Wonder why the vette driver is going so easy in the corners he has a better weight distribution than the porsche I feel like he could have carried a little more speed in but I wasn't there so.
Eh not really the Porsche could have been more defensive and has better cornering ability than the Vette. The only thing that killed the Porsche was the Vettes huge low end torque out of a corner.
It was a really shitty move taking a very slow/plodding/unconventional out of the race line line to slow the Vette up at the 14:00 mark. I know if I was an official THAT WOULD GET YOU THROWN off the track for me...
None of these guys are going hard. Go watch some of the stuff from the Goodwood festival. Those guys really go after one another. So many of the cars here in this race are out there for shits and giggles.
Apples and oranges. Goodwood (Revival and FoS) drivers are hired legends ("has beens" perhaps) that are simply the best of the best. Of course they can drive the wheels off of whatever they're driving and make the impossible look easy.
I swear that most of these guys don't know how to drive a road course. They're entering the corners with too high a gear and end up dicking with the throttle all through the corner. Enter in a lower gear with higher RPM that's more into the power band and power on through the corner. This is not a endurance race where fuel is an issue. It's really frustrating to listen to this on, off, on, off throttle. All the throttle play does is upset the suspension and balance of the car.
This is not racing. This looks more like spectator racing. This "race" is only about bragging rights between owners of these classic sports cars from 40 years ago. Go watch some on the annual races from the Goodwood Festival. Those guys go after it. I've seen some of these guys wreck some pretty expensive collectable race cars. Saw a Ferrari GTO get torn up among others. The Goodwood Festival track is where Bruce McLaren died testing a new car. It used to be a regular on the sport car circuit many years back. The track was resurrected and now they have this annual racing event that features many of the most popular and successful drivers of the past.
You should actually go to Mid-Ohio, VIR, Road Atlanta, or Watkins Glen and see a vintage race. I was at this race and these guys were hanging it all out lap after lap.
Pleasantly surprised with the acceleration of the winning Corvette down the back stretch. Thanks for the great video, great race.
C3 Vettes look so cool when modified for racing.
It sure is!!
The Vett is not running a big block ( it's running a 355 small block ) and it still sounds like a bomb.....amazing sound !
great go-pro camera action. interesting mix of TransAm sedan, sports car, and nascar all together. but WTH, its fun and awesome to see
Makes my heart swell with pride when a C3 wins, it's their natural right.
Great race! Excellent video!
What is the Year and the size motor of the Porsche 911?
Now that’s racing!!
GREAT racing!
that sting ray tho
that poor little 911 displacement hehe......just beautiful to see these classics, thanks that was great
I mean it wasn't exactly in the same class as the vette it was going against it was in the same class as the viper and Panoz GTs
That Porsche is less on power to the vette and still in the same league...very good!!
almost 1000 lbs difference
It was also twice the price and way slower in straight line acceleration
😆

@@8.2deck no it doesn't, both of those are factually incorrect the Porsche has independent rear suspension and a rear biased weight distribution
@@8.2deck Oh well the vette also has independent suspension
The 911 is catching the vette in the corners, you can’t out brake 911
600 lbs weight difference helps
That also depends on the driver? I drive my Vette deep into corners and barely touch the brakes. 🏁🏆
Now that was a race . make the vette lighter, no competition
wow ! still can see the v-8s vintage on track better than collector car auction . Thanks .
It took the corvette with twice the engine size to catch a little Porsche 911. It's the only way it could win.

Merica!!!!!!
Nice corvette c3 win
chevrolet victory yeah! hell of a fight, great

Granddads driving?

so true, this can`t even be counted as racing
