Aveva una voce fenomenale ma di certo le agilitá, gli acuti e soprattutto i trilli non erano il suo forte. Era un soprano drammatico non una coloratura drammatica.

@@vocalisse you’d think she knew her voice better than anyone else and me for sure but a soprano lirico sings Liu and Mimi not Turandot and Gioconda. It’s not just the size, volume or color it’s also and mostly about tessitura and she definitely was more comfortable in the low and middle rather than high register. I’d like to see a lirico who would survive so many Turandot
@@gianerajohn436 When you hear Dimitrova at her beginning she's a lyrical; after her voice became more powerful, and sounded like a true drammatico; but her natural voice is a lyrical one
This doesn't sound like a lyric soprano. Compare her rendition with Caballe or Ricciarelli. Even young Dimitrova sounds more like a big spinto, no less.

This was so much better than I expected. For a soprano with one of the biggest voices of the late 20th century, she could move the voice around with unexpected ease. This role, however, was written specifically for Jenny Lind, and Verdi tried to showcase Lind's trills, for which she was renowned. Trills, unfortunately, were not part of Dimitrova's technical arsenal. She was an astonishingly exquisite soprano! Her voice had tremendous capabilities!
