At 61 yrs old I've seen a lot of incredible rock bands in my lifetime, some so iconic that they're music is still quite relevant today, having said that, I have never been as emotionally moved by a band's music before I heard Band Maid, this group of artists have single bandedly helped rescue me from being banished to a music desert 🏜️ that was 30 year's, I believe that 30 40 50 yrs from now people will still see Band Maid as relevant, like we see band's such as the Beatles, or Led Zeppelin etc.. now. That's my experience with this band and I'm sticking to it.

They are an organically formed band, but they had a lot off interference from their original label. These girls have been writing their own material and doing _Band Maid_ things for many years now! They skillfully play an eclectic mix of genres but always with that Hard Rock base. Doesn't matter which one is next....surprise us!
Onset is a good song to appreciate their musicianship. They are HUGE on stage. However, it is very likely that their most outstanding ability is the songwriting. In that field they are unbeatable. It will probably take you a little longer to realize how intricate their music becomesbut it really worths it. Oh, and they are masters in each of the styles of rock music (funk, hard, metal, soft, jazz ...) especially mixing them. Great job!. Thank you.

They definitely have harder, pure metal songs - their heaviest songs tend to be album tracks and not get a MV but you can get them on YT Music, Spotify, etc - or start buying the albums as most Maidiac’s do. But as others say, they play a width genre of rock music. Some will say watch live but I enjoy MV, then seeing the song live - maybe switch it up but I’d definitely recommend not ignoring the music videos, they are excellent. Miku was originally supposed to sing lead but she felt they needed a more powerful singer, so they got Saiki. She then basically volunteered to learn guitar.

When Miku agreed to hold the guitar for looks, Akane (The drummer) insisted Miku learn to play it. From interviews I have read, Miku didn't like playing the guitar at first but worked at it. Then Miku acquired her first Zemaitis guitar and realized the guitar deserved to be played by some one who could really play it, so she got serious about learning and practicing. Now Miku can't imagine going a day with playing guitar.
I didn't see it mentioned below, but, Band-Maid pans the guitars as you see them on stage. So Kanami is to the right, and Miku is to the left. 👍 There is so much ear candy with these ladies, it's unreal. A lot of people just focus in on Kanami and her solos or Akane, and they miss MISA doing a bass solo *during* Kanami's solo or Miku doing Miku things. 1 listen is not enough, and 1 million is is a great start. 🤪
Hard rock core with layers of everything else. I think because Miku was working with Konami, MIsa, Akane, her playing could only get good fast! She said Konami (lead) taught her and is still learning. She's also a great singer who compliments Saiki's singing really well.
hmm ... I don't remember Miku's short solo being that low in the mix. Anyway, as you've noticed this was an instrumental .. so now you only need to check out some clips of the Live At Line Cube Shibuya show, to see how well Saiki controls the crowd (and how awesome her voice is now). So yeah... the usual suspects : Domination, Play (has a nice extended intro, in which you can actually see and hear how far Miku, the rhythm G./2nd Vocals has come in her Guitar Learning Journey), Choose Me (was featured prominently in Netflix's movie KATE), Freedom (includes a short but sweet drum solo) ... They are great in studio recordings/MVs, but they just light up live, especially if they have a crowd to feed from.
Ah! The song that made me become a fan - Onset! This made me change my perspective of them from "they're good and their songs are sonically pleasing" to "everyone of them is a master (despite them claiming to be maids....) and they deserve my utmost respect!".
Time is coming for Band Maid to bring out new material. If you do like the two songs you have reviewed, you may want to quicken the reactions of BM's earlier songs, if you have the time.
Great and thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I am a big BABYMETAL fan and a newbie fan of Band-Maid. I found a good article about Kanami and Miku in a Japanese magazine "Headbang" vol. 28 issued in Jan. this year, 3 years after this video filmed in 2018. Kanami answered in an interview and spoke highly of Miku's current skill as (1) faster palm mute than Kanami's (2) powerful strumming (3) ability to play with complicated tension chords. Miku has been an excellent singer and now she is also a skilled instrumentalist. I admire her talent, efforts and cutesy. (I love Su & Moa most though 😄 )

While Babymetal will always be first, Band-Maid is like 1st place and a half with Atarashii Gakko pulling a close 2nd spot. It is crazy how much and how fast Miku has progressed but, it is to be expected considering her drive and a Sensei like Kanamincho!

That was the instrumental break for the singer to rest her voice. You'll see more of the drummer in Freedom (Live). And a bit more of the rhythm (and always the lead) in Domination (Live).
Just from their TH-cam sight you could do a song a week for about 18 months or more. The song Manners has a good video but the official live version has a bass solo in the intro
Always really enjoy seeing any reactor take on Band Maid " Onset". Songs like this, one of their instrumentals, really make me think about what this band is going to be capable of when they do another decade together, which I truly believe they all will, and reach their mid to late 30's and really become if anything possibly more creative? MIKU may not have known how to play the guitar at the beginning - What she did know was how to build an absolutely fantastic rock band from scratch. She knew what she wanted and went for it. She had to convince the record company - the band members (SAIKI was tricked into joining) - and the audience and she did it. THRILL was supposed to be an acoustic song. She had KANAMI rock it up. MIKU is the main cheerleader for the band (the others do participate but not to the level that MIKU does) and writes the lyrics to the music (fantastically written) by KANAMI and the rest of the band. MIKU as a manager delegates to the proper members the parts that they are best at. Then add into this the fact that MIKU was aware that her voice was not "acceptable" as the lead singer and went after a lead singer. Then decided that she should learn the guitar as well. KANAMI, as her instructor, has stated that MIKU is coming along nicely as she must also focus on singing while playing. MIKU knows what she is doing. Way back in the early years of BAND MAID when they were struggling to be recognized MIKU knew. She is quoted at one concert saying "please remember just the name". In the video of AFTER LIFE at the very beginning of it you see MIKU's picture on the wall of the maid cafe. This is Miku's page from when she worked at the cafe www.cafe-athome.com/maid-blog/maid/himawari And by the cafe, I mean that very cafe. All of the members of the band are great no question. Just remember that it was MIKU's vision from the start. Thank you MIKU for persevering! Thank you BAND MAID for being an inspiration to so many of us.
I'll just make one minor correction: Saiki wasn't tricked into joining the group (she did go through a proper audition/application process, after all); she was, however, tricked into wearing the maid outfit (as she has said, she wouldn't have joined if she knew beforehand...although this might just be a tongue-in-cheek answer by her😁), as she was just told by Miku that they would be wearing pretty outfits.
If you like instrumentals, give asterism a listen, a 3 piece instrumental from Japan. I would recommend Dawn (th-cam.com/video/zTMwICTO5Bg/w-d-xo.html), although just about anything by them would work. Super talented.

miku, ryhthm guitar, has come along way since then. a couple of faster songs to listen to are, different, and then black hole live. blackhole is paired with manners live. two totally different styles but i think you'll like them.

hmm ... I don't remember Miku's short solo being that low in the mix. Anyway, as you've noticed this was an instrumental .. so now you only need to check out some clips of the Live At Line Cube Shibuya show, to see how well Saiki controls the crowd (and how awesome her voice is now). So yeah... the usual suspects : Domination, Play (has a nice extended intro, in which you can actually see and hear how far Miku, the rhythm G./2nd Vocals has come in her Guitar Learning Journey), Choose Me (was featured prominently in Netflix's movie KATE), Freedom (includes a short but sweet drum solo) ... They are great in studio recordings/MVs, but they just light up live, especially if they have a crowd to feed from.

This made me change my perspective of them from "they're good and their songs are sonically pleasing" to "everyone of them is a master (despite them claiming to be maids....) and they deserve my utmost respect!".

Great and thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I am a big BABYMETAL fan and a newbie fan of Band-Maid. I found a good article about Kanami and Miku in a Japanese magazine "Headbang" vol. 28 issued in Jan. this year, 3 years after this video filmed in 2018. Kanami answered in an interview and spoke highly of Miku's current skill as (1) faster palm mute than Kanami's (2) powerful strumming (3) ability to play with complicated tension chords. Miku has been an excellent singer and now she is also a skilled instrumentalist. I admire her talent, efforts and cutesy. (I love Su & Moa most though 😄 )

While Babymetal will always be first, Band-Maid is like 1st place and a half with Atarashii Gakko pulling a close 2nd spot. It is crazy how much and how fast Miku has progressed but, it is to be expected considering her drive and a Sensei like Kanamincho!

That was the instrumental break for the singer to rest her voice. You'll see more of the drummer in Freedom (Live). And a bit more of the rhythm (and always the lead) in Domination (Live).
Just from their TH-cam sight you could do a song a week for about 18 months or more. The song Manners has a good video but the official live version has a bass solo in the intro
Always really enjoy seeing any reactor take on Band Maid " Onset". Songs like this, one of their instrumentals, really make me think about what this band is going to be capable of when they do another decade together, which I truly believe they all will, and reach their mid to late 30's and really become if anything possibly more creative? I am sure at least one of my fellow Maidiacs understands where I am going with that, so nuff said. Shit, I probably know at least 15 different fans of the Maids who are in this comment section with me, and I bet all of them have nothing but kind, and appreciative things to say about this fine gentleman's reaction, it's good to be a member of the Band Maid fandom folks. MIKU may not have known how to play the guitar at the beginning - What she did know was how to build an absolutely fantastic rock band from scratch. She knew what she wanted and went for it. She had to convince the record company - the band members (SAIKI was tricked into joining) - and the audience and she did it. THRILL was supposed to be an acoustic song. She had KANAMI rock it up.
MIKU is the main cheerleader for the band (the others do participate but not to the level that MIKU does) and writes the lyrics to the music (fantastically written) by KANAMI and the rest of the band. MIKU as a manager delegates to the proper members the parts that they are best at. Then add into this the fact that MIKU was aware that her voice was not "acceptable" as the lead singer and went after a lead singer. Then decided that she should learn the guitar as well. KANAMI, as her instructor, has stated that MIKU is coming along nicely as she must also focus on singing while playing.
MIKU knows what she is doing. Way back in the early years of BAND MAID when they were struggling to be recognized MIKU knew. She is quoted at one concert saying "please remember just the name". In the video of AFTER LIFE at the very beginning of it you see MIKU's picture on the wall of the maid cafe. This is Miku's page from when she worked at the cafe www.cafe-athome.com/maid-blog/maid/himawari And by the cafe, I mean that very cafe.
All of the members of the band are great no question. Just remember that it was MIKU's vision from the start. Thank you MIKU for persevering! Thank you BAND MAID for being an inspiration to so many of us.
I'll just make one minor correction: Saiki wasn't tricked into joining the group (she did go through a proper audition/application process, after all); she was, however, tricked into wearing the maid outfit (as she has said, she wouldn't have joined if she knew beforehand...although this might just be a tongue-in-cheek answer by her😁), as she was just told by Miku that they would be wearing pretty outfits.

If you like instrumentals, give asterism a listen, a 3 piece instrumental from Japan. I would recommend Dawn (th-cam.com/video/zTMwICTO5Bg/w-d-xo.html), although just about anything by them would work. Super talented.

You can really hear Miku (rhythm guitar) coming over the top when Kanami is tapping. She has become an exceptional player in a short amount of time.

miku, ryhthm guitar, has come along way since then. a couple of faster songs to listen to are, different, and then black hole live. blackhole is paired with manners live. two totally different styles but i think you'll like them.
These ladies are all accomplished musicians and whoever came up with that comment might have had an ax to grind.
The album is new beginnings the song thrill just to set you straight also they have grown way more now
