The problem with the mall wasn't the upkeep.. The news won't tell you the truth, but It's the neighborhood that surrounds it. 38th and lafayette rd sadly is nothing but crime and poverty. I grew up going to that mall when it was in its prime! Just down the street was a Best Buy and this amazing Italian restaurant (Vitos) along with a hooters and plenty of other places to shop or eat at, but they are all gone.. Every person I've ever talked to left that mall (actually left the area) due to the crime, not the mall upkeep. I visited the mall or what was left of it a few years ago because I was told they had a flea market and while walking around there was gangs and kids being disrespectful in the food courts (which made me leave once again). I truthfully hope this new owner can breathe some life into this place! I hate to see this mall with so many memories become another empty lot! Thank you Rafael Sanchez for taking on the challenge and nothing quite like hearing someone come up from a dishwasher to a mall and multiple property owner!!
He has already done way more renovations to the mall than the previous owners did over 12 years. That's was the main reason the mall has been failing. There is nothing wrong with the area. The reason the area has gone down hill is because the mall which is historically is anchor was under terrible ownership.
As I viewed pictures, it doesn’t look too bad but I haven’t visited in person what big stores does it have tho dicks macys jcpennys any of that still? Or did some things close

Hoping for success.
