I don't know how it is in other parts of the world, but in the States, homeless people use public libraries to sleep, to wash, to use the internet. It's legit and unless they're being disruptive, they are generally welcome. So I feel it should work for your sim too.
You're right - I'm in the Midwest and there's always homeless people in the libraries. Everyone's chill about it because they're not disruptive at all and they have every right to be there as long as they're following the rules.
This seemed like such an interesting challenge so i'm doing it now too and my sim was literally about to die so I just made a "Homeless Shelter" in my game. Club Slate got a redesign into a very bare bones "Park" with showers, beds and fridges. It's cheating of course but I was in the process of figuring out the best way to make money. The flea market is freaking impossible and my sims has yet to fish up a violin.
They do that everywhere. There are laws all over designed specifically to ward off the homeless from loitering and anti-begging/panhandling laws to even laws against helping the homeless by giving away services for free. It's awful really but if the neighborhood is middle or upper class you'll get people even protesting the building of homeless shelters... because of course.
You should do rags to riches black widow and try earn a million simolians by marrying rich sims and then killing them off and you can do nothing else to make money.

This is def one of my favourite Let's Plays of yours, I hope you stream again soon! :D All the violin playing also inspired me to do something that I'm calling "Road to Stardom" - it's a bit like this but the sim can only make money through music-related skills (violin playing, karaoke contest etc). They also have to reach level 10 of the musician career but they can only get a job once they're no longer "homeless" (e.g. manage to build a basic - 4 walls, bed, bathroom and kitchen - house). I've been having fun so far!

I also loved the Sims3 Ambitions, World Adventure and Medieval that I used to play in my iPhone 4, yes way back, way before they introduced those micro transactions. The more I watch your videos, the more I want to keep watching. The ranting about mobile games was fantastic! I'm having some big TIFU feels about buying into the Disney Magic Kingdoms game at the moment - I've spent a couple of hundred dollars on characters that you can only get in limited time events that had already happened by the time I started playing and here's the best thing: You pay $14.99 for six "chests", which are loot boxes, which might give you a character or an attraction from that event. Or they might just give you currency. And there's usually like six characters and four attractions, so on some of them I ended up having to buy three times. And now I've put so much money in it without realising just how much it was, and the game is lagging and crashing and sends notifications when every one of the 90 characters finishes a task, and I am like hate-playing it. And no one in that game "fandom" understands how screwed up the reward chests are. So listening to you rant about mobile games was perfectly on point for how I feel right now!
Loving the new series James! It definitely seems challenging. The whole hobo playing a violin reminded me of a movie I watched a few years ago called The Soloist. Great movie.

Love your reaction to earning 6 simoleans, same reaction I got when my XR2R Sim FINALLY fished up a violin. hehe I decided to try this challenge too and gave my Sim the same traits. I didn't know until a bit of research Sims could earn tips right from the git go. Tip amounts increase 2 per level. So, Level 1 - 2, Level 2 - 4, etc. etc. Until Level 10 - 20 per tip. The best way to get tips is to stand by where Sims teleport in/out in the parks. I had my Sim stand in the sandy area at the front of Magnolia Blossom (Willow Creek? Can't remember the name) park across from the public toilets. He should do the "Play Concerto" option too (he'll play until you make him stop) because when playing songs there is a lull between songs and he might lose his audience. He nabbed food others made now and then, but mostly survives on harvested fruit, for now... Just last night he finally earned enough to buy a retail lot, get a cash register, desk and one wall for his mounted fish to sell, plus he has a few crystals, one fossil and a metal. Other than that, he only has a postcard, upgrade parts (you can sell those) and a rabbit statue he got from rummaging in trash cans. I'll be opening Ben Bummer's store, "Bummer Bargains" tonight for the first time. Excited! Good Luck James, can't wait to see more of this series!

Magnolia Blossom Park was built before the Move Objects Cheat. That is why the mirror and the sink don't line up. The sink would intersect with the doorway. Hope this helps. :)

When you finally start building your home you should keep it extreme by only getting appliances after you have walls and not before like you did in wags to riches.
You can go to a library, which is a public space and use the computers and read there. I literally burst out laughing when Harvey made $6 simoleons and James was so excited. Wow! 2 chapters in and he finally made some simoleons! Woot!
I'm like you about mobile games. The only ones I play are Pokemon Go and Rollercoaster Tycoon classic because there are no wait times on them. The Rollercoaster Tycoon does cost, but it's not too bad (6USD). As far as I can tell it is all the game I remember from the original Xbox days.
The only issue I have with the console version of Sims 4 is when the camera eases in and out of movement. So when you stop, it still moves and if you're trying to click on something, the cursor moves away. Absolutely hate that. But loving these videos. Keen to see more of this!
@The Sim Supply, You know you don't have to wait until the flea market comes around, there is a table you can use near the Art Center in San Myshuno between the two kiosks. You can also busk for tips at the busking platforms in San Myshuno, like the one that violin player was using in Episode 1.
When it comes to food, recently while I was playing my Not So Berry challenge family and they live in Newcrest, and I don't know if this a bug or not but in the playground behind their house one day all the picnic tables were absolutely FULL of food. I was like, "wtf, are they having a massive cookout without me?" If only James could have as generous neighbors in this series lol.
Santa Challenge: Build a toy retail store. Minimum 100k Have a house hold of 8 sims (Santa and his elves) and you gotta wood work and sell your way to buying that retail store. BAM like that's minimum 2 videos. Pure holiday content. So ad friendly. You could bang this challenge out in a day.

I know you were talking about phone games and I really recommend thimbleweed park, it’s a one off payment and it’s got nothing to do with micro transactions or timing or anything. It’s got an amazing art style and is also very funny.

I work at McDonald’s, and if a homeless persons n used our bathrooms for example we wouldn’t turn them away either.
