I’ve just really started getting into selling my artwork on PODs. There was an original photograph that I had made into multiple items, suddenly my shop was taken down and accused of copyright violations. There was no option to take the graphic down or an email warning. I even tried to contact customer service and had proof that the graphic was an original. It didn’t matter. Then found out that they had done this to a number of artists. Now I’m glad, I apparently dodged a bullet.
You 100% did! They are a terrible company and you can definitely do better :D
This happened to me too. I hate Redbubble!
Same thing happened to me. I had been selling on that platform for over 8 years. Redbubble is TRASH!!!!
Me too. With my own artwork!!! 😂 bunch of twats! Be glad to see the back of them 😂
Same thing happened to me. My store got shut down, no warning, no recourse, no way of finding out why. Either way I'm rather glad now after learning all of this.
It's been a year that Redbubble has been making money from my designs, not me. I have not received any funds for a year
left the greedy pigs last year, especially as my sales had dropped to mainly stickers. they are getting greedy probably because they are doing badly. everyone should leave the greedy ones to encourage better companies not to go that way
ye I really hope bigger sellers leave them
At this point print on demand is not a business but rather an affiliate program where you make pennies for helping them sell their products.
with Redbubble for sure! Not with all companies though. I'm bringing in between $6-$11 profit per T-shirt sold, so it can still be very profitable if done right with the right platforms
@@shimmymorris1which platforms?
Is Redbubble TRYING to put themselves out of business? I voted with my feet, and I'm sure a lot of other people are swerving Redbubble too.
i have no idea what their long term plan is but who ever is in charge is clueless
I left as soon as the new tiers went up. Sorry, I'll struggle with Shopify instead. I hate Etsy (long story), but I'm doing ok to start on Shopify.
You think you did. I'm pretty sure your designs will still be sold by another accounts on their platform and redbububble and the thief account will still get the ( your ) money on their pockets. cause RB allows. It happened to me. Still happening . And theres is not much we can do about unless Australian politicians and justice opens scrutinity on this company but it seem they are not very interested in doing so...please come back here in sometime in the futute and tell if i'm wrong...i have dozens and dozens of takedow request forms that i filed against thieves accounts , and they know the designs are mine ( IP owned ) and still letting people upload these designs to be sold on their platform still and even ( cherry on the top of the cake ) using my account name on the title of the products with my stolen designs. and btw my account was finished/cancelled by them for no reason and no explaination given whatsoever. Always did right : sold my original designs , sold designs that i bought on stock with full POD commercial license and public domain stuff...never stoled any design from someone and never infringed any copyright from any company. Always walking the straight line, never spamming , had hundreds of sales , alwas did the right thing
@@aquariumlife2929 that really, really sucks. I'm sorry it went so bad for you. POD is a minefield of its own, the same thing can happen on Etsy. Some sellers are unscrupulous, and don't care who they screw over.
My account was suspended a few months ago and I'm never ever going back there again. I was so depressed for weeks because I was beginning to make more sales and they smacked me down. Hope they rot in hell those bastards.
Do you know why it happened?
They are the worst platform for POD. Everyone should leave ASAP
@@shimmymorris1 They never told me why but I have a pretty good idea why but I won't disclose it here. Suffice to say it's about the ongoing world events. Now I see it as a blessing in disguise though.
RB really stands for Rotten Bastards.
how to telling me you're selling copyrighted design without telling me you're selling copyrighted design
Got suspended just because i edited a design. Worked for 1 whole year full time on RB. It's not worth it. A waste of time and also it does not have the potential
totally! Out of curiosity, did you make any money in that year with them?
@@shimmymorris1 only $70 that was the first money that i made online and was really excited to take the payout but before getting the money my account was suspended. People need to understand that RB don't have the potential it's a dieing company. I don't have any hate because of the suspension, but it is what it is. It's not worth it.
I just deleted my shop there. Their fees suck and there are betterl options as you said. The thing is, if you spend an amount of money for ads, you are left with nothing... is deffinetely not worth it
For the last year I have been on and off about joining the Bubble. Having not yet taken the plunge I am now justified in not going with them. Same goes with Etsy.
Out of curiosity, how come not Etsy?
Yeah don't bother at this point!
Shops get taken down on etsy too without explanation.. effectively ruining each company they do it to... Plenty of yt about it..
Don’t know why these platforms aren’t focusing on innovation, making their platform better, driving traffic. Instead, they sit around figuring out ways to fee gouge their designers. What would they sell if designers withdraw all their designs?
The breakdown of tiers/pricing you have described here is really eye-opening and defining. I started on RB years ago, about to put them in 'File 13' thanks to their practices. And yes, their 'help', is now quoting their own FAQ's which are specifically designed to be nefarious and give the 'Oh well!' attitude.
Maybe one of the main reason why many sellers still selling their design in Redbubble because they don't have to market or promote the design/product. Because it is print on demand marketplace. They don't wanna wasting time to do marketing. They just want researching, designing, and uploading. Maybe you can share with us in the next video about the best alternatives Redbubble. Thank you Shimmy for making this video
You're right, which is why I'm always pushing Amazon and Etsy
@@shimmymorris1 I wonder what the trick is to get into Amazon. They turned me down even though I already publish books through KDP
@@shimmymorris1those websites require advertising
I joined RB, Jan '23. I started with low risk low reward expectations to get my feet wet in POD. But after a few months of hard work and building a few sales, they throw in those extra charges. The margins were ridiculous anyway(but I knew what I had signed up for) but the new tier system was just salt in the wound. I haven't left but I have not uploaded since. I may use Etsy for some digital products but I don't want to manage tons of follow up, and possibly Amazon (don't really trust them either) so I'm thinking Shopify and marketing is the way for me. Nothing is really going to work without marketing yourself anyway. It's what I thought would be the end game for my POD and digital products from the beginning. Own your own assets, capture your actual clients, invest gradually as a real business does, do the work (marketing), and don't put your fate in "their" hands. I appreciate your update video on this topic, it confirms that I will not put another minute into RB.
yes 100% a shopify store and running your own marketing is the way to do it now
Sounds like Redbubble thinks creatives are their serfs. So glad I am not on that platform!
that is why I left when they introduced that scheme last year - knowing the prices for tshirt from the manufacturers - they ripping the artists off!
completely!
Forget Red bubble people. Thanks for the info!
Lots of strange news about this company. I will skip redbubble and stick with MBA and spreadshirt.
Spreadshirt rejected a lot of my designs. Now my status is "lost in space". Plus, I don't make any sales on spreadshirt. I currently have only 4 dollars in my spreadshirt account and it was there sitting since July 2023.
makes a lot of sense
If I increase my commision will the fee increase?
I gave up on them. This is greed. And they aren’t the only ones. Everyone is turning the screws to the hardest workers and it’s not worth it anymore.
ye, at $1.16 per sale it would never be worth it
This is so insane for someone who’s barely getting started!!!! Do you have a video on driving traffic through Etsy or Shopify out there? Thank you in advance! Love your content
Thank you!!! I have a bunch of Shopify content coming. In terms of Etsy, it's more about optimising your listing and making the right designs so you get picked up by the algorithm
@@shimmymorris1 awesome!!!! I can’t wait for the Shopify content 👏 thank you for your response and great content
Based on this video, looks like RedBubble wants to give the new artists a fighting chance to sell their products. Thank you for this information. I will now be looking to place products there!
Sarcasm?
@@shimmymorris1 Actually no. I just signed up to them
They took down my account without an explication after almost two years. Don't know what I did wrong.
this is what they do...
YES it's dead. By their own greedy hand.
So why don't a bunch of you artists get together and start your own POD company, a la United Artists Studio? Keep it a private company so there'll be no profit pressure, and you can concentrate on being the best place for your fellow artists. Stop putting your future in the hands of profiteers.
Can someone recommend me a good POD site?
True and frustrating, question is where to sell at all...? sigh..as being in Croatia many places are not connected to my corner,,,
I have checked and Etsy is a possibility if you're in Croatia
R.I.P Redbubble
indeed!
Thank you very, very, very much for continuing to tell the truth about this company and denounce it. Redbubble is the first digital shylock platform I know of. You're probably one of the only youtubers who is sincere and honest about the print on demand business. 👍🙏
thank you!! I see too many people promoting this company and it's just not right
For 5 years no sales
i'm so sorry! I'd love to take a look at your designs and see if I can work out why
I am a new seller and since I placed a lot of designs (like around 10), I was moved to premium in a few days.
ridiculous! i'm happy for you but it's crazy
Must be nice lol. Good luck!
It's hard to get on to amazon shopify etsy etc costs money comes with a risk so what do we do I know for some people that money maybe small but for some of us we struggling and don't know where else to turn to sell our art that we passionate about.
Why does Amazon have more risks than Redbubble? Etsy I understand it's 20 cents per listing after the first 40 free... but that's really it
@shimmymorris1 I really want to get on to MBA but I live In South Africa and trying to get a US account is that possible also I didn't know etsy gives you 40 free listings
@@shimmymorris1I think people are cautious about Etsy because fulfillment fees to Printify for example, are taken from the seller first. So, for someone just starting off, a couple hundred dollars would be required if a bunch of sales were made, and difficult for some hoping to change their fortunes. Also, dealing with 'comebacks' personally can be a hassle, time wise. 😮
Just looking at that perspective, but Etsy and Amazon (which doesn't have those particular issues) are behemoths, so definitely in agreement about trying there. Interesting content, thanks.
Any tips on getting accepted into MBA?
The margin for artists to earn is sad. I never got my site to have consistent sales.
it's just not worth it
Awful company, not worth investing anytime into RB.
nope not at all
Pretty happy they banned my account for absolutely no reason whatsoever before I got a chance to waste time uploading designs.
haha nice!
Well to be honest redbubble sounds like it's ready to be a train heading on a train wreck, and eventually won't even be thought of if they start loosing their good sellers to these demands. You don't throw the chickens in with the wolves, because the chickens won't come out. You will end up having no eggs to sell.
exactly, I really wonder who is keeping them in business
Sneaky sneaky stuff, redbubble
Redbubble are doing the exact thing a business like this must NEVER do:
They are making business decisions to try and get their "fair" share of customer success.
Whenever you have a business service you provide, and your customer uses that business service to make a boatload of money, it is of course tempting to say "that customer would not have made the money without me, I deserved more of it." But if you want a bigger share of that customer's money, you need to provide them with additional service. And if they don't WANT additional service, like for example if they rightly note your additional service is a massively overpriced cash grab, you'll have to engage in some corrupt bullshit to get their money.
Once a company decides they're okay with engaging in corrupt bullshit, it's over. Get the fuck away from them. It's NOT going to get better.
ye except no one ever made a boatload of money from redbubble... which is why this news is an even bigger slap in the face
Where else can you go? Etsy is also expensive, Amazon is just as strict but worse since they collect your tax/ID information so you cant even get a new account after suspension. What about Printify, Printly, Teespring?
etsy is expensive.. how so?
I don't put effort into red bubble. I design once and uploaded on any platforms including red bubble
Its a volume thing. You literally have to sell a crap load of shirts and stuff to make up for the fees with POD. Ultimately you need to get your own equipment and supplies to make any kind of decent profit.
not all pod. My most popular price at the moment is $26.99 for a t-shirt. That's making $16+ profit per sale.
The stock has tanked 95% in 4 years. That probably has something to do with it.
So how does one get out of the standard tier?
they say by getting sales... but I haven't tried, nor do I plan to
I got into premium by uploading high quality png designs and original art. Do not use anything copyrighted. To get into the highest rank that's where all the sales come into play
how many sales are you getting?@@BluekittieVT
@@shimmymorris1 only just recently got my first sale a week or so ago.. only have about 30 designs up so far... I Tried to get a Amazon Merch but somehow I failed to get in and I hate that they dont state any reasons for why you get rejected.
@@BluekittieVT I too had the same issue
They are blocked my account for copyright infringement... Yes my biggest mistakes not to check it before upload...but now I'm happy because if they doesn't block my account I will be lost a lot of time to upload unnecessary content.. 😊😊
Always best to avoid copyright stuff, but nice for moving on
Yes I received an email on January from them saying that made me furious …
I would be too
I didn't want to throw everything away, so I just changed the margins to 200% in the hope that RB would see sense, at which time I would redo these to sensible values. I still get sales, which blows my mind. Haven't uploaded anything new to RB since they made these silly changes.
gosh, that is crazy. but nice one for getting sales... are you on etsy or amazon, because i'd love to know if you're getting sales on redbubble, how many you're getting on these other bigger platforms
@@shimmymorris1On amazon (only tier 100) and get occasional sales (a few few month). Not a huge priority right now though
Futurability is SO important !! 😄😂
haha yup!!!
There's a small typo in the title. It's "Redubble" instead of "Redbubble".
thank you!
Deadbubble 👎🏼
Peepublic 👎🏼
hahaa
Oh well, so what now? Are teepublic and threadless a good options?
Have you tried Etsy and Amazon?
@@shimmymorris1Amazon reject new accaunt, its hard try
@@shimmymorris1 Amazon is seemingly off the cards for now, and yeah etsy is a good option
Do they do print on demand@@shimmymorris1 ?
Teepublic shut my store down with no explanation. All my work was original and not offensive in any way. I will be creating my own shop.
They don't even have that much traffic to their website like they used to
I know! it's mad... their traffic is going down but their prices are going up
I was banned for no reason from Redbubble 2 weeks ago. Shimmy, do you like crypto? I'm going to send you a shirt as a gift for you to wear in one of your videos. By the way, your Newsletter is excellent.
aw that's annoying, but honestly i wouldn't bother with them. Yes I do like crypto. and that's very sweet of you but I don't really wear crypto t-shirts...
Everyone who has a Standard account redbubble will have their account closed sooner or later
Always good advice and content - many thanks 👍
thank you! appreciate that
This site is terrible! Just banning anyone using the duplicate feature then never responding to artists. RIP redbubble, the P is for poop.
hahaha rest in poop i like that
Any better options for us??
Have you tried Etsy and Amazon?
@@shimmymorris1 No..i am trying everything for free..should i spend some money and create Etsy store?
Hey just some feedback, change the title of the video to something different. Same idea but more mysterious
You have a good thumbnail that grabbed my attention, but your title immediatley cued to me "oh he's just exagerrating some QoL issue or something"
Like the mystery goes away
If you changed the title to communicate what it already says, but in a less "amateurish" way, i feel this video would gain even more traction
Care to give an example?
It would be pretty hard to guess what they did from the title…
I don't like mystery titles. You end up wasting time trying to find out only to realize you are not interested.
Greed rears its ugly head once again.
YUP!
Just closed my account. Good-bye Redbubble and good riddance. :-)
nice one
Redbubble ate my babies
WAIT WHAT?
❤Little Love From 🇮🇳😊
thank you!
I think that's fair, I wish Etsy would do the same. I think that it's fair to give the new guys a chance, instead of keeping stores with 1000s of sales shadowing the new kids. Reddit on the other hand is very oppressive, you have to earn the right (karma) to enjoy and comment other Redditors. I was there when the internet first started and it's sad to see how oppressive it has become.
you think the fees are fair? and that getting $1.16 per sale is fair?
you are absolutely correct no ine i beleive will have second opinion
Thanks for info and amazing value.
you're welcome!!
Leave Redbubble. What a ripoff.
yup, a total joke
Deleted me, done with them now
nice
Sorry, man you got no where but repetition for content to fill a video. 👎
