Please finish this series, I got so excited when I saw that you started playing this because you're my favorite TH-camr and you consistently upload quality content and I knew you would do this game justice. I'd hate to see this series get left behind and unfinished.
So I went total geeky on this, because i love norse mythhology and culture! So I have translated what I could of the runes, that Jack has met on his way: 9:50 the glowing circle says: *Seek - Hears - Truth - In - Mirror - Gods - Betray - Us - Unmask - Fear* - This does not change at any of the other stones. The rune in the middle is "S" and I believe that the rune represents something like: Thunder and Power .. 15:13 the run on the gate was the letter “M”, which also represents things like Union and Self 30:45 The rune on the gate is “H” and “Z” I don’t know what H represents, but Z is usually protection, sanctuary and stuff like that 37:37 The rune is "T" and represents among other things: Warrior and Masculinity 38:45 This time it's the letter "R" and represents Ritual and Journey(Though not completely sure) I could have tried to read the runes on stuff Jack passed on buildings and stuff, but that would have taken waaaay too long :P
btw. runes differ a lot as to which era they are from, which culture, which country etc. It all impacts on what they mean, represent and so on, so this is just my interpretation :) But the most used runes are related to the Scandinavian ones, which are based on three 'Ætt' or 'Aett'. Knowing the Aett of runes is very important in knowing their "magical" meaning and power :)

This is really the kind of game you need to play yourself. I absolutely refused to watch any gameplay of it until I'd played it myself and I have no regrets about doing so. This is truly a game to experience yourself, by playing yourself.

I watched the first 4 minutes of this, and I couldn't get the binaural audio to work properly, so I decided to buy the game. Here I am 12 hours later, completely speechless. This was the best gaming experience I've ever had, hands down.

The sounds and the graphics itself are wonderful and the story is really interesting; So why no second part yet? I think Jack will find himself yelling "Shut the hell up" a lot. Perhaps even start believing the voices at one point. I did. This game really messes with your head a lot. Although I am not sure about the punishment Ninja Theory implemented. It might not be true. I had the game on auto difficulty and died a few times the more I progressed cause the enemies were getting harder and smarter.
Hi stacy. May I ask how long the game was Im intrested in buying. i love the lore and its intresting. i hope its a long game that i can play through more then once with some differences. If their is no other weapon or upgrades in the game. Ill be a little sad. i dont need a different weapon but i like different play styles.
It's around 6-8 hours long. It depends on how you play. If you look through every nook, cranny and crevice, it can take up to 8 hours. If you're just mainly focused on the objective, it takes around 6 hours. I still don't know if this so called 'perma-death' is an actual thing. If it is, you can get some more playtime out of the game since you'll have to start over from the beginning.
I felt very weirded out and creeped by the game and the voices but also because of how to camera pans out it made me feel very claustrophobic especially towards the end

There's one where Thor has to dress up as a woman and marry a giant because Loki gambled his hammer away. The giant said that he would give it back if Freya, the goddess of love, war, and fertility, married him. But she was like fuck that, so Thor had to go, and Loki was pretty much his bridesmaid.

Kodi Jordan Exactly, Norse mythology is very fun to study. Most people just know the Marvel Thor and Loki and Odin. I know a lot more about Greek and Roman mythology more than Norse, but would still say I enjoy Norse more.

Hel/Hela is the daughter of Loki. Loki is actually the uncle of Thor, not his brother, Marvel got that wrong. Surt (or in this case, Surtur) was a huge part of the Thor: Ragnarok comics, as he lead the forces to destroy Asgard and end the world in Marvel's version of Ragnarok, essentially the Norse apocolypse. You can spot Surtur at the very end of the latest Thor trailer as Hulk prepares to smash his face in. Also fun fact Loki once transformed into a female horse, got himself (or I guess herself) laid and gave birth to the flying, six-legged horse Sleipnir that became Odin's steed. God I love Norse mythology.

If anyone is wondering, I think realistically jack played this on his own time off camera, which is very understandable given the unique style of the game. Knowing Jack's appreciation of sound design there's no way he didn't play the game, but perhaps he though the content wouldn't be as entertaining. I hope he does a full playthrough one day

You know, children have have such a huge imagination. Mine never left I guess. In recent years, it's gotten really bad to the point of hospitalization(two years ago), as of this year, no medicine or therapy at all( I've decided to go back). I don't just hear voices, it's mostly visual hallucinations. Spacing out, unable to focus( probably due to a different think idk), loss of personalization. The headaches. The constant confusion. Never knowing who I am, who I really am. Oh and the huge loss of memory. My family isn't exactly mental health aware. I was adopted into this family as well, so I know little of my DNA, except I know where my mental issues come from.

Try having psychosis. This is a reality to some people. The game was actually based on it. The creators talked to professionals on the subject to make it as close to those people's realities as possible.

you can pan audio to the left or right ear in a lot of editing programs - it wouldn't be as convincing as this game but it would still be a really cool effect to use
It's actually pretty straightforward: You make a dummy head out of foam of specific density that mimics that of human bone and flesh, carve out holes for the microphones where the ears would be at the correct angle, stick a pair of highly sensitive measurement microphones in there and press record. It's a load of work to DIY and a bit of math is involved, but I'd imagine some recording studios might already have equipment like that on hand. And yeah, totally, Anti done in binaural would be mind bending. 8)
I think this might have less to do with anxiety and thoughts in your head, and more to do with hearing actual, physical voices that aren't really there. As someone who recently discovered I have forms of psychosis/delusions and possibly schizotypal disorder, I don't personally have audible external voices (yet - I may develop them as the disorder matures), but this game gives a super accurate feel of how it is to not have control over your mind. I think that's pretty cool; there's not a ton of representation for psychotic disorders like schizophrenia, and all the media shows is split personalities and dangerous behavior (neither of which is associated with the schizo spectrum). TL;DR: This game is cool so far! I hope it helps people get a feel for what it's like to have auditory hallucinations and how hard that can be. Keep doing great work, Sean!
I have a family member who suffers schizophrenia, and based off what I know and his recounts, this is quite accurate. And yes, there's not much representation in the media, and what little there is is usually wrong, often mixed for split personality and dangerous bipolar like illnesses. It's nice to see the illness done correctly, or at least more accurately. The way the voices overwhelm and contradict eachother, always questioning your moves, its all point for point schizophrenia
Jack if you could do one of those 360°/VR videos with the same double audio thing as this game, but with Anti, and make it like he's glitching around you, with multiple voices everywhere, that would be ABSOLUTELY EPIC
Holy shit, dude. Definitely looking forward to more of this. I'm glad the binaural audio translated through the recording. It probably wasn't as good as it was in your ears, but it still sent chills down my spine. This game is as beautiful as it is intense. (Norse and Celtic mythology overlaps a lot because Vikings... Interesting stuff when you really get into the history. If you're interested, I definitely recommend checking out History's or BBC's overviews of the Vikings in and around the late 10th/early 11th centuries. I think History did a TV series on it a few years back...? If not, the reading is super-cool!)

I think Jack will find himself yelling "Shut the hell up" a lot. Perhaps even start believing the voices at one point. I did. This game really messes with your head a lot. Although I am not sure about the punishment Ninja Theory implemented. It might not be true. I had the game on auto difficulty and died a few times the more I progressed cause the enemies were getting harder and smarter.
Hi stacy. May I ask how long the game was Im intrested in buying. i love the lore and its intresting. i hope its a long game that i can play through more then once with some differences. If their is no other weapon or upgrades in the game. Ill be a little sad. i dont need a different weapon but i like different play styles.
It's around 6-8 hours long. It depends on how you play. If you look through every nook, cranny and crevice, it can take up to 8 hours. If you're just mainly focused on the objective, it takes around 6 hours. I still don't know if this so called 'perma-death' is an actual thing. If it is, you can get some more playtime out of the game since you'll have to start over from the beginning.

I felt very weirded out and creeped by the game and the voices but also because of how to camera pans out it made me feel very claustrophobic especially towards the end

I love BOTH Norse AND Greek mythology! Greek has more of the typical hero saves the princess and Norse is a little darker, whiiich is a little cooler.
Diamond Ninja1510 well they both have a ruler god who fucks everything, so something's are similar. Norse Mythologie also have some pretty funny stories. There's one where Thor has to dress up as a woman and marry a giant because Loki gambled his hammer away. The giant said that he would give it back if Freya, the goddess of love, war, and fertility, married him. But she was like fuck that, so Thor had to go, and Loki was pretty much his bridesmaid.
these mythologies are analogous in a way... similar stories... Thor and Heracles (Hercules) are said to be analogous (or so I've read)

Kodi Jordan Exactly, Norse mythology is very fun to study. Most people just know the Marvel Thor and Loki and Odin. I know a lot more about Greek and Roman mythology more than Norse, but would still say I enjoy Norse more.

Hel/Hela is the daughter of Loki. Loki is actually the uncle of Thor, not his brother, Marvel got that wrong. Surt (or in this case, Surtur) was a huge part of the Thor: Ragnarok comics, as he lead the forces to destroy Asgard and end the world in Marvel's version of Ragnarok, essentially the Norse apocolypse. You can spot Surtur at the very end of the latest Thor trailer as Hulk prepares to smash his face in.
Also fun fact Loki once transformed into a female horse, got himself (or I guess herself) laid and gave birth to the flying, six-legged horse Sleipnir that became Odin's steed. God I love Norse mythology.

If anyone is wondering, I think realistically jack played this on his own time off camera, which is very understandable given the unique style of the game. Knowing Jack's appreciation of sound design there's no way he didn't play the game, but perhaps he though the content wouldn't be as entertaining. I hope he does a full playthrough one day

I have misophonia, synethsesia, and irregular responsitivity (sometimes I get stuck in a 'petting' loop, or sometimes I don't feel temperature, and my doctors know that I won't always answer if something hurts because sometimes it won't and then it'll make me feel like I'm DYING).

I've always been this way since I was a child, more milder in those times. You know, children have have such a huge imagination. Mine never left I guess. In recent years, it's gotten really bad to the point of hospitalization(two years ago), as of this year, no medicine or therapy at all( I've decided to go back).
I don't just hear voices, it's mostly visual hallucinations. Spacing out, unable to focus( probably due to a different think idk), loss of personalization. The headaches. The constant confusion. Never knowing who I am, who I really am. Oh and the huge loss of memory.
My family isn't exactly mental health aware. I was adopted into this family as well, so I know little of my DNA, except I know where my mental issues come from.
I have something similar, though it's not anything like schizophrenia. Basically, I hear voices that are like characters to me. Sometimes I control them, sometimes I don't.

you can pan audio to the left or right ear in a lot of editing programs - it wouldn't be as convincing as this game but it would still be a really cool effect to use
It's actually pretty straightforward: You make a dummy head out of foam of specific density that mimics that of human bone and flesh, carve out holes for the microphones where the ears would be at the correct angle, stick a pair of highly sensitive measurement microphones in there and press record. It's a load of work to DIY and a bit of math is involved, but I'd imagine some recording studios might already have equipment like that on hand. And yeah, totally, Anti done in binaural would be mind bending. 8)

I think this might have less to do with anxiety and thoughts in your head, and more to do with hearing actual, physical voices that aren't really there. As someone who recently discovered I have forms of psychosis/delusions and possibly schizotypal disorder, I don't personally have audible external voices (yet - I may develop them as the disorder matures), but this game gives a super accurate feel of how it is to not have control over your mind. I think that's pretty cool; there's not a ton of representation for psychotic disorders like schizophrenia, and all the media shows is split personalities and dangerous behavior (neither of which is associated with the schizo spectrum).
TL;DR: This game is cool so far! I hope it helps people get a feel for what it's like to have auditory hallucinations and how hard that can be. Keep doing great work, Sean!
I have a family member who suffers schizophrenia, and based off what I know and his recounts, this is quite accurate. And yes, there's not much representation in the media, and what little there is is usually wrong, often mixed for split personality and dangerous bipolar like illnesses.
It's nice to see the illness done correctly, or at least more accurately. The way the voices overwhelm and contradict eachother, always questioning your moves, its all point for point schizophrenia
Jack if you could do one of those 360°/VR videos with the same double audio thing as this game, but with Anti, and make it like he's glitching around you, with multiple voices everywhere, that would be ABSOLUTELY EPIC

Holy shit, dude. Definitely looking forward to more of this. I'm glad the binaural audio translated through the recording. It probably wasn't as good as it was in your ears, but it still sent chills down my spine. This game is as beautiful as it is intense.
(Norse and Celtic mythology overlaps a lot because Vikings... Interesting stuff when you really get into the history. If you're interested, I definitely recommend checking out History's or BBC's overviews of the Vikings in and around the late 10th/early 11th centuries. I think History did a TV series on it a few years back...? If not, the reading is super-cool!)
