How serious they both are about their outlooks and their goals to save/destroy. The way the animation slows down and wraps their faces and bodies at time is awesome. I'm happy they did something special and unique for that fight. They animated the Obito vs kakashi fight in a special way too.

You can only revive people under a 24 hour time period and nagato only uses the rinnegan when he raged. Beforehand he was a regular ninja until Yahiko died. Then nagato trained the rinnegan in the process it crippled him. Hence him using the path of pain because the chakra drain was alot.
The the fact nagato used yahikos corpse the most and acted as the leader of the paths shows how much he loved him and couldn’t accept his death ..this story is so phenomenal..
If I remember Kakashi died during this arc and the whole village got destroyed. It feels like it should have been the final arc and the finale was Naruto talking no jutsu to Pain feels like the editor talking to Kishimoto to continue the series.

He had the abilities and the potential was there, but his chakra reserves could not support this fighting style, whereas Nagato was perfect for it because he was Uzumaki. Nagato could afford to make rinnegan his entire fighting style because he had the chakra to use it to the full.

I preferred when the Rinnegan was its own super rare dojutsu. One that was steeped in creepy mystery and old school Indian Buddhist lore. I wish Kishimoto stopped with Pain being the big bad. Having war weary Rain orphans destroy the leaf is like having all of hashirama and madara’s mistakes come home to roost.
Some people theoritized back then that the rinnegan was related to the Uzumaki clan somehow, because it also resambles a spiral. It would've been a much better plot than it being an "evolution" of the sharingan, cause the MS was already broken, and it being linked to the rinnegan makes no sense at all.
Even by the end of the series, Nagato, Obito and Madara all shared the same pair of eyes. By the end of the series, only 2 characters awakened the Rinnegan: Madara and Sasuke If we add the lore too, it gets to 3 in total with Hagoromo

cuz nagato was just a uzumaki which barely qualifies him to use the rinnegan cuz of his chakra pool, while obito is a uchia which had half of his body made out of hachirama cells... even madara needet hashirama cells to properply controll the rinnegan

Also Nagato is the only character that has use every single rinnegan jutsu besides a unique ability cause it wasn't his. While Nagato not being a Uchiha or Senju is capable of having two rinnegans and able to spam it like crazy
