Have to say the BEST Conan world history I have seen done. Would love to see more from other stuff such as more Conan individuals or other realms such as lord of the rings or l5r! Etc
Very informative! Thank you so much for making this. I've found it difficult to find information about Conan lore on the internet. I will definitely be looking out for the next installment!
Ha thank you and yes it is for that reason, I started to do it as there is so little out there on such a nice topic. Cheers and thank you for the nice words.
Egyptian said represents Greek Hades that would eventually take the land of Tartarus which is actually a place in the old Soviet Union near Kazakhstan.
So just out of interest, which of the Gods of Howard's Conan Universe (and feel free to throw in Lovecraft's as well since they were peers and throw in Game of Thrones while you're at it and Warhammer too why don't cha!) would you think is "real" or actually worship or follow and believe in? The Gods seem to be inspired by "real life" Gods as well as "real" aspects of life. Even Lovecraft's Gods seem analogous to some real deities and conceptsm, some of which are taken quite seriously today. In the films, it seems a variant if Dagon might have taken on the name Dagoth, similar to how Biblical deity names of "enemy gods" would take on "oth" like Ashtaroth for example. Well, it would not be surprising if it did. The creators of Warhammer def. took from many sources for a lot of their characters and worlds but for confirmation, there is none that I know of that say she was the direct source for Slaanesh.
Sir if I may, I am but a student and have a question ... Has anyone killed an avatar of any God in the Hyborean age to attempt to destroy and take place of a god or avatar? What would be the means of such? Is the magic of that world powerful enough to compare to the worlds of D&D -forgotten realms or dragon lance? Or , is it obsessed with steel as most humans of earth are today? Thank you for your time
Hmm I have only read the stories by Howard, but from what I can remember, no one has killed a God in Conan. And Howard and Lovecraft did write each other, so the Gods of Conan can range from Crom to Eldritch horrors. Thus, they are more hinted at than compared to D&D, thus it is a hard comparison. But if I had to make a decision, the D&D gods have been known to move planets and planes so I give them the win. So yeah, Conan is a much more grounded sword and sorcery than D&D.
Wait, what...Ishtar's priests and priestess are also......ok,..... definitely not going to any of her temples any time soon, especially on their holidays.
If you saw a picture of someone from the Caucasus region you would call them a terrorist, Aryan is just a straight up stolen term, and all white people aren't ALL anglo saxon thats just insane to even suggest .... its almost like race is a construct or something thats crazy
Not really as I have the most interest in the original Howard works and they are easily found online in word or audio form. So I think I would not be adding much to giving a summary of the stories. Thus why I focused on the Gods and history that are not as easily found online esp. in video form.
AkaiSamurai Oh I know what about describing each individual tribe in detail and how they affect the world? Their kingdoms, their culture, and how they contribute.
Ah, I thought about that before the Gods of Conan series but in all honesty, the info. there for most of the cultures is really short and will pro. not be very interesting as most of the cultures are just what they are in our history and a very short description of their history in Hyboria. In fact for the longer ones like Aqualonia, most of the info. is basically just the history of Conan but with some added details, which I already have done a history of Hyboria, ha. Thanks for the idea though! It is always helpful to have comments giving ideas so I can plan videos in the queue of research for the future.
Ymir is worshipped by the people of Nordheim but it is arguable if he is a God as he is a frost giant but even if one considers him a God, there are less than 3 lines about him in most descriptions. Thus, no need for a video for him, ha. Sadly, Howard died young so the lore of Howard's Conan is not that extensive.
But I guess grandma in 10000 BC got their gods from hyperborean age before it there was ancient Egypt or ancient Greece get the origin of the Buddhism came from dust to Ariel of these fictional universe yeah it's kind of how believable something like is whatever happened back then
Clicked in a hope to learn something new, listened to someone reading the wiki to me word to word instead.
Keep up the good work on Conan lore!
Haha, will do and thanks for watching.
Excellent job. You have a unique way of narrating the information that really makes the subject come alive. Thanks for the great videos.
Thanks again, I hope to improve and to give more good content. Oh and thanks for making my day better haha.
Excellent work my friend!10/10!!!!!!!😁🤘🏻

Well fascinating about the hyborian age ancient gods took from real-life mythologies
Ha, well Howard did base his world on the real world so each god's inspirations are quite clear.
Good video! Keep making these awesome vids :)

Hey, what music are you using? Sounds familiar.
Was Ishtar an inspiration for Slaanesh in warhammer? The emphasis on beauty and excess seems related.
Well, it would not be surprising if it did. The creators of Warhammer def. took from many sources for a lot of their characters and worlds but for confirmation, there is none that I know of that say she was the direct source for Slaanesh.
First Dagoth and now Asura. I'm begining to wonder what else Conan had influenced in The Elder Scrolls.
