Who here has fond memories of the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime from 2003? I may like Brotherhood more but the first anime is still has really great moments and does some things better.
I think more and more folk especially in the last few years have started seeing it this way! For a while after brotherhood folk just discounted the original but I think most people have an appreciation for both now which is awesome. 03 hits my emotions harder if I'm totally honest, and I just love the colour scheme and lighting more which just separate the visual vibe of the show.
In my opinion the 2003 version is better than brotherhood
The way I see it, the original did the first half of the story better, whereas Brotherhood handled the second half better.
@@dzetaredfang7352 thats a fact, i think that thedevelopment of the characters is more detailed in the 2003 version. My impression was that fmab scalated so fast, but the end is better.
My opinion is that I like brotherhood because it has a better end to the story and has more background

I've always preferred FMA Brotherhood but the OG FMA songs are still badass af
as someone who is a massive fan of FMA as a whole, both the 2003 & brotherhood, someone who loves all the music, and everything, this cover of the best opening of the 2003 is absolutely amazing, its probably 1 of the best covers of this song & you did wonderfully at capturing the energy and also melancholy sense of hope of the song.

Look up Rewrite by Darling Thieves. In my opinion they did a better translation of the song and it flows together better

That chorus gets me everytime, especially with how clear and intense your voice is. Seriously love this!! It perfectly goes along with the original.
The translation for this song I think does a great balance of intent and fitting what is actually sung in the original. Great job, out of all the FMA openings and endings this competes for first place frequently.

Brotherhood seemed way too fast, but I like the ending better, at least.
I liked how open the original was. Kept you guessing on if how or when they'll get their true lives back. So many good theory came out of it.

Fantastic work trying to keep the translation faithful and also different enough. Kinda makes a few lines a touch akward, but fantastic overall 8+ outta 10 from me! Bravo

I never expected anyone to still remember the original fma everyone mainly concerns themselves with fmab because fma had a dark ending but hello not every anime has a happy ending and I loved fma for accepting that I love nate too for his amazing covers
Fma didnt even have a dark ending, it's bittersweet and it seems that people just cant appreciate that anymore these days :/ BH's ending is way too saccharine for me, it feels fake imo
It wasn't a matter of the ending being sadder and the other happier, is matter of Quality, FMA 2003, had many issues in it's writing in his last episodes, once that last story arc is set in motion.
@@Mike-xh2vm Basically this. i hated the entire last arc of 2003 myself. while things in BH were changed for various reasons or others thats what tends to happen when you need to animate. you want it to be more engaging for people who didn't read the base material. not everyone had or could read the manga and its important you don't have people wondering the tone something is supposed to have.
Sure 2003 went really far off the rails but it also went off the rails in directions that made ZERO sense to make to me. good thing is that BH is debatable how happy it is to me.
@@NexiSanada strangely enough, FMA 2003 start way better than FMA: BH , FMA: BH first episodes were really lackluster, they really were in a rush to animate the new stuff isn't?
@@Mike-xh2vm it does not help that it had been a while and they wanted to bring people back. at the point brotherhood attempts to start at they had to basically rework things that got put out of order from 2003's deviation.
thats the curse of trying to restart something and take it the way it was intended to go, you make a few hiccups in terms of outright pacing. I imagine they wanted to just get the first few episodes out to straighten things out and did not particularly try to make it engaging enough.
Years later and continue to still listen to Rewrite covers. Especially this one. Really caught myself in my own mistakes having to chose between freedom and having dignity (the latter is what need to chose to have a fulfilling life with my family and fix all the broken, toxic traits that hurt myself and those around me. "Erase, Rewrite, Erase" no truer words have been spoken. Your life is a book in constant state of erasing, rewriting, and redefining yourself as a person. Really did lose sense of what time is giving me too (my life and endless opportunities to change and not taking them.)

I'm now 16 y.o. but man, I really understand every 2000's anime. The only thing that's being sad for me - is that I can't understand how is it - to watch every episode of 2000's anime once a week. Like, while being a little kid, I had a DVD discs with 16 episodes of Naruto, but nothing else, and all I had to do - rewatching this 16 episodes time by time, until my dad wasn't allowed me to watch all the rest episodes using our square screen computer. But even with it, I finished watching Naruto right when there's last episodes is being ongoing.
But if we talk about other sides of 2000's anime, then I think I could say that I'm understanding 100% of this.
You can ask why I didn't watch anime on TV, so I would answer:
I couldn't. I don't remember at least 1 channel or 1 moment, when there's anime on my TV. Maybe it's because of the country when I'm living, or maybe because I just doesn't had the right channels when I can watch anime, but fact is still a fact: I couldn't.
