I had already heard this program on radio classics on satellite radio channel 148. Host Greg Bell does a great job telling the story of of each show. This narrator is William Conrad

...Not the Whole town... I've heard another version of this on an OTR show, - Possibly even suspense with an alternate ending OR perhaps THIS is the alternate...I won't want to spoil it for anyone - I do believe however that Agnes Moorehead plays the role of Lavinia in that version, and it is worth a listen. IMO She carries the role much better, in portraying the indominatable and spirited "Lavinia".
BTW - The version I'm thinking of COULD even have been featured on the radio anthology "Bradbury 13" It is titled "The Ravine"- Also hosted by Paul Frees, an Excellent Series, and well worth checking out...
