      I believe they said she was 79. That is very old for something like this. Even just being put under for routine surgery would be very risky at her age. Source: my grandfather just recently passed away after being put under for a surgery. He never woke up from the surgery, the left him in a coma for 3 weeks until the decision was fully made.

    The ball was litterly hit in the air above the fence. Thats not a direct shot, if you’re going to a baseball game you have to pay attention.

    • @PublicAtLarge
      @PublicAtLarge 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It went over top the safety net -- that's the key. It came down vertically enough to hit her right in the head. That's direct enough.

    • @corbinanderson6700
      @corbinanderson6700 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Jeremy Moses if i drop an apple from space its going to vertically fall down and could possibly hit someone in the head but you’re going to be able to see it for a while before it hits you. Same concept if the ball fouled over the saftey net its going to land somehwere and chances are its going to hit someone. Its weather or not the person is paying attention enough to be able to move out of the way or catch it. The nets are so high I guarantee she had more then 5 seconds to react to the ball.

    It’s not even the Dodgers fault. It’s sad someone died but clear they weren’t paying attention. If you’re in foul ball county at a baseball game you better be paying attention 100% of the time. Talk during the inning transitions but when play is going on you better be paying attention.

      I mean, she was a very old lady. If it was someone younger, I doubt this would've killed them. She didn't die instantly by the way, she died three days later in the hospital. So, my point is if a younger person would've gotten hit by a foul ball, they would've gone to the hospital, yes, but they would've recovered because, y'know, they're young and young people's bodies heal quickly. Sadly for older folk, they fall on accident they can make a bruise on their thigh that lasts for months.

      Probably because most people consider the life of a young girl objectivley more valuable than that of an elderly woman, even if they wont admit it out loud. Also the fact that this happened to this poor grandma didn't come out until long after the fact, likely because the family decided they wanted a payout.

    When you sit in seats (section behind home plate and just above the protective netting) that have a Good Probability of a foul ball coming at you.
    *You SHOULD Be Aware of that Probability at each pitch to a batter.
    *I personally, was in that same situation and I took my eyes off the ball for minute.
    *Suddenly, A hard hit foul ball came streaking directly towards me at the precise moment that I wasn't paying attention to the foul ball.
    *I was Tremendously Lucky as the foul ball Struck/Slammed into the empty seat next to me.
    *I was so stunned...I froze still for a second or more, Then I noticed and realized that a few fans Suddenly rushing towards me to pickup the foul ball for a souvenir that was now just laying just below the empty seat next to me.
    *I did at that moment,
    I Finally...WOKE-UP and picked up that foul ball for my keepsake.
    *Lesson Learned...Always Be Aware!!
    *note:
    That foul ball Struck the top portion of that empty seat next to me.
    Most Likely, Had that foul ball hit my seat. It would have Struck Me directly in my Upper Chest Area or My Face/Head.
    *I was Truly Fortunate.

    A person, a mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt lost their life and family and friends lost her. It's sad little, if anything was noted by the club until called out by family (about safety ie, could it be improved). What happened was terrible, but if you're going to take your 79 year-old grandmother to a game, you better be willing to take the hit yourself so she doesn't have to. Get a hand on it or something to slow it down or deflect it, c'mon now. I'm willing to bet that ball was in the air for 4-5 seconds which should have been more than enough time to realize, "hey, that's coming straight for grandma". I'm a firm believer that if you are going to bring a young child or an elderly person to the ballpark, sit higher up where your chances of this happening SIGNIFICANTLY drop.

    If I had to go to a dodgers game, I would be praying for a stray baseball to take me out.
    I hate that happened to that poor lady, though. I bet her husband was completely devastated after losing his wife after being married for so long.

    This has to be the most unlucky thing to happen, most unlucky way to go. Baseball players survive 90mph pitches to the face, and come backers to the pitches, yet foul balls are killers, at least a few.

    I'm baffled by the cruel and brutal comments saying she should've payed attention to the ball.
    If that's the case why not put warning signs outside the stadium? Danger, game in process, pay attention at the ball at all times, even if they fly high in the sky in the blinding sun. She was how old? 79? Why allow her in, think about reaction time, etc. Pitiless, cruel, brutal comments.

    • @ontledingen3348
      @ontledingen3348 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jeremy Owww my eye Stephens 1)that doesn't answer the ruthless comments. even if they're right there's no need to be so cruel. 2) that doesn't answer why you would allow a 79 year old in who can't have the preferred reaction time or maybe the physical ability. 3)I don't need to inform myself to criticize cruel comments for cruelty, why are you so indifferent to that? Someone died. You don't care about that side? You can only look at that in a mechanical, technical sense?

      george corona if it hits you especially going only like 75 mph I think it’s your fault you have to pay attention don’t go to baseball games if you’re not aware of what’s going on, and baseball is not boring you’re just not willing to learn the game, and how is it old fashioned? Aren’t all sports old? And it’s not like crappy quality items. Also every single thing in this world is deadly literally not one thing can’t kill someone if your at a basketball game let’s say a ball hits you it’s not dangerous but It can be so everything has a risk to it, even sitting at home on the couch you can die what if you drop something and lands on you, you can die it’s not likely but it happens, so I just think people have to pay more attention to the game, there is even signs that say to be cautious for baseballs.
