+magurofan Hmm...check then Vivaldi, the 4 seasons...really, speedmetal Baroque on violin, like speedmetal in the 80's. Sure that you can headbang on that. :-)
yeah that's so true! haha the close up shots of every scene is so detailed just like how an anime does it. This can never be found anywhere else except here. just shows how Joe is so impressive
Wildfox you're so right, that's exactly how I felt ! and also the true anime fan will notice this....hahahaha I'm so proud~~^0^ we are all anime fans~~
I'm not sure if it's the way post-production was executed, but for some reason the piano he uses has the best tone and clarity I have ever heard. Everything is crisp, the resonance is beautiful, and the way it works in *ahem* concert with the cellos is absolutely amazing. Any way of finding out what the maker is?
Well, 13 years late but since someone else might want to know, Hisaishi usually plays a Steinway Model D in his concerts and yes, it's one of the most beautiful pianos I've ever heard
This is tremendous. Most any song with cello accompianists is very entertaining. For any cellists viewing this movie, you can clearly see that even the accompanying cellists have rather difficult parts! Intense piece overall.
i don't know how many times i've seen this vid along with his other ones...but every time i re-watch it..it feels like my very first time...BRAVO JOE!!..ur music always makes me inspired! u seriously are a GENIUS at what you do...
I love the starting. :) It felt so intense... like a force that was so big that it pushed him back! The composition totally fits the title, "Madness". I have said this so many times but I still have to say it! JOE HISAISHI IS A GENIUS!
oh, my god~~The music is quite powerful. I am a tai-gi techer. When I hear the music, all the energe come from my body and make me dance. It is really incredible. Thank you for sharing!!
My cello students (along with myself) have fallen hopelessly in love with this piece and want to perform it. How can one acquire the parts and score, please?
Even though I'm more than 40years younger than him, I still find his smile so incredibly captivating (after his no-less-than-extraordinary performance). ^^
@DerickNotName Improved - really? Well judging that this late tonal style (and just about every style since the year 1805) has been influenced by Beethoven I wouldn't really use the word 'improved.' This piece is really just mindless repetitions and ostinatos that no one has every really made work effectively the way Beethoven did. He practically invented this type of music. I would say its more of a 'downgraded/ watered-down' version of Beethoven.....way more.
@xxkanamesanxx yes but now there dead so i think they are no longer great composers because what are they composing. i think you have to be composing stuff to be a composer... and im not really a music buff so idk whos great and whos not, but saying they are better cuz they started it is bull. look at your computer is the computer you had ten years ago better cuz it was starting something? or how about the machines back in the 80s and shit
Different music style, there's no comparison. It's like comparing Michael Jackson and Teresa Tung from Asia, both great artists. I doubt Bach or Mozart could compose 'soundtracks' the same way Joe can, since movies and TVs are something outside of their knowledge.
@Rohen17 LOL I literally was like chuckling to myself while loading the song "I bet someone is gonna say this is madness", and then 0:07 HOLY FUCK *throws headphones off to avoid overstimulation*, where is my BUCKET! Buckets.
@Tyronor I realized this too. But its funny cuz I heard this song before I saw Porco Rosso. And when I was watching Porco Rosso and heard i'm like "why does this sound so familiar..... ooooohhhh!!". But yah i pretty much love this song.
@DerickNotName definitely an amazing composer. but to compare him to the likes of beethoven? modern composers only exist because of the greats like beethoven, motzart, strauss, and brahms and many more. they laid down the foundation for all modern composers.
@nooner09 Why would you try to do that anyhow? It sounds like something that a three year old would do! (No offense) Plus, if you put your cat in the microwve, he will get cat hair all over it, then you will have hairy cat food when you use it!
well thats an opinionated statement though, music is art, not skill if i put a picasso picture next to a van gough picture, and told you to tell me who is better, you couldnt reasonably tell me which one is better, just that you like one more than the other
Though it didn't fit very well to me, this song was in the movie Porco Rosso. Great movie though. If you want to know where it is in the movie, its when Porco is getting his plane out of the hanger from the secret police/Italian KBG.
@amplimax He does get recognition; sadly, most people don't analyze his music to this point, which is really a shame, because there are indeed a lot of compositional curios he employs. People like him because he makes "pretty songs."
@DerickNotName I agree, but his style is totally different from Beethoven. Beethoven tended to get stuck in dark powerful music but Joe Hisaishi is very capable with all sorts of styles, Mozart trills... Handel Energy... Brahms flow.. you name it.
If I was correct, this music hadn't been composed for any movies. Miyazaki just adopted this for the mad scene, taking off from a river, avoiding many bridges! And Hisaishi has much hair on the picture of the album ;)
FIRST OFF, the only thing Disney does (because all they did was import it to America) but its all made by a company called Studio Ghibli. Disney was responsible for the voice-overs and the commercialized aspect of it.
LOVE IT! But where can I buy this song? Like can I get it on Itunes or somewhere?? Cause I want to know cause I looked it up and I couldn't find it under Joe Hisaishi and didn't know if the title was right... 10000000000 stars
wow, sounds like something they would put on Final Fantasy, as like a boss battle... XD Great song... he never needs lyrics for his songs to be good, the lyrics come from the music itself... :)
@myhappy1004 chill out dude... 84 people seem to think it was funny, including myself. Sure, those comments about xxx people are yyy are "jokes", but do you want to see one top rated at every video?
Hisaishi Joe and Nobuo Uematsu are 2 very different composers utilising very different styles of music. As Nobuo Uematsu is to Games, Hisaishi Joe is to Anime. But yea, i know what you mean
@latronqui no seriously i wasn't being a smart ass the big guy with the long hair and beard looks like my friend except my friend doesn't have a beard or long hair they just look alike :P
I think you are exaggerating: Hisaishi may be a good composer, but certainly not "the greatest composer ever". And I doubt that Hisaishi would consider himself equal to Bach or Mozart.
It does! I felt like it was a cross between Hall of the Mountain King and Cirque du Soleil...lol. Is this from a movie or is it just one of his compositions? It sounds kinda familiar...
Wow An unexpected brilliant masterpiece by Joe Hisaishi. I love it though its much dif to his other pieces such as One Summer Day or Hana Bi. Amazing...
whilst listening to this piece it actually makes you feel angry but all i got was a picture in my head of an anime where it was a guy pacing the room in anger.
on his website, his last tour was about 70-100 Australian dollars for a concert ticket, but i guess that depends on your currency. about 7000 japanese yen.
@SorrowOrSnow haha sorry for not being clear. My comment was neither positive or negative, I merely wanted to state that this is a 'piece' of music rather than a 'song'.
I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like this track is composed of sountracks of various movies, but changed in a way that they sound creepy, and put together.
@bandrunner86 lol sorry, I was being a pedantic prick. Technically a song is a composition for voice or voice and accompaniment. This would be considered a 'piece' of music.
why bad? could you explain what it is that 4 / 4, and because it makes the work not so good? do not understand music, so I ask for an explanation. thanks
Doesn't matter that its played on piano and cello, this is heavy metal!
+magurofan Hmm...check then Vivaldi, the 4 seasons...really, speedmetal Baroque on violin, like speedmetal in the 80's. Sure that you can headbang on that. :-)
+magurofan You would like the band 'Apocalyptica', they play metal on cellos.
All by by
スリリングな曲調で各パートが真剣勝負って感じの緊張感がたまらん。
楽器の上手い人なら、この曲やるの最高に楽しいだろうな。
I've listened to this arrangement so many times and never get sick of it. So epic!!
Wait, wait, wait!!!!! I need to say this, does anybody noticed the angle of the scene looks like the camera is shooting an anime?
yeah that's so true! haha the close up shots of every scene is so detailed just like how an anime does it. This can never be found anywhere else except here. just shows how Joe is so impressive
Wildfox you're so right, that's exactly how I felt ! and also the true anime fan will notice this....hahahaha I'm so proud~~^0^
we are all anime fans~~
Stop laying eggs
When I hear that first chord strike, all that I can think of is:
"DAMN!"
I can't even imagine how amazing this would have been to see live. So captivating.
piano and cello, the two best instuments in the life
You forget the Viola... ;)
I actually prefer the erhu over the the violoncello, but piano is best.
Hahahahahahaha jokes on you, literally loled as i saw this
Yes! ❤️
Aurora zafra castaño jajajaj XD 😂

Such an aggresive work, unlike most of his other work. Can this guy do just absolutely everything?!
Awesome.
i didn't realize that my mouth was hanging open until the end, when the song ended and i shot my arms up yelling, "Woooo!"
i like this song :3
다외국인이네 한국인들 여기여기붙어라
슈비.리쿠 한국어 코멘트!!!!
This is tremendous. Most any song with cello accompianists is very entertaining. For any cellists viewing this movie, you can clearly see that even the accompanying cellists have rather difficult parts! Intense piece overall.
THIS. IS. EPIC!!! I need the sheets please :0
i don't know how many times i've seen this vid along with his other ones...but every time i re-watch it..it feels like my very first time...BRAVO JOE!!..ur music always makes me inspired! u seriously are a GENIUS at what you do...
Oh my gosh... It's not often you see someone like Hisaishi put so much raw emotion into music.
2:38 I like how he put the climax section with parallel fourth
That is perfection!
Joe Hisaishi for WIN!
I love the starting. :) It felt so intense... like a force that was so big that it pushed him back! The composition totally fits the title, "Madness". I have said this so many times but I still have to say it! JOE HISAISHI IS A GENIUS!
I love this song! It's amazingly composed, and so upbeat whilst still being dark enough to send shivers down my spine :D
途中のチェロめっちゃ好き
Wow! Really madness from the first drop of the note
that was finger madness joe.
So this is where Gaiaonline got one of it's Monster Galaxy themes.. I remember when that game used to be available..
oh, my god~~The music is quite powerful.
I am a tai-gi techer.
When I hear the music,
all the energe come from my body and make me dance.
It is really incredible.
Thank you for sharing!!
すごい迫力!
진짜 이게 제일 멋있다 한편의 추리소설을 읽는것처럼
긴장감의 기승전결이 아름답고 카리스마있는 느낌

the evil, mad look
awesome!
Their body language helps get the mood of this piece across as well. All in all, it is amazing and Hisashi is indeed a musical genius.=)
I love the cello! It's so versatile *w*!
I love kids playing his music. But I adore HIM and his fingers....just thanks to him, I trained piano so hard.... just can't get enough..
Somebody animate this please, that would be amazing
Coming back to this in 2022. Bravo Maestro Hisaishi!
My cello students (along with myself) have fallen hopelessly in love with this piece and want to perform it. How can one acquire the parts and score, please?
So dark... so strong... so sweet... so mad... So Joe Hisaishi... Ah! yo quiero componer como este maldito Joe!!!... Sugoi! Hisaishi san yeniuzu desu!
I need more song like this, any recommendation?
Arief Arfad Zanadhi Shostakovich cello concerto!
This reminds me of a lot of battle themes from Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy so it's a good place to start!
He is ef-ing insane!! WOW, im just blown awayyy...
this would actually make a good boss fight theme for an RPG.
Even though I'm more than 40years younger than him, I still find his smile so incredibly captivating (after his no-less-than-extraordinary performance). ^^
I love how Hisaishi recoils from the first note. As if the awesome of his own music is too much for him to handle.
@beccaotaku ehmm.... I think it was come from Porco Rosso, an anime movie made by Hayao Miyazaki.
this sounds amazing ... quite a refreshing change from all the sentimental pieces out there
@DerickNotName

As Nobuo Uematsu is to Games, Hisaishi Joe is to Anime.
But yea, i know what you mean
I really feel the madness Hisaishi wanted to show there. This man is a god :D
@latronqui
no seriously i wasn't being a smart ass the big guy with the long hair and beard looks like my friend except my friend doesn't have a beard or long hair they just look alike :P
I'm feeling an adrenaline rush.
If only there's more of this kind of music. They would be best for my workout, better than any rock music out there.
I think you are exaggerating: Hisaishi may be a good composer, but certainly not "the greatest composer ever". And I doubt that Hisaishi would consider himself equal to Bach or Mozart.

Watch Shoot the Violist Ithink its soemthing 794...
That song is amazing too!!!
Except it kinda stopped before it ended...
sob...
He is fing amazign
Need more chill ? Just listen to madness from Budokan concert.
wait, this should be in a kingdom hearts. not final fantasy.... because that music is really different, but kingdom hearts would be perfect i think...
@MerryGo528491 I think that he's sitting all the way to the left, he has a ponytail kind of hair, he's the one playing the melody part at 2:01
@freakystyley4000 it is kind of true, but it's also pretty stupid that you would compare such an amazing piece of music with a drug addict.....
@KevinVang1000 Nobuo Uematsu composed the final fantasy soundtrack
hisaishi composed many great movie soundtracks, but never a game soundtrack
The first chords sound like something you would hear if you chucked a piano down the stairs. Not that that would happen, because that's blasphemy.
Disney definitely did not give up 2D animation... Hence, The Princess and the Frog...
This guy's great. Didn't he do like... Princess Mononoke?
I found this video online! but i can't find the piano score for this.. anyone knows where I can get the score for this stunning composition?? xD
This is MADNESS!!
madness???
This is JOE HISAISHI!!
The one thing that would make the song better is for the photographers to stop moving so much. if im dizzy, it's harder to enjoy the music!
actually Joe Hisaishi is not liked by critics (who are obsesed with classical music), but who the hell cares about it? He's just awsome!
Post it as a video response. Don't spam up the comments section with this. You will also get more views by putting it as a video response.
@KevinVang1000 Sorry, but no he didn't... Google Joe Hisaishi's discography and there's nothing that says that he composed for final fantasy.
Actually "celli" is the plural in Italian, but in English "cellos" is correct (well, both are, but I've never heard anyone use "celli" before).
@KevinVang1000 oh... well, i'm not really really much of a gamer, so no wonder. but i looked him up, and yup, he's pretty good :)
@TheDark0905 Amazing, wonderful, an experience that wouldn't be able to be put in words. I would love to get to go myself, someday.
this is one of the most amazing pieces i have heard
the energy is just awesome
it'll be hard, mostly likely you'll have to buy it. Hisaishi is exclusive when it comes to sheet music for orchestral works.
its supported by Disney, but the production is still from Miyizaki's studio.
It is not a disney work as far as i'm aware of.
@lieutenant3vix lieutenant! this is ur colonel speaking.report to headquarters immediately..to receive ur punishment...insolent PUP!!
If a song was played in Hell, it could be this one. It is really mad, and I watch this vid over and over again.
mmmm dayum that's hisaishi for you, le ownage. I reckon it would have been a little cooler if it just went a TAD faster.
@Leadman1989 hahaha that's exactly the one I was talking about.... looks like an asian version of my ex boyfriend!!!
Sounds like music that would be playing if i were chasing my cat around the house trying to stuff it in my microwave.
Argh where I have heard this from?!!!!
Howl's Moving Castle? Laputa?? Nausicaaa???? Baaah it sounds so familiar!!!
i actuelly have the sheets, got it off from a french website, had to asume the french words and clicked any where
yea it wasa for lonly lfor a couple of seconds you know like shock you can breath or breath taking buety thats all
@OpacmanO1 He composed the music of Ninokuni, a game on DS and PS3. A future great game, just for the music :p
