I strongly believe that there should be a separate trophy for the public vote's winner. And if the participant wins both juries and public, it's a golden trophy.
Im not sure but I actually think those trophies are given out backstage, saw something like that last year. Good idea nonetheless. Would love to see that if it isnt a thing already

I think this is the first time that the 2nd placed song have received 133 more televotes than the 1st place song. There were 2nd place songs in the past that received more televotes than the winning song but only in a difference of 30-40 votes if I'm not mistaken.

man... you know what? last year ukraine got so many points for pity, but their song was so unique, half rap half inspired by folk music, and people still like it a lot. It still deserved a ton of points and might have won anyway or came a very close second, Europe just loves whatever Ukraine puts on Eurovision for good reasons.

This was like 2019 when Netherlands was neither the jury favourite nor the televote favourite, yet got 1st place anyway. Only in 2023, the juries got what they wanted: their favourite Loreen to win.
The awkward moment when people are shouting 'cha cha cha' while loreen is winning Eurovision proves only one thing: that the voting system is a joke! Loreen doesn't deserve that for she is a great perfomer, but people should be able to vote directly for their number one without the ugly intervention of a jury!!!

Juries need reform but scrapping them would just send us back to the low quality years of the 2000s. There’s a reason why they brought back the juries in the first place

The day they skip the Jury system for public only votes is the day I will stop watching ESC. The public always votes for crazy party entries. It wouldn’t be a Song Contest anymore. I loved Finland, but balance between Jury and Public is extremely important imo.

Otherwise with only one voting system it will just make the results completely lopsided. A winning entry in the final is determined on higher consistent jury and televote results which Sweden had more than Finland. 1st and 2nd compared to 4th and 1st. With that being said Sweden was the rightful winner 🇸🇪

Loreen won peoples heart. Cha Cha Cha was designed to win televote, Tattoo was designed to try and win both. She had more then 200 points on the televote too, and her performance atleast had value in vocals, songwriting and staging. it was much much better. Tattoo: more then 500m streams, Cha Cha Cha: 150m streams. So it fucking unfair that normal performances cant win televote, just joke entries, so artists have to make a choice like loreen, and then get backlash. Loreen deserved it. She still got more then 200 points on the televote, and there is only this huge of a backlash because Cha Cha Cha fans are louder.

As soon as i realized portugal wasnt going to win, i stayed to root for finland...i am usually not a fan of noise music and its not the type of song i would listen to in a daily basis but i do acknowledge that eurovision is for festival and party songs, i wanted energetic song to win. People have fun while listening to it, this is what we need...it should've won.

This year was so unfair. There were so many good artists and unique songs in native languages of young people who deserved to at least be appreciated for it. Don't tell me this wasn't staged. If it wasn't for the Jury Voting Sweden wouldn't win because guess what she already won once and she's an established singer in the industry. Why was she even allowed to take part in the competition again? She came back with the excatly same sounding song and took away the victory from Finland and maybe potentially other countries. @@gameg344 Well, the part where countries declare votes one by one is still interesting and without juries you could not give. Here in Italy we have a fun fight with San Marino about the fact that it never gives 12 points to Italy. It's part of the game. I imagine similar things happen between other countries. All it takes is that the vote of the juries counts less than that of the public. Around 30% or even 25% of the final score.

I love Loreen but seeing Käärijä not winning Eurovision is my biggest disappointment of this year.
I will never understand why eurovision let her participate second time. She has already won and already received her success. This looks like that she a well grown woman came back to take other young artists dream and success. Its not fair. The contest wasnt equal. Very successful artist and common artists were trying to win. Even her expressions didnt show that she was surprised. While walking to the stage she tried to show that she doesnt believe she has won. But it was obvious right after jury vote. I wont say that she didnt deserve winning. The song was real good and she performed well. This is just not fair to other contestants.

I love Loreen but seeing Käärijä not winning Eurovision is my biggest disappointment of this year.

Except they didn't win an thank God for that the song is absolute trash it pains me to see what people vote for these days. Happy there is still jury votes in the final to protect this competition from becoming just a freak show. At least this way there are still some quality songs that compete.

Juries can stay, but their power should be lowered. It should be something like 25% jury votes and 75% public votes.

I congratulate Finland and Ukraine with victory on Evrovision. Because Loreen has stolen the melody in Ukrainian singer Mika Newton ( the song " V Plenu").
First I thought it was just the usual "plagiarism" bs talk but when I listened to Mika Newton's V Plenu it was beyond doubt they took the melody ideas from there. What a shame.

Truth be told, if the difference between jury votes and public votes weren't so blatant, I think people wouldn't be this pissed off right now. If Sweden had won only by few points, it would've made sense. Now It just looks real fishy when you think about it. How convenient it is that next year is Abba's 50th anniversary, and the win came only because of the jury votes. There were really huge discrepancies between the jury votes (and compared to public votes).

I agree. She got 296 jury points for Euphoria on a year that was not anything special - and I think Tattoo is a much less interesting entry than Euphoria. So either 2012 was more packed with gems than I remember or the juries overhyped her this year or the lack of typical pop entries skrewed the jury voting in Loreen's favor.

not my winner. not a bad song necessarily (i mean i didn't like it but it's not awful even to my taste and obviously judges like it) but it just feels so manufactured. like all the hype beforehand was her, and for her to win again. the song was good i guess, again I'd put it probably only in my top 10, but it wasn't bad. what i think is dumb is how there was such a disparity. yes she was second in public voting but she was second by a lot, the public liked Finland better by such a huge amount. combine that with the fact that the juries like Loreen better by such a massive margin, again it's just such a disparity that you have to recognize there is a problem. and the fact that Abbas 50th is coming makes it seem almost too perfect to be true. I would understand a bit more if she had won by a closer margin. but she won by so much and it all came from the jury, that it just made it seem fake to me. just my thoughts.
How desperate do you have to be to enter Eurovision again after winning. Imagine re-taking your driving test 10 years after you've already passed. This was the most anti-climactic win, I was sitting and watching in the room with 3 people who were rooting for Loreen and as the votes were coming in and it was getting apparent that she was gonna win, they all had a change of heart and started rooting for Finland and other entries cause they realized how unsatisfying it will feel if she wins again and that speaks volumes
It's because her career flopped/never took off after eurovision. Most winners don't want to go back and do it again because they have other things to do.

It's the nature of the beast. Simplicity rules. To win a vote from the public, just make sure you have a simple rhythm that you can jump up and down to and a chorus that involves repeatedly yelling "Fart! Fart! Fart!".

This is the first time I believe it was rigged, just so that ABBAs 50th anniversary could be in Sweden. What a convinient win. Sweden was no ones favorite in the public vote, theys didn´t receive 12 points from any country in the public vote (the statistics don´t lie). Finland got the second highest telvote points in the history of the ESC (beaten only by ukraine).
This year was so frustrating.

The people's winner is Finland and he is the rightful winner of this year's Eurovision. The juries should be abolished. Why do we give 180 people the power to overturn what 200 MILLION people think?!
