He's said he has synesthesia, that he sees sounds in color. Which makes sense as to why someone could layer opera, metal, baroque, blast-beats, accordions, chickens, banjos, etc., and still somehow make it so cohesive. You need "Cheval" in your life. No music's made me laugh the same way I did discovering Mr. Bungle as a kid, like Igorrr. Every time I hear "Tendon", I giggle uncontrollably. Sonic madness that grows on you. Even Clown Core seems tame compared to Igorrr.

Igorrr is amazing, but there's no way you can get even 20 percent of what they are like from a single song. They are a band, albeit there is a clear division of labor. There is only one composer/multi-instrumentalist, the rest are "just" top tier musicians.

OMG you discovered Igorrr! You cannot be farther than mainstream music. Most iconic songs: ieuD, Cheval, Parpaing (featuring George Fisher from Cannibal Corpse), Downgrade Desert and a fabulous live of the song "Tout Petit Moineau" (at Dour Festival 2014).
    This is a rabbit hole.

I love seeing people react to Igorrr for the first time :D the sheer awe in their faces when they notice the mad genius in their amazing sounds. They have lots of really creative and very different tracks. If you enjoy the more orchestral / acoustic side their other band (with many of the people you've seen here) Corpo Mente might interest you as well.
Laure Le Prunenec is an incredible vocalist with baroque opera training and she's got a crazy range of styles and so much control over her voice. Sadly she and Igorrr parted ways over creative differences last year.

Fan of Igorrr here, I discover them thru the collab with Rubby my dear and the EP maigre in 2014 i Believe....completly different mood, very breakcore feel and since then never been disapointed by what igorrr bring to the table, it's always different, always new influences and genres coliding into that solid Igorrr base sound.

Bravo as always Dean! Glad you enjoyed this one, and look forward to more possible Igorrr reacts in the future. This song had been stuck in my head for what felt like months and I thought you might like it. A huge over-simplification and elevator pitch of Igorrr: on many of their tracks, they kind of combine metal, electronic/drum n bass, and opera. I'm excited, I'm going to see them live in San Francisco in March, It will be my first time seeing them. As far as I know they have new vocalists in the last year or so.

The whole album is amazing, and as a French fan of Igorrr, I just want to review what it's said at the beginning : Igorrr was a project at the begining done by a single man, but now it's a band, and the last album for instance (Spirituality and Distortion) is performed by the band. They are all incredible musicians and in live, it's also a kiss ass moment :)

If you want something really shooting (but always with nightmarish undertones...) try "Problème d'émotion"... you'll dream with Dexter that night, granted :)
If you want heavy techno, "Very Noise"
If you want balkanic folklore deathmetal, try "Cheval"
If you want dub + opera + grindcore, try "Opus Brain"
If you want WTF, try "ieuD" or "kung-fu chèvre"
If you want goosebumps, try "Ort" or "Dorma" from Corpo-Mente, another of the side proyects of Igorrr, same singer

Igorrr has two videos of songs with a chicken (R.I.P. Patrick) playing a little piano.
Jump down the rabbit hole, there are numerous related bands if you look up who the members are and what other bands they were in or other bands igorrr has collaborated with.

    • @TomMusick
      @TomMusick ปีที่แล้ว +1

There's a discography of Gautier Serre (the brain behind igorrr) video on TH-cam that's like 8+ hours long with every album release in chronological order, if you find the timestamp comment it's easier to navigate & know the song titles.
Also keep in mind that most of the time the male & female vocalists aren't using a standard language, they both created their own languages.
It's all pretty amazing, fascinating stuff...

Hi. I have to ask - if you're Canadian and enjoy prog - do you know Nomeansno? If no, you've gotta hear them. From Victoria. Described as prog-punk or jazz-punk or a "poor man's Rush". If yes - what do you think would be the best Nomeansno song for others (with composing backgrounds) to react to? It's Catching Up? The River? Thanks!
