    Just found your channel mate and enjoy the laid back look to the models and your thoughts on them. I’m a massive Kev Adams fan boy from his work at GW in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Wonderful character to those designs and thank for showcasing the Renegade range as I was not that familiar with them. I do know that the crossbow Orcs were very sought after when they were available. Keep up the Oldhammer content ❤

      Appreciate that. They scream out character don’t they. I’m only annoyed Kev is doing great stuff for Knightmare Miniatures in Spain and we have to stomach duties and handling charges etc. albeit as you’re in Japan that’s small beer for you. I’ve already been lectured by a lovely Aussie as a whinging Pom for complaining about ordering minis from abroad given most minis are in the U.K. already 🥹

    Thats a nice rabble of fiesty orcs you've got, that boss miniature looks ferocious, level 10 intimidation. I'd like more orcs too, I've a couple of 90s command and a handfull of random boys, enough for a small skirmish warband. Wish Knightmare had a shop over here, there are so many fantastic greenskins.

    • @stompie51
      @stompie51  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you can go nuts with shininess and collecting. You only need enough for a small skirmish really with these guys. Not sensible to collect for armies. Even for the various cool miniature agnostic sets like Dragon Rampant. Still need loads. I’m thinking 7TV Fantasy if anyone is interested. Or Mantic Vanguard and I know my next victim/person tk persuaded.

    I saw the Knightmare games orcs on kickstarter and grabbed their orc crossbowmen to use as Rugluds regiments of renown (since GW will never support DOW) and the minis are fantastic, the whole range is phenomenal! Tempted me to make a greenskin army (and this video didnt help that desire either lol) Hopefully you can find a game for these, Id love to see the army all done up.

    • @stompie51
      @stompie51  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Knightmare are soooo tempting. Not cheap though. How do you play DOW? Warhammer fifth edition? Issue isn’t finding a game. As you say it’s finding an opponent. Annoyingly the main person open to anything has moved away. Everyone else is AoS. But that’s encouraged me to make the most of the Ogor and Beastmen armies I have which are round based. I’m just not happy tue army books I’ve bought could be redundant within a year…

    • @DirgeDesigns
      @DirgeDesigns ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @stompie51 for a while it was the chronicles book (2002?) But my friend made a home brew DOW list for 8th. I'm basically collecting what I couldn't afford back in the day and may slot it into other game systems (OPR ect) or use them as counts as units in my other armies (using pikemen as Empire spearman ect)

    • @stompie51
      @stompie51  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DirgeDesignsI foolishly got rid of an entirely NIB DoW galloper gun and the Belladonna lady on horse. Never a good idea to get rid of Oldhammer stuff unless you’re desperate for the cash. There’s a lot of 3D STLs out there with DoW but I think they don’t look Oldhammer enough.

    • @DirgeDesigns
      @DirgeDesigns ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stompie51 Very few people can match the oldhammer look (STL wise). Ive mixed some Perry stuff where needed, but they sculpted a good bit of the DOW stuff so it fits pretty well.

    • @stompie51
      @stompie51  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Thing about STLs is they cannot resist the urge to go mad in Z brush with unnecessary details that look great on a massive monitor but are a pain in 30mm. I think Red Nebular on Patreon does a good job.

    I am just trying to get back into mini gaming. I love Mordheim and Blood Bowl but am still looking for other skirmish rules. Maybe something that would work well for Realm of Chaos warbands, orc and goblin raiding parties etc. Bigger than Mordheim but not huge blocks of rank and file like WFB.. Any tips?

    • @stompie51
      @stompie51  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for tuning in. Love it when people reach out. Kev Adams rules. Key thing to consider is do you have people to play with and what are they open to. I’ve played a lot of Dragon Rampant which is about twenty to thirty minis a side, quick games with some decision making but pretty beer and pretzels, ie you can play a chatty game in an hour and a bit. And use anything. Properly miniature agnostic. Saga Age of Magic I’ve played and it’s crunchier and as much a board game (resource management) as a wargame but the kind of scale you’re after. But there are lots of other smaller skirmish fantasy games out there.

      Thank you for sharing that. I recognise you have to be careful about what you say online as you don’t want to damage someone’s business. But equally I felt a duty to make people aware of reports of historical issues: I myself have made about three very big orders over the last decade. One came on time; one took three months; one took over a year and very regular chasing. But to be fair I got them all. And they do great quality sculpts and have a big catalogue of awesome old school sculpts. Not sure what to do going forwards.

    Here because I love the old 8/90s under bite look that are not totally snub nosed and they are getting harder to find.
    Thx for the showcase, showing the scales of the old stuff was very helpful.
    Mate hearing you bitch about postage, taxes, exchange rates and the need to make more model in the UK makes me laugh hard... typical bloody pom. Still UK is better than EU or US for my postage.
    Much love from Aus.

    • @stompie51
      @stompie51  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome! I do wonder why Oldhammer minis are getting harder to find. They don’t degrade if cast in the 90s. Have bad feeling they get binned.
      Are you saying “90% of minis get made in the U.K.; postage is never more than a fiver if you pay it at all as you can get it from your FLGS, usually with a 20%. I live in the a-hole of the world, as one our Prime Ministers once said, 1% of minis are made in Oz and getting anything posted here costs a fortune on top of taxes and in built additional costs because we are in the a-hole of the world”. But you have sun, sand and beaches. And we have Brighton. So I stand by my whinging. Collector gene all over as GW calls it😽

      @@stompie51 Just the best stuff is from the UK.
      All I have local is a GWS... :( they gouge the AUD$ exchange the hardest, next to maybe Japan. Which is what turned me to oldhammer.
      I can wait save up and buy in bulk to get the free international shipping, which is fine for the new plastics or from places like Perry etc but for hunting down the old rare one offs it becomes heart breaking seeing >15gbp for postage on one or two oop metal models, US sellers never bother shipping to AUS... lazy seppos.
      I think you're right even in Australia I've found random piles of metal; Grenadier Mirliton Citadel Essex etc, in garage sales or miss labeled ebay sales going for next to nothing and thought if not for me they would have been binned because they are not current GW models.
