Have to say I had guessed before I watched you were going to have a lean time. The fish in this river have been decimated since the 80's . thanks to trawlers raking the seabed. Most of the popular fishing spots have now been closed to fishermen such as Gourock Pier and McInroys point thanks to the Ferry companies (B'Stards).

we had mackerel, mussel, lugworm, squid, sandeel, as well as artifical ragworm. tried combinations of all of them without any joy

Same old story in Greenock, Starfish and Crabs. The only thing that place is good for is Mackarel in the summer.
