- Marion, Virginia in Smyth County is a bustling small town in Southwest Virginia. It has a lot of activity and events to keep locals and visitors entertained. The Dip Dog stand is so famous that even the rock band Aerosmith stopped by for some grub.
yall really inspired me to move out here i live up in vansant, va right outside of grundy. and i would say as a african american i expected resentment from the community but i found nothing but love the past week or so i’ve been here 🖤

Aww It was so good to see you two. Congratulations on your sweet blessing. Enjoy that blessing, they grow up so fast. I miss when my son was little and my grandsons too. I two like ketchup on mine but I have to confess I do miss a little mustard no and then with my ketchup, just to get that tangy taste. I love seeing these small towns and the countryside. Since I have gotten to the age I am and not having my traveling partner anymore I don't get to see these places. We had always planned to visit Virgina, Wes Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee one day as we loved these states when we traveled through driving a truck but unfortunately God had other plans because He decided to take my husband home.

We have lived in a few states, but we now live in Vinton, VA.
We spent my husband’s birthday, last year, driving around Marion and him sharing stories with me about his childhood. Some of those stories had me laughing so hard! We even had a hot dog at Dip Dog.

Awesome to see yall posting again! Trust the new addition is getting along ok!! I used to camp @ Hungry Mother State Park. When I would get bored I would cruise through Marion. It is a beautiful area!

Oh my goodness! It is so great to see another video. You certainly chose an awesome place to visit. Marion is a beautiful little community. I believe that it should be one of the places in VA that all people should include on their list. When I was a teenager, I was visiting friends and we decided to go swimming at Hungry Mother State Park. Never will forget the visit as I had to be pulled out by a lifeguard. Haven't been back since. I was wondering if you have considered visiting Schuyler, VA, the home of Earl Hammer, creator of the TV series, "The Waltons?" It is a beautiful little historic community. Good you see you folks again. Thank you so much for this wonderful video.By the way, I sent you some bread for Valentine's Day and the box was returned. I suppose you have closed your P. O. Box.
Oh no, so sorry to hear that. We had a mixup with the post office. They misapplied our payment and closed our box for a week or so but it is straightened out now, thankfully. Yes, we’ve been wanting to do a video on Marion for a long long time so we were happy to get to check it out. We would love to get to Schuyler and have talked about it a lot. Just hoping we can get it worked out to go.

Thanks for the great video! I'm glad you gave us a look at the mental institution because I had heard about often growing up, but I haven't seen it prior to this video. I remember people referring to it in negative ways like calling it "the nut house" and so forth, but even as a kid I realized that was something said in ignorance. Mental health issues are very commonplace, and sometimes people need help, and it's nice to know that there are places that can actually do that.
