Fantastic album. I don't comment on music or bands I don't like. If I don't like the band, I don't watch don't listen. This album is even better than repentless. Very good review
I really enjoy this KK release. As an OG fan since the early 80’s, I appreciate the musical elements utilized for this recording, most especially obtaining a real OG singer to come in and make this special.
Cool review Brendan. I am enjoying this album very much. I wouldnt say it 's blowing me away, but it is very good for the thrash album that it is. While Mark Oseguedas vocals are really good, i just hope it doesnt mean the the end of Death Angel, especially since he wants to do another KK album so soon.
I got mine from the record store but I haven't listened to it yet .thanks for your info and history of the band my first slayer cassette was reign in blood really got me into the band when I was 15 years old
Brandon just got my copy today it is a fantastic album!!! Also I recieved my copy of Babylon A.D. new album too. They both rock!!!!🤟🤟🤟 Keep up the great work with your reviews!!!!
Sounds like the last few Slayer albums and with Mark on vocals it basically sounds like a Death Angel album since all these modern metal albums all sound the same now. Kerry isn’t reinventing the wheel here, it’s what I thought the album would sound like, and that’s okay.
Thanks for the show and tell. It is interesting that they (Paul and Kerry) did not release this as another Slayer album, with a new vocalist, bassist and guitarist. As you know there are many bands that have kept their names in spite of personnel changes...maybe for legal/business reasons etc. ?? Either way, it is great to hear "them" carrying-on. Funny that there are no photos...sadly we are all getting older and less attractive...but that's O.K., ...for me, it is all about the music \m/.
Only Kerry King & Tom Araya have rights to the name. Since Tom would not be part of it, Kerry can’t use the name. Kerry said the reason he didn’t use Gary Holt on guitar is that then the music would get too many comparisons to Slayer. He wanted to do something with new guys that separated it from Slayer.
It’s a fantastic album. My only complaint is that the drums appear to be quantised (but interestingly not the cymbals) and to my knowledge this could be the first time Kerry has played to drumming that’s been “fixed”. This explains why Boatsph’s fast pedalling is uncharacteristically in time on this record. However, it’s still a great album and hats off to Kerry for these great riffs. The vocal delivery is also superb!
Thanks for this. Really comprehensive. How about a Slayer album rating?...and if you don't mind another question, what is the heaviest band you like? We already know death metal is off your table...great job, as always.
I like this album. I pretty much got what I expected from Kerry as I didn’t expect him to write some sort of concept album like The Elder by KISS. What stood out to me the most were actually the drums and vocals. The riffs are great, Kerry always delivers. Demmel has some awesome solos as well. But Mark’s vocals and Bostaph’s drumming take this record to the next level in my opinion. I’m a big fan of the last Slayer record and like it better than the new one from Kerry. But I’m not disappointed or complaining either.
Kerry said the reason it's not a band name is because they had about 40 band name ideas but every time they checked they kept running into copy right issues. He said they had festival dates booked with still no name, and the dates kept getting closer and the promoters needed something so they just went with Kerry King. I believe him, because all the cool band names have been used, band names have gotten ridiculous now.
I've seen a few other reviews that complain that it sounds like Slayer "lite".....Well, yeah I kind of expect that a little bit and I like it! The band he put together is great and love Mark's vocals, Phil's playing, and that rhythm section of Paul and Kyle are fantastic! It's a good heavy album and sounds exactly like I expected it to sound. Solid 3.5/5 for me.
When Idle hands got released, I felt like "ok.. it all sounds like slayer.. what a missed opportunity to experiment with another color".. But then.. after listening to the entire album, I felt so good.. so good !! it was like.. yeah.. we needed to listen to new slayer or at least kerry king's pissed off guitar sound.
I streamed it. I'll have to get it on my next day off. From first listen i thought it was Slayer up until "Crusifixation". And it was good song writting, then after that it changed direction quickly and sounded almost hardcore punk. The singer does he's best to sound like Tom throughout. As the album progresses the songs get weaker and more predictable to the point of the "Everything i hate about you" song "Toxic" is my favourite towards the end. But overall its the first 6 songs for me
Theres always gonna be detractors to anything King does besides Slayer. Personally the album scratches my Slayer itch and thats good enough for me. As for the name he should have called it KKs Slayer lol.
I've only heard 4 or 5 songs off the new record but, I really like everything I've heard so far. Repentless was a good album but, not a great one. Even if the rest of the songs on "From Hell I Rise" are mediocre, I still think it's a better record than "Repentless" just based off the songs I've heard so far.... The band should be called "King Slayer."
Kerry did write all of the songs so in that case it is all his credit. But this sounds like more than just a solo album and therefore it should be under a band name. I’m quite sure he decided to do it under his name so he’d never have to deal with the band folding before he’s ready like Slayer did.
I'm really enjoying this album. Fast, heavy, pissed off metal/thrash. Mark sounds more pissed off here than on Death Angel albums. The only track I don't like is "Two Fists". That's too punk sounding for me. Everything else is great.
For me, I find it to be a bit bland and predictable. He’s never been the greatest songwriter. Kudos to Mark Osegueda though. Great performance on vocals
Fantastic album. I don't comment on music or bands I don't like. If I don't like the band, I don't watch don't listen. This album is even better than repentless. Very good review
I'm a big time Slayer fan and I'll be getting this album!
Great review, Brendon!
I have kerry king new album 2024.
Mark has always been one of the best vocals in metal..
I really enjoy this KK release. As an OG fan since the early 80’s, I appreciate the musical elements utilized for this recording, most especially obtaining a real OG singer to come in and make this special.

I'm really surprised with this album. I thought this would probably be a bad idea for him to go solo, but I was proven wrong. A fine effort by KFK.
Excellent review on amazing rock / metal cds and vinyl albums 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻🇬🇧
Thx for review. I’ll grab it today.
Enjoy! 👍
I got mine from the record store but I haven't listened to it yet .thanks for your info and history of the band my first slayer cassette was reign in blood really got me into the band when I was 15 years old
Nice slayer shirt 👕
Appreciate the review! I'm totally gonna check this one out
Mine is on the way. Like what I've heard so far
Brandon just got my copy today it is a fantastic album!!! Also I recieved my copy of Babylon A.D. new album too. They both rock!!!!🤟🤟🤟 Keep up the great work with your reviews!!!!

I really dig this album 👹
Great review sir 🤘🏻

fair enough, thanks for the reply@@BrendonSnyder
Wicked album 🤘
great cd. Crucifixation is my fave so far

so awesome to have kerry back hes a beast and this could b sold as slayers next album. his style on this release is only matched to slayer
Thanks for this. Really comprehensive. How about a Slayer album rating?...and if you don't mind another question, what is the heaviest band you like? We already know death metal is off your table...great job, as always.
Great review he isn’t trying to invent the wheel but classic old school thrash
Hey Brandon, I’m glad you enjoyed it but only a couple of songs were enjoyable to me. I expected a lot more and I enjoyed the repentless album.
The WHOLE ALBUM top to bottom is STOCK! But yes I agree with the other comments, Mark did an excellent job, you my friend drank the kool-aid!

Bought this yesterday 🤘

I’ve got not issue with it sounding like Slayer. It should.

This really is a great album!
Супер альбом! Не думал,что вы слушаете такую музыку,вы же любитель глэм рока.😊

I noticed the punk thrash vibes too , very interesting…
I agree , I thought it was great Brendon .
It’s a great record
Is it better than Diaboulus in Musica?
@@luiscardenas930you know DiM was a Jeff hanneman record right?
Better than I was expecting but the generic vocals negatively impact it.
Theres always gonna be detractors to anything King does besides Slayer. Personally the album scratches my Slayer itch and thats good enough for me. As for the name he should have called it KKs Slayer lol.
Tom made a great decision, sounds like AI Slayer
I've only heard 4 or 5 songs off the new record but, I really like everything I've heard so far. Repentless was a good album but, not a great one. Band name should've been Kingslayer!!
It’s awesome, right!
👍
Middle of the road
He really should've given the "band" another name. This ain't no solo project as i see it. He shouldn't take all the credits
Kerry did write all of the songs so in that case it is all his credit. But this sounds like more than just a solo album and therefore it should be under a band name. I’m quite sure he decided to do it under his name so he’d never have to deal with the band folding before he’s ready like Slayer did.
perhaps my favorite album of the year so far!!
I'm really enjoying this album. Fast, heavy, pissed off metal/thrash. Mark sounds more pissed off here than on Death Angel albums.
The only track I don't like is "Two Fists". That's too punk sounding for me. Everything else is great.
Should of named the band king slayer lol 😆
I just wish the lyrics were more "fantasy" than "opinion"... so i guess this record is more "hardcore" than "metal"
Metal isn’t defined by “fantasy” lyrics. It’s not one of its defining traits. Metal lyrics include all sorts of subject matter.
I think it’s ok, nothing really memorable
Sounds like any one of slayer’s modern / samey average albums, but less good .
The big four…and none of them are better than Kreator?
I won't buy it. Sounds like Sam Kinison yelling lol
I agree with you on how it should be called a band name. Thanks for the video!
Band name should be . . . Residue.
Not a fan?
For me, I find it to be a bit bland and predictable. He’s never been the greatest songwriter. Kudos to Mark Osegueda though. Great performance on vocals
I agree, it's a good ensemble with a notoriously "mid" song writer, its a competent line up but yawn inducingly predictable & boring.
@@kennethjames8314then why even comment? If you don’t like slayer, your opinion adds nothing
