Nice one! I have an '85 step thru and I like it very much. Slightly above average quality for the time. By 85 they were being made in Taiwan but an 81 *might* be made by Daimler-Puch in Austria.
I had one years ago trying to ride hilly Kansas City, MO. It was a heavy dog. Free is good. Have fun! 😃

Imho the front fender is mounted the wrong way. With some love, cleaning, lubing and adjusting this bike can go some more miles with ease

my parents had 2 of these one mens and one lady \step through model. love to ride them around when i was a teen.
That's awesome. I definitely enjoy this one as long as I stay on good pavement.
I have the exact bike in red but different handlebars...yours are more comfortable. The bike is a real cruiser

I would say you could easily maintain 20 to 25 in high gear
