- Now we go to the spectacular Swiss HillClimb Championship, here at Ayent-Anzere, one of the fastest Hills in Europe and filled with the usual 2.0L Class 9.000Rpm+ Screamers, proper Turbocharged Monsters, Group B machinery, TCR units and more. In the end this is how they placed:

Wasn't the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky the North American version of the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220? GM did that whole badge engineering thing during that time.
@@broskimedula5300 they're not. the opel speedster is mid-engined and a lot lighter.
also, they're just ugly IMO, especially compared to the speedster.

Love that first BMW M3 E36,its not super fast but it have really great grip,pure weekend car.

Opel Kadet my favourite, Mk2 Golf second. You can take your turbochargers and throw them all in a skip, naturally aspirated is king.

@@Anna_KTZ yeah im sure but if your still doing a time trial the last thing you want to do is catch up to a slower car you have to go around. it might only be less then a second or a second but if you are chasing the best times you have to get off of your line / rpm range / gear to pass then it can kill your time
Yea, the car in front should've moved over for him to overtake it without time loss.
He can Redo his run if he wants to, he has the option to do that

This is a stupid question, but what is with the proliferation of TCR spec cars in hill climbing? Easy turn key performance?
Nothing much different from all the Porsche Cup cars, it's a strong, ready to go package. But demand grew to a point there are TCR classes being introduced.
Not a stupid question at all. Easy turn key perfomance is indeed the biggest factor. And yes, there are TCR classes being introduced too. But another big reason is how they fit on the new FIA Performance Factor used now in Hillclimbing. They naturally are built to Group 3 level and very much on the limit of it ;)

I find it weird that some of those old Golfs don't use rear spoiler. Is it all underbody downforce?
I'd say it could be due to a lot less weight and really good mechanical grip
@@streetfighter4006 perosnal choice here in this case, specially for Simon Wuthrich´s unit. The team that prepares that Golf (Turbienne Motorsport) focus way more on mecchanical grip ;)
U could start adding turbocharger specs ie. Garret 3071, PTE 6262

Whatever you love, give all your love and stomp the pedal to floor til she either floats the valves or asks for more.....man I love it. This hill climb racing never captured my interest for years. Probably because Pikes Peak was the only exposure I'd had, and on tv or the net which isn't like being there as we all know.
Not trying to "brown nose" anyone, this channel just kicks so much ass, after watching a couple of videos, I wanted to see more uphill craziness. It's between drag racing and slalom if you know what that is....or road racing (the ring) somewhat. I wouldn't mind seeing an old VW beetle/ghia/notchback fully prepped by the right shop and driven by a driver who has no concept of fear, never mind have fear. I'm not sure if they would make it to the top of the hill but I know for sure they would be a riot to watch until something engine internals related failed. Valve springs, maybe retainers...depends what original factory components are used. Unlike the mighty 911 which they saw fit to design and build extremely durable flat 6's for....here in the states I think I've seen at most 5 911's on the street that I could tell the driver was gettin' after it, driving it like a man. Not kidding. Bunch of pussy whipped....never mind. I could mention a lot more but there's no point. Not the time or place- hey h.c. monsters, race you to the top?! 😉☝️
Pikes Peak in the USA is also dominated by European and Japanese cars. Your comment makes no sense
you have wrong info on that Opel Speedster... Z22SE is naturaly aspirated 2.2L engine original not a 1.7 Turbo so one or the other is wrong
And the curious thing is that the engine was de-stroked and turbocharged in order to fit the E1-3000 Class ;) No wrong info there.

The z22 is very present in preparation, on the speedster.
Many drive with the compressor of the 2 liters, which is mounted on another vehicle.
