thank you for bringing this to us ..... I went to the UofM after discharge from the Navy in 1974 .... Majored in the Fine arts.... walked this almost daily regardless of the waether .... again thanks, good memories...
Wonder if Al's is still around? Use to go there for breakfast! Great hash browns and sausage. It was after I graduated that I went back! I would go all out since being a college student; I could not afford to eat their much. But afterward; I could easily drop $20 for breakfast including tip back in the 1980s and that is like $80 now! LOL! I use to eat at the Steakhouse restaurant; with there $6 steaks and Texas garlic toast. Steak was the lowest quality meat ever! Ohhhhh! The coffee shop something like Royal Grind or like! People stay there like 5-6 hours studying and hanging out! People who work in Dinkytown were mostly hippie types; a throwback to the 1960s era.
It is! They are the still awesome. I went this spring and really enjoyed it. I believe prices are still fairly reasonable but not that cheap. An absolute gem
I turned the video quality up to 2160 P and the quality is superb! wish I could get a better shot of some of the cross streets. I am familiar with the downtown area but it's been a while! If I know the cross streets, I can look at on Google maps! Or even better description after title with some reference to area names/cross streets or where the video begins! Big big thumbs up! Is this by seven corners? Do you ever get northeast Minneapolis ?
Thanks for that! I went ahead and added street labels to the whole video. Hopefully that can help you stay oriented a little. This is a different part of the University of Minnesota than Seven Corners, that’s considered part of the West Bank area, this is east. This is closer to stadium village. I plan to record stadium village, the West Bank campus, Malcom yards, and the east bank all at some point. I did a bike ride on central in NE this summer but haven’t done a walking video yet. It’s on my list! Thanks again!
Yeah I want to. It’s hard because it’s indoors and a private space so I don’t want to upset anyone but I guess worst case scenario I just get kicked out. I’ll try in January sometime
You really believe things stay the same as time goes on ? Of course a lot of things have changed and developed over the years. The past is the past it already happened now it’s December 5th , 2024 tomorrow will be December 6 , 2024
This Sunday the Vikings play the Falcons at 12:00 pm and definitely we will beat them after that the Bears , Seahawks, and the Packers. The only team will be difficult will be the Lions and we will beat them by a touchdown. I already told my co workers at work this year superbowl will be The Vikings vs The Buffalo Bills at the superbowl ⏳
Wow! Dinky town... so many memories. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Thanks for watching!

Always love hearing your stories! Thanks again. Lots of new apartments that weren’t there in 1974
shoutout to Dinkytown! I never seen a walk-thru in this part of the cities
You know you can always move back to the city or closer to the city
Thanks! Yeah, I’ve been meaning to record this one since I first started 😅

YES !!!!! The MDonald's over the railroad tracks...... THAT is what I remember the most.....
You know you can always move back
@@cartier2312 No way .... too happy here in the Mid-Ohio Valley ...... but thanks for the offer.....
I am told no one remembers that place as it was referred to as “drunk Donald’s”
Excellent video, any chance on getting a walking tour of Midtown Global Market? You'd be the first to do so👀

That guy at 1:09 drops his coffee :(
Poor guy. I think he was a delivery driver. He went back in to get it replaced when I was standing on the corner.
It has changed a lot .... am I thinking the same Dinky Town by the University ?????

Yeah! Lots of a change but a few gems that have remained
I’m shocked there are so few windows on that apartment under construction on 14th st
Yeah, I’ll check on it in the spring and see how the finished project looks. Gotta be more than we are noticing
