The more I read and hear, the more horrified I am that I was once a devoted JW for many years. Thank goodness I got out many years ago.
The more you read ,the more you are horified ,but can you focus on jw only while we lieave in an imperfect ,you have been in and you know thoroughtly. That their are shunnig and disfellowships to constrains those evil guilts ,so what ? Does that mean you are more secure outside that would surprised me every where parents have to works most time odd hours and children are with.their phones looking pornographie ,in.the eyes of childrens what could youth translate through images my pare nts do that so i can just shouldbe horified or see the why of that. I was an elder for 20 years and on one occasion disfellowshipped one of these creeps who spent 2 years in jail. When he came back to the congregation I told him to get lost. After that we were instructed not even to tell our fellow elders but to report any such crimes directly to the branch legal dept. This resulted in the many cover ups we have seen since. Child abuse was treated as a sin when it fact it was a criminal offence that should have been reported not to the branch but to the police.

What a shame! Now I know where the money of donations for the world wide work is going. 23.000 cases of child abuse in the USA, 1800 child abuse cases in Australia and so on. Now I understand why Stephen Lett says: The money that comes out is more than money that comes in. To pay millions and millions of dollars in compensation. Thank you so much for sharing your stories!

robin kishmiller where about did you go to a Kingdom Hall? I left in 1993 after the ‘incident’ came out! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 always looked for an identity since. I have only realised this because I now have an amazing occupational therapist who has identified that when I was disfellowshiped 6 months after the 3 year incident came to light. I was brought in for being pregnant and disfellowshiped with no family allowed to speak to me or my jw family and my real family had basically thought we were all nut jobs being in the jw so never had a relationship with them. I was truly alone and had picked a mad mad 10 years older to fell ‘safe’ big mistake. The jw have a lot to answer for! 😡😡🤬 anyway rant over sorry 😐 did you the beautiful Scottish scenery? Since the child abuse cases have gone public, the church leaders should share the responsibility for the damages to the victims. If the church leaders insist that the two witnesses rule forbid them to handle those cases, we can consider them abuse the Bible teaching as well.

That was a bit close to home ! I was in both the Melville and Nawton congregations AND South Dunedin. Didn't recognise anybody though. I did recall a child abuse case in the Melville cong. involving a grand daughter. The elders refused to take it to the police and the offender was disfellowshipped. At that point the father went to the police against the advice of the elders as this would 'bring reproach upon Jehovah's name". The elders would never actually approach the police themselves. So any legal action must be taken by a congregation member but they are warned of the potential reproach on the org. Nothing written down, just a quiet word. From time to time we servants might have a meeting on some sensitive subject like this but we were always forbidden to take notes so you'll never find anything in, say, the Shepherding Book. Some did make the odd note however and occasionally this comes to light. BTW, Hi to anyone who knows me. Jennine and I together for 37 years now. Left about 20 years ago. Phew !!
The article and this film was so extremely well done. I thank the reporters and producers who made this. It's so important for these stories to be told because they are not at all uncommon in the JW religion and something needs to be done about it.
I to am a victim. I was told told to keep my mouth shut or they would hurt my father. He was not a JW. I was so scared I never said a word. My father died not knowing that my Mother swept this under the rug with her precious elders.

My heart goes to you. I am not a survivor but did know a girl that was suffering molestation and harassment from her mom's husband. They were both JW's. The girl was not believed when she told an elder, and rather was reprimanded and humiliated for wearing shorts and a tank top one hot summer day and walk to the store. Disgusting people

Why isn’t the child’s mother in this meeting of elders? When my daughter was being interviewed by the police I accompanied her and held her name. Otherwise this is a second form of abuse.

They are rotten to the very core. The only thing it seems good is they are made up of mostly good people, and none of them actually know what happened . All those good people are actually innocent people, knowing nothing, but misled to do terrible things or even crimes. It’s a religion traps people inside and mislead people. I'm an ex Jehovah's Witness and I live down the street from Jehovah's Witnesses worst people in the world to be your neighbors they were robbing the other neighbors as she had them babysit for her and when she went to the police they started harassing her tearing up her car and doing all kinds of things to her so then they decided they were going to start harassing me so they brought dogs down to my house and when my mother and I would get out of the car they set them on my poor old mother German Shepherds and Rottweilers so when I finally had enough they took me before committee meeting cuz I went down to their house and told them to come outside cuz I was going to beat the hell out of them they also let there teenage daughter which about 16 years old have her boyfriend move in with them and then her mother started having an affair with the boyfriend so at this committee meeting when I told that on them I was told that I was crazy by those Brothers so I left and I never went back so someone that new them at the hall told me that she had left her husband and her children and was living in a tent with this man that used to be the boyfriend of her daughter I still never got an apology
As a kid, I never got any sleep on the weekends
Every single Saturday and Sunday, we had to go out preaching, and/or to meetings
We got up at 7 am on Saturday
To knock on doors
But I would have rather slept in
I worked really hard in school every week
But, my mom forced me to get out of my nice bed(at 8 am), and preach from door-to-door
On Sundays, we went to the kingdom hall for the meetings
We would get up by 7 am, to be there by 9 am

Always amazes me that this continues to go on and on. I grew up around these people even went to the same Kingdom Hall. I've had two people in my direct family commit suicide I believe it was because of the pressures that the organisation puts on them and the expectations that they felt they had to live their life by. I'm full of hatred for this organisation that people are lovely that they are blinded by their faith.

40 years ago when I started a bible study with my 28 year old husband and family . I found out he was having sex with a 14 year old elders daughter . We divorced and he never supported my 3 children financially or otherwise . The elders turned a blind eye when they kept seeing each other ....saying ..” they were not spiritual policemen “ . They married when she was old enough and he went on to serve as an elder in a Leeds UK Congregation .........I waited 40 years for “ Jehovah to sort it out “ .

July 1, 1989 policy letter to elders stated that elders should NOT speak with authorities regarding crimes committed by JW members. Even if a court ordered subpoena is issued, elders are NOT to share any information with authorities or turn in judicial committee records over.
March 14, 1997 policy letter to elders states that if the community or Congregation does not know that a brother had molested children in the past, he may be recommended to serve as an elder or ministerial servant again.
So if a molester only confesses to the elders and is able to keep his criminal and perverted behavior unknown and hidden, from the community and the Congregation members, he may be appointed to serve in the Congregation as an elder or ministerial servant.
Victims and their families are discouraged from reporting child abuse by threatening them that they will bring reproach on gods only true organizatiowhich Michael the Archangel chose in 1919.
Victims are also told that they will face discipline if they speak to others about the child abuse if there are no 2 witnesses or a confession. See Watchtower 1997 Aug 15 under subtject "Why report wrongdoing".
Okay and I do not wish to sound that I do not sympathize with those abused. I do, what happens and has happened is a disgrace and perpetrators should face prosecution for their sins or crimes. So I hope those in their power reading this will take heed. Yes its to you the society and your managers as your an organization. It is with this in mind that the whole congregation is an organization and thus should they should act like one. Definition of organization = an organized group of people with a particular purpose, such as a business or government department. So as an organisation, you have funds to better the organization right? I think you have a lot of funds. Okay, so invest as you do with lawyers and get some business strategy. If it were me, I would come clean, make a public declaration as to the faults of the orgaization, offer a public statement to shareholders ie those in the congregation and external stakeholders ie the rest of society. Who to be honest will be shocked but will see you are doing something to rectify the issue. Your next move after admitting you are imperfect as an organization is to better itself or in business terms Kaizen. You train your managers to be more astute in their dealings with people ie get them trained in dealing with trauma and physiological issues, then for little cost look at what you are actually preaching and see if it is okay in today's climate to use statements that were clearly aimed at people thousands of years ago and implement change. After all are you not all things to all men or take this to mind. An APMG change management course for a couple of thousand managers would cost peanuts. For all those who have been affected by or are being affected by abuse please get in touch with your local authorities as people outside do actually care about other people and are not under the spell of the devil.
I like your business-minded approach. What is more, the JW is more than just a regular organisation. They are a mind control imposing religion.
They cannot deal with it because the foundational teachings, including the two witness rule, paves the way for these pedophiles. The fact that members are programmed to ONLY trust the "organisation" is a dead end. A JW was quick to call me "the devil" because I disagreed with their doctrine. The solution is JWs NEED to escape the "organisation"
