns. You are searching for his treasure. Each turn he is interrogated and he has to give a clue as to the location of the treasure. Sometimes that clue is a lie. After turn X he escapes and if he manages to reach his treasure before anyone else, he wins.
Sheriff of Nottingham has the core of a solid repeat gambling game, but it's a stupid round-limited game. It's rare to find a game in which an early lead can be milked to the end so hard with conservative play.
