Nice footage, just been there myself this morning with my drone and came home to find it's apparently illegal to fly a drone there 🙄 can't decide whether to risk uploading it. I'm guessing you've had no issues and this is the first video that came up. Maybe the rules weren't in place when you recorded this?
@@5oups3yeVi3w From the area shown in the drone footage, it looks very much like a place where the Romans would have chosen for a seaside fortification. The Romans maintained a vigorous naval presence in the Channel, to secure trade and deal with piracy.
This is very very far away from the "saxon shore". In fact it is further North than Hadrian's wall. The area is also unsuitable for a harbour or port of any kind.

I was there in 2007 and was amazed at the sight of this magnificent castle. Drone footage adds a great deal of perspective. Great presentation !

From what I can see from the layout, I wouldn't be surprised if this was built upon an old Roman fort along the 'Saxon Shore"

@@davidmurray5399 Those forts tended to be square, it may have been a hillfort then reused by the romans though.
