    Many of these aren’t mispronunciations. If you look at any Oxford English Dictionary (or perhaps more conveniently its app) then you’ll see that many vowels in the middle of words aren’t meant to be pronounced anyway, even in the RP (the ‘proper’ English) accent. For instance, the word every, is said to be pronounced ˈɛvri - so a short e sound at the start, and short i sound at the end, and no sound between the v and r consonants, which is exactly how Australians pronounce it; as we should!

    Hello! At 3:12 minutes, you said "It's comfy AS". I've heard a lot of Aussie say 'As' like that. I don't really get it. Can you explain it to me, please?

    How about "territory" ... would Aussies pronounce it "terra-tree" (or 'terror tree'?)

    • @jslasher1

      I'll go with "terrah-tree". But, then, I am a migrant.

    Hi Pete, is the word “question” one of them? Do you skip the S and T to have sth like “kwe-shen” or do you fully pronounce it like “kwes-tshen”
    Another one, I heard you say for the word “list” “lis”, did I hear correctly?

    • @cronos6TEMPLE
      @cronos6TEMPLE 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aussie English it does cheers, it’s just too many consonant sound without any vowel (STSHN) if you consider the schwa as very weak.

    • @cronos6TEMPLE
      @cronos6TEMPLE 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So sorry to insist Pete, I'm passionate :) in this video, you definitely skip the S and T (of tch) and say kweʃən, am I right? : th-cam.com/video/wngCeNYQQyY/w-d-xo.html&t=10m56s

    Most of them aren't really "mispronouncations" though, are they....

  • @gugaemc
    @gugaemc 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    But those aren't exclusive to aussie English. I expected something that would differenciate the aussie accent from the others. ;)

  • @gerry3670

    Goo'ronya mate..!! you understand the pain with English is the pronunciation. Must be the reverse when you guys learn some other language. Good the Aussies are laid back and can hang-on until they finally understand...patience
