I have an inquiry. My vet believes my german shepherd puppy has patellar luxations in both hind legs and strongly suspects hip dysplasia in the left hip. She is too young for x-rays and will be 4 months next week. My question is: do you have any recommendations for physical therapy exercises my puppy should be doing to help strengthen her legs and help her luxations? I know there isn't much i can do at this stage for her hip (at least until we get imaging), but her vet left for a month long vacation and i feel helpless watching her clumsily bumble around, potentially worsening her condition. I cannot find any hydrotherapy for dogs in my area.
Hi, that's a tricky situation you have found yourself in with your young German Shepherd. It's hard to advise on specific exercises without seeing your doggo as not all exercises are appropriate for the same condition. My advice would be to try and find a vet physio who would be happy to do a zoom consult for you to see exactly what she needs.
