My dad and sister were evacuated to live in the castle after their brother died in the bombing of Newcastle in 1941

Hi from Canada! Beautiful video with great views! I was lucky enough to visit England, where I was born, in ‘88. I can’t even explain the way I felt standing by the castle walls by the cannons, facing the sea. It was powerful and breathtaking!

Thanks Jill, it is a lovely part of our country. But then Canada is magma too. Been lucky enough to visit but only the Eastern side. Montreal, Toronto etc. I don’t think most English folk appreciate just how much history we have in one small place. All the best Jill. X

Hi. Did you have to get permission granted? I'm seeing lots of sites claiming there is a Ban on Drones here. I have a trip booked in March up this way.

Dunno, not imposing on the castle site, it was early morning before it opened. Stayed away from the wildlife. Didn’t see any signs at the time and I walked the perimeter prior to shooting. Common sense really. Bother no one, they bother you not.
After this shoot I went back, paid entry and had a lovely day in there. However, whilst having a lovely pulled pork butty in the outside seating area, some twit, was flying his/her drone right above us. So I can understand why places are forced to put up signs. Some folk are just bell ends.
Have a great holiday up there. 👍🏻

@@sloth7319 Did you take off from that grassy flat bit at the bottom of the cliffs below the castle walls? You got some great footage there. I'm heading that way next weekend

@@torotaxi1 hello there. I started from the Dunes. Got most footage from there, then on that flat bit at the front. However- I got up super early to get it, as, I appreciate it’s their equivalent of the National trust type place. So I wanted to minimise any reason for Karen to pop up beside me. I did in fact see staff while I was there. I d almost finished and they were just starting. No problem. I was never too close etc. Respect works both ways.
Later that day I visited the castle with my family and saw that some tw@t was hovering their drone about 10 metres over the cafe area where we were eating. Now those types of daft folk, spoil it for the rest of us.
Enjoy your stay mate. Safe flying. Watch out for the wild life. It’s always worth enquiring with the staff if it’s season for the birds etc before flying.
