Have you seen the tutorial video by IBCrazy showing how to build a long range dipole whip antenna? He designed them for the TBS Crossfire receiver. I will be installing 2 of them tomorrow, on my current build that has the TBS Crossfire Diversity Nano. I like the way the Atomic Antenna looks on the Hexplorer, but I think I might install 2 of the IBCrazy dipole whips on mine. Thanks again for your beautiful and informational videos, Sincerely, Conrad
@@gargolaconrad3188 Hi Conrad, nope - havent seen that one - but I'm sure it's great if it is from Alex! TBS diversity is a good idea (but maybe overkill). Since I changed to V3 board and dynamic power up to 1watt on CF it's so stable - never have issues. Only if you wanna go more than 10km (which is hard with a small copter) the cf link needs to be that good I think. But it's a good and reliable option. The Hex is a very nice copter. Love how stable it is for the small weight an size! The only downside is the massive view of props and motors. After this I got the 5" low weight Chimera5 - which has about the same flight charakteristics. 16$ is really great- send me a note when you have finished your video! greets, Mario
Hello again, I love watching your videos, and was happy to see that you did a review on the Flywoo Hexplorer. I received my frame a couple days ago. Race Day Quads in the U.S., had a 60% off sale on their clearance items, and I purchased the Flywoo Hexplorer for right around $16.00 U.S.. It came with so much extra stuff too. I'm planning on using some powerful light weight motors, that are very efficient on Li-Ion batteries, plus electronic components that are completely different than the suggested components. I don't want to spoil the secret, because I will be filming the build and uploading it to TH-cam. Thanks again for your beautiful videos.
Thanks Nate, nice to read such comments. Making reviews has gotten harder tho. It's quite stressy and you're supposed to make them videos asap - seldom enough time to like fly a copter for a week or two before you have to make the vid. So I skip most reviews. I only choose stuff that i'm interested in (like a desktop LED lamp will be one of my next reviews ;) Also I will do some latency measurement (for and with Bardwell btw). Greets, Mario
Seems nice and quiet. Some small quads (especially Cinewhoops) are so noisy that it's hard to fly them without attracting a lot of attention. Thanks for the Vid Mario
Yep, I love the 4" as-light-as-possible copters - they are so silent. Even tho the cinewhoops are safe by design - they sound way angrier, more intimitating... Sure - with modern LiIon packs you can achieve very good flighttimes - but even with those smaller Lipos, and some otherwise pretty useless older 4S racing packs - you can have a lot of nice cruise-time. greets and thanks for stopping by here, Mario
it's not my build tho ;) too lazy (or busy) for builds lately... only thing I built here was the CF RX. very silent if you use small batteries (like the 100gr 850mah) - and still giving me 10mins this way - amazing!
Danke, hover kommentiert, dh wieder voll im fpv Fieber, und eigentlich hat dir der Dji Fpv dabei geholfen, wenn auch nicht direkt ;) Der hexplorer wird versuchen dem chimera 7 nachzukommen ;)
Mine flew well, but I sold it after a few flights as I couldn't stand the motors in view. It was difficult turning in tight spaces as you couldn't see what you were turning into.
I have the analog Hex, and the Props are REALLY in view.. I made the mistake of colored props in front first time flying, not even thinking about where the camera was.... not sure if it's the right Vista ride.. because of the view. without action cam anyway. decent flier and can stay up there for a long time with the Lith Ion pack, just seems to be very loose to me, slides around a lot... I use a little 525 4S pack for quick rips. that puts it at 249g... (i think...) it's close. Personally, with my ev800d goggles, 600m and it starts getting flaky. can certainly push further, but breaks up enough for me to not enjoy it,. great presentation of info, thank you.
Do you have stock antennas on your goggles? Maybe patches would help you with more range. Or 2 3turn helicals... If we never use and Actiongame it might be worth thinking about moving the fpv cam one story up...
@@Rcschim I have True RC patches and although.. thinking back a branch yanked the antenna early in it's life. and I replaced the antenna, but wonder it the VTX antenna connection is solid...
i like this little hex, but for the money i'd like a better gps, like the matek one pawel mentioned, actually now i've seen some of the functions on the dji (why didn't they send you one?) i'm really jealous of the dji, the big 'H' and aircraft warning and 10 minute flight, man i could really use those in the mountains, its shocking how quickly my take off point vanishes in the mountains. i hope the air unit 2 appears with all this ability. and dji? what you thinkin, not sending rcschim the new fpv quad???
maybe I could have mailed many different contacts and tried harder to get something. but they have gotten so professional in their PR efforts - they know exactly who should get the drone to have a good placement, many views (that's maybe something where my channel isnt appealing for those compaines). I'm kinda wondering how Kabab, being quite objective and showing a lot of downsides still gets things from them. maybe he knows the right ppl in the industry :) The hex is sweet, as you say. GPS is fine. first GPS aquisition took a few minutes - not so nice, but then you dont have to care anymore. the missing amp meter is one of the bigger downsides here. But the additional motors and props, while weight is still minimal - this is a damn good formula. Will try to take it out really far to see how well it works. Don't know now, which HD cam I'll use on this - prolly just the DJI cam itself, instaSMO doesnt work half of the time - and it's a huge airbreak :) today I even held the runcam5 in my hands (it's 55gr runcam vs. 43gr instaSMO)... greets, Mario
Don't think so. Honestly - I remove propguards on most of those cinequads I've tested. If you crash, you will maybe break a prop but not much else... The hex is quite small and I dont think guards would fit there...
Wot flight time you get switch GoPro please I'm on twoinds got my jumper lite express LRS Module and reaciever can't decide what LR drone to.get what long range long flight time carry camera HELP ME PLEASE
If you want long flighttime with full size gopro you need something like a chimera 7, this thing is really good, but also large and expensive, needs bigger batteries...
yes, for sure more stable than a 4inch quad (like chimera4) lately I've been flying the Chimera5 more. It's not a normal 5" drone (but really lightweight and efficient). check out the review. will try some proper dives in the mountains today - so maybe you'll see a vid soon :)
Hi, Dave_C (who designed some of these nice micro LR copters) has a good explanation. It has to do with "disc load" and how this hex with 4" props has about the same disc load as our typical 5" quads. This thing here is not as efficient as the little 4" quad (the LR explorer) - but it's way better than a normal 5" 4S drone (which gave me ~7mins of gentle cruising with 1600mah 4S - the Hex gives me easy 10 or more minutes with the same pack).
CHECK your antenna! You might get bad range because of a faulty antenna!
