Well, Jack Irons was their original drummer. Jack and Hillel were part of The Peppers and What Is This simultaneously. As both What Is This and The Peppers both were recording their debut albums at around the same time, Jack and Hillel were forced to make a choice: Stay in The Peppers or stay in What Is This. They felt that What Is This was the more serious band, with more potential, and that The Peppers were more of a joke, and wouldn't be around for long. (The irony!) Wow, they had the captain beef heart drummer originally. I did not know that.
(The irony!) They chose What Is This, and Anthony and Flea chose Cliff to replace Jack until he returned.
@@joeymorvant161 what’s funny is rhcp are still a joke band
@@manichispanic999 Come on.
Did this channel used to go under a different name or is it similar to that other channel that does the type of exploratory videos under a diff name?
They couldn't have gotten a better guitarist after the death of Slovak with Frusciante
Slovak was the reason Frusciante got turned onto RHCP, and how Frusciante got to be in the band after Slovak's death.
Whats the story behind the new disclaimer???????
Is that the same Alan Johannes who's in Them Crucked Vultures?
Or have I got my names mixed up?
It's the same guy. 😁
@@LovelyDisgracefromInnerspace Hey thanks !love his work with TCV and had no idea he'd been in the chillies
@@lastguy8613 He has a Facebook page where he posts a lot of his stuff - New and sometimes older. If you like his work and are on it, can definitely recommend checking it out.
@@lastguy8613 He wasn't. He was in What Is This, which Hillel and Jack were a part of for a while.

Addiction is a hell of a demon.
Wait…a rock musician had a drug addiction? Weird. They almost never die from drugs.
He should be thanked for setting Flea on the road to being a great bass player.
Why no mention of Space Grass????? That’s a great tune. Back home that got a lot radio play and sounds like nothing else they recorded.
Not that it invalidates your point, but you mention the more introspective lyrics on Mother's Milk, but then you show lyrics written by Stevie Wonder.
Stevie was inside anthony ? Gross
Knock Me Down is an example of the more introspective lyrics, as it was written about Slovak's death.
They was great in the kurt douglas movie tough guys from 1986 as the band that kurt and his young girlfriend go to the club to see play.
I love that friggin' movie. Such a classic.
Wasnt otherside written about slovak and his battle with the addiction? I love otherside its a tie between scar tissue as my favorite rhcp song
Can we get Episode on why Muzz Skillings left Living Color?
I've always wondered that.
What year did Will Ferrel join the band on drums?
I think every musician was in a band called Anthem at one time. Lol.
