St. Petersburg is a big antique destination, and the antique malls are open again! Andrea & Friends is a longtime collector magnet, with a different variety of vintage goods and specialties in jewelry, primitives and other wares not found in most Florida antique centers.
This place is stuffed with cool stuff, so much that a single video can’t do it justice! Tantalizing jewelry greets incoming shoppers, with signed, fun-to-wear vintage costume alongside some rather exquisite gold and silver estate jewelry. My space and others reveal Navajo and Native American jewelry, moccasins and basketry, primitive furniture and a surprising lot more!
Parlor lamps and a pond boat in the front window signal that true antiques await, and we enjoy a good collection of Fairings, an 1864 sampler and Gibson Girl fans and cameos to prove the point. My spot has a more modern mix, among it a Majestic lamp and Russel Wright dinnerware, plus some fun St. Pete memorabilia.
Every booth has specialties, from vintage designer handbags and Roseville Pottery to a real live “man cave” of wood planes, western tack and fishing reels. I also run into Becky Thatcher and Douglas McArthur, while eschewing the interesting (and potentially dangerous) Swamp Root.

I'm not sure how, but people must be driving there, there's been some traffic much to my surprise! I love cameos as well, and the sampler was unusual for being in the era and place it was, and for being by such a young girl!

George, I am sure people would be surprised if they traveled the interior areas of Florida and saw the amount of farmland and wintering thoroughbreds. Arabian horses and many breeds are bred there. This is a killer mall! I see pottery, bookends, Glo-Hill, etc. I can’t stop drooling. Thanks as always.

The Antique Nomad the unemployment numbers in Kentucky are devastating. Bardstown is at 20%. The St. Vincent de Paul thrift store is a ghost town. They moved several workers to the busy food pantry. The extent of the fallout will be uneven throughout the state. Looks like selling antiques & collectibles in KY will go online. I don’t know how flea markets and auctions will be effected. 6 months will provide a better picture. Anyone’s guess. You Tube is a good platform to be involved in.

I am enjoying various Antique market video presentations in You Tube from those of Flea Markets in Italy, France, London, etc. I think among the presentations yours is the best. Mostly they do the walking with some shots of the products but yours is very in depth presentation with very good explanations of the history, significance and even the estimated prices of the items. Your camera man is very good. His hand is not trembling and the shots are clear. Bravo... Well done indeed. Keep it up. I'll be a fan and follower from now.

Interesting turquoise information about the Bisbee mine that I never heard before. Also the cameos were pretty. I noticed some blue cameos and was wondering what material they are made out of. I’ll have to look at them more closely, I know some cameos are cast from lava rather than shell but I didn’t check them out closely
I love that pretty yellow box with the key and the cameo shell next to it. Doll house furniture? That is something that I originally got into to make a connection with my mother and it turns out I really do like the beautiful things I can make/create including the actual house. Always support people who repurpose closed businesses like Designers Consigner. Its cool that you can clearly see the old gas station! In Canada I have been collecting White Rose oil and gas company memorabilia that was 100% Canadian because of their distinctive and unique White Rose that I remember as a child. They were completely absorbed by Shell in mid 1960’s.
I rarely see White Rose items, even in Canada. I like Canadiana!

Maybe shorten your video's, just like 5 or 10 minutes, I have a hard time staying on videos if they go too long, (not talking about yours), but you might notice a viewer difference. Really loved how you covered the costume jewelry, the real jewelry, and that beautiful glass. I have a few cameos like you showed, if you want to think about consignment, I could mail to you. Shawn Blevins have to respectfully disagree, I get frustrated with short videos of say 10/15 minutes and always want a bit more. Nothing wrong with 35/40 minutes.

Horse gal here- that particular saddle has modern plastic stirrups- great for safety, not so great for authenticity :) The second saddle had what are called tapaderos, which are also for safety for young riders so your foot doesn't go through the stirrup... and yes, they can be on parade saddles as well for show. What to look for? First, you have to know if the tree is good or not. A broken tree makes a saddle almost worthless. The tree is the main support and it is made of wood or fiberglass and can be cracked or broke in half- making it very unsafe. If you have a western child's saddle that is a Roy Rodgers, Hopalong Cassidy, or other singing cowboy style saddles, those can be highly collectible. A plane-jane vintage children's saddles like this one sell for about $50... they have to have more studs and styling to get into the $100's. BTW- because I am a teacher- the front part of is called the pommel and the thing in front isn't to hold on to- it was for your rope when you are roping and is called the horn. The part in back where you sit is called the cantle. To measure the size of the saddle, measure from the pomel to the cantle. A child's seat should be 12", a youth seat is 14", and a typical WESTERN saddle is 16" but I have seen them as large as 20" for really large people. Another factor is gullet size 6" to 8" - typically is 6.5"- that is the size across the round front of the saddle under the horn where the horse or poney's shoulders go... if it is VERY narrow 5" to 6" it is a donkey saddle and could be worth for a bit more because they are harder to find. Leather condition is everything- but many people have been known to recondition them and make them new again with new parts but it is hard work and takes solid knowledge of what your doing. The second saddle you showed is a lot more desirable... just be sure it has all of the studs all the way around it.
This is excellent information! I've mainly sold them as decoration, your info is really useful to me and I appreciate it. I've heard a few of these terms but did not know tapaderos at all, and I didn't realize the donkey saddles were narrower in the gullet. I'm also glad to find out that the second saddle was more desirable, I honestly as a novice to the field might have thought the first if it wasn't for the tapaderos. Thank you for your knowledge, I started this channel to help spread love and appreciation for antiques and vintage through education...but I didn't realize how much more I would learn in the process.

Im always astounded at your knowledge of ALL things. I really enjoy watching your videos, they are very educational and I learn a lot with each episode I watch. I just learned (with this video) that you’re a certified appraiser, I should of known with your broad knowledge of everything. Do you happen to have a website that an individual can have an item appraised or just identified? Where my struggle comes in is the identification of an object ie... if it’s not marked, and no luck with google or eBay, I can’t attribute a piece to a manufacturer and I get so frustrated. I love to learn so I enjoy the research, I just sometimes need a nudge in the right direction. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I know I appreciate it as I’m sure many others do as well. 😊 Thank you.

So many wonderful things. I love your videos. I am so so drawn to the samplers, especially made by the little ones. Such dexterity for those little fingers. Over the past weekend, I found a little metal bird sculpture, which I believe is bronze, that looks Egyptian or Native American, possibly Roman. I cannot figure it out. I have spent many hours on it, trying to find comparable pieces. I paid less than a dollar for it. If you have a second, I’d love for you to take a peek. I tagged you on it on my Instagram where I posted several pictures, at Moss Stone Story. I did send pictures to a gentleman in LA who specializes in this sort of thing. My question: I picked up two large stuffed-full bags of vintage & antique jewelry here in CO. I’ve been out of work since March due to the pandemic. Trying to sell some things on eBay to supplement income. Wondering if sellers, like yourself, ever are interested in doing evaluations for someone like me? Paid by the hour?? Is this a thing? I thought I would ask here before I start approaching local thrift store owners here.

I'm glad you found me! Crazy Lamp Lady has a great channel. I do appraise on an hourly basis, but you may want to start by dividing things by signed (maker name on the piece) and unsigned to at least simplify the job.

Excellent video, George. I really enjoy hearing all the information you give us on each item. Since you carry war medals I wonder if you can give me some info about one. Do you know how a WWII Canadian Air force pilot could have a German Iron Cross? I've tried researching this to no avail. It belonged to a WWII RCAF pilot my mom had been engaged to during the war, who was killed, so the armed services sent his belongings to my mom. The Iron Cross was among them. I'd appreciate any information you can give me, I've always wondered how he would have come to have it.
Generally speaking, those items were confiscated by the victors as keepsakes. Iron crosses are typically from the first World War, my guess is it was found in a raid and got to him somehow and was with his effects when he died. His loss is a sad thing, war is truly horrible but the presence of the Iron Cross indicates he had some triumphs as well
@@TheAntiqueNomad Thank you so much for this information. Maybe I was mistaken in calling it an Iron Cross (I'm totally unsophisticated in war medals). It's the standard black one with a silver border you commonly see on German WWII uniforms, & since he was in WWII I assumed it was from that war.
I could have purchased a candle mold at auction, it was really rusted out on the bottom.
