Thank you so much for this. My new precious bunny just bit me pretty hard, and latched on for a second. He was super excited when I was giving him his treat puzzle, and ouch, he bit me good. Now I know why. I kind of thought that might be the case.
definitely experienced the "get out of the way" butt nip as well as the "youre not paying attention to me" nip. very rarely he's also lunged and growled at me for interrupting him while hes doing something hes not supposed to, but its been a while since that happened. with the nipping ive found that going "OW!" doesnt discourage him since hes doing it on purpose but physically turning around and putting my back to him seems to shame him into apologizing. they really are sensitive about the cold shoulder, i was shocked that it worked after reading about it.
Your bun has such a spunky personality! that's so cute! And you're doing a great job finding techniques that work for your rabbit. That's always the best way to do it!
I can tell that's a lot of experience talking--super informative! We look forward to seeing your channel be a source of solutions & wisdom to LOTS of people. Loved the spoon idea too; is a plastic spoon safer for their teeth, or doesn't it matter?
Yeah! I hope to be able to help a lot of bunnies and their people. I suppose a wooden spoon would be best for a rabbits teeth, I've just always used plastic spoons since that's what I've had available
I have a male cottontail rabbit that most bite when in contact with skin. He loves to jump on top of me but I'm often scared of the nips. I wish I can train him to do more tricks. We usually do races and he fellows me to the restroom .He loves standing by the shower when I'm in the shower he could be nice but the biting makes me upset. Nice video
I think my bun may be bi-polar 😁. In all seriousness, though, she’s super friendly and will go right up to strangers that come into my house begging for pets. She is super gentle and patient with my kids. She has a special bond with my 6 year old. Myself, on the other hand, we do have a bond, but she growls at me quite a bit. One minute I’ll be petting her, and she’ll be totally content, and the next minute, she’ll be growling and lunging at me. There have been a few times where she’s bitten me really hard without provocation. She’s definitely food aggressive, which I understand, but I don’t understand why she bites for no reason. I’ve learned my lesson to not try to pick her up. Getting her into her carrier for a vet trip is a huge process. She has been spayed for about 3 months now, and the litter box training was almost instantaneous, but her aggression hasn’t changed. Is this normal?
My Netherland dwarf (the white one in my pic) he’s super territorial. He lunges at you and if your not quick enough he latched onto your finger and not let go. My hands are always black and blue because of him. What can I do about this xx
Im not sure how to take our bunnys behavior. Shes about 3 months old. She digs at us with her front paws, then pulls with her teeth on our clothing. Is that play or agression? Boredom? Grooming? They always have chew toys, food, and treats throughout the day
This means they want you to “groom” them (a.k.a. give pets and scratches and love). Does she nip at your clothing when you stop petting? Mine does this, but ends up biting hard. It means she’s upset that I stop petting her lol. But I don’t like the hard biting when I stop petting her. I don’t know if she’s meaning to bite my clothes and gets a chunk of my skin, or if she’s meaning to bite me hard.
My pet rabbit hated my father and would have a piece out of him at any opportunity, even to the extent of actively searching him out to have a go at him. He even bit him through the bottom of a fabric deck chair and then did joyful binkies all round the garden. Laugh? we nearly peed ourselves. I this case it was pure dominance, he saw Dad as a competitor and as alpha male he wasn't having that. That same rabbit also did unspeakable things to our neighbour's Burmese cats.
@@dianefarley37 He attempted to mount them and mate with them. By the way they looked at him, he may have taken one by surprise and succeeded. He also sprayed them with urine. Male rabbits are not very nice.
Hahaha “unspeakable things” 🤣🤣🤣 Before my bun was spayed (female), she used to mount my 110 lb. 11 year old black lab. He was not having it. He’d run away as fast as he could 🤣
I have my first rabbit, and she is totally not what I was expecting lol. My first question is, what dose it mean when she starts to try digging into the clothes im wearing? She jumped up on the lounge the other night, sat next to me and just peed. So since then I'm always scared she is going to wee on me, and then the digging is the lead up to it.
Shes a girl. Does (female rabbits) dig a lot bc of when their pregnant they wana make a safe good spot to have their babies. If shes not spayed that could be a reason ,, not 100% sure tho .
My rabbit usually walks backwards into a corner and her tail and bottom raises a bit then she will do a wee. She has a litter box and does use it but sometimes on the rare occasion she will do a wee when she is in her play pen or if she jumps on the couch so I put a plastic cover or a cover that can be washed on it so she doesn't ruin the furniture.
My rabbit has been super nice she stayed in the garage now I brought her in. The house she’s been okay for 3 weeks at first then my family came and their little boy wash hitting the cage and scaring her and now when I try to grab her she growls and bites and messes up her cage and tries to eat the cover on it and eat plastic that’s around her cage what can I do to stop this ?
My rabbit has bit me 3 times this week twice he has lunged and bit me and drew blood up I never pick him up. He bit me today for no reason I wasn’t touching him and I wasn’t in his way he just ran over and he bit me. I’m lost at this point.
Had you been touching another animal like a dog or cat before seeing your rabbit , as sometimes they don't like the different smell so make sure you wash your hands before touching your bunny if you hadn't been touching another animal I don't know why your rabbit would purposely run over to you and bite you.
@@paigemorgan1019 if he doesn't live with other animals now, he may not like other smells that he is no longer familiar with. Just trying to find a reason why your rabbit would bite you. He should be pleased to see you being as you feed and look after him not want to bite you
The only time my buck tries to bite is food agressive. After food has been in his cage for a few hours i take it out, such as hay he peed on or greens he didn't eat. When he jumps at me i ball my fist up and push my hand towards him showing him I'm not afraid of him. Then he goes to the back of his cage. I don't want to neuter him he is my breeding buck. Luckily he's a lover to his ladies. Lol. Mr Romeo.
I have a Holland Lop and my sister has a boy bunny the same kind. Whenever my bunny goes near to him they fight and bite each other. Of course we intervened. Why do they do that?
Rabbits are very territorial & they may see the other rabbit as the enemy. Have u bonded them properly? Are they both neutered? Bunnies don’t usually have ‘playdates’. They are either bonded or not. It is not a good idea to put 2 rabbits apart & together again & again. It will stress them out. Bonded rabbits should never be separated. Either spay/neuter them & then bond them & keep them together always, or keep them apart, at all times. Do research on this to make an informed decision. Ask ur vet, too. Good luck!

May I ask Is it a baby bunny or your child. If it's your child I would get rid of the rabbit.
