Hi Keith, I have watched a few of your video's So keep up the good work, I remembered this one from when I first got my ML280 and it helped me fast track the adjustment, I meant to login and pass on a piece of advice that you could add, You could add the direction to lever the cog, and it is a good idea to make sure the Caliper pads are not rubbing on the disk causing the effect of the brake being on slightly. Good luck in the future.
Today I watch you r Video 📹 in Germany 🇩🇪 and I repair the brakes At Mercedes Model W208 Year 2001 respeckt for the video and thanks Hello from Croatia 🇭🇷 Germany 🇩🇪 and Europa❤
Good job, concise, to the point with out a lot of jibberish in between steps. I just received a 2000 ML 320 w163 and this is an easy fix. There is a "Trick" to everythig that makes for ease of completing a task. I hope you have a video of the location of A/C Transducer. I have 177k on the clock and while I'm replacing the drier, o-rings and stuck Trinary, that is top drivers side very near condenser, I have not been able to find the Binary safety switch. Thanks and hope to see more of your videos.
Thanks for this. I wasn't sure about the adjustment, but now I've done it after watching your video. The procedure is identical to the W123 albeit Mercedes made it easier in the W164..
i usually choose a slight decline and use the emergency as a brake .Apply and release a number of times to stop the vehicle and let it roll. This ensures the proper drag on the adjustment.
On a vito, the adjustment is done through one of the wheel bolt holes, and if you've got steel wheels on it, you have no need to even take the wheel off - just one bolt out! Surely, one should slacken the adjuster enough so the wheel spins without binding, not slacken back only as far as you can turn the wheel?
Hello there, Thanks for very good demo.I have a mercede C200 CDI 2007 diesel. The brake disk in the rear missing any handbrake adjustment whole with a rubber plug. Do I need to take off the brake disk for adjustment?
Thank you! and hope my reply finds you well, I have a mercedes 2015 glk250 bluetec, and my parking brale is a little bit negative you have to step on it very firmly then you can feel it works a little, so can you please tell me how to judge if that needs to be adjusted or be replaced? thank you! and the other problem is really confusing, when I twist my key, all the check lights on my dash board would turn on including the parking brake light, then they would disappear normally, but then no matter whether I apply or release the parking brake, the parking brake light would never on.... so do you know why? thank you!
I have a message on my head unit that says "improper connection of parking break lead". When I start the car, as soon as I start moving I hear a grinding noise and the car won't go. After about 2 minutes of this, she starts to move fine and I can drive all day without an issue, until I park and turn off the car. Then I have to go through that again. Any ideas?
I just tried to do this on my 2009 Mercedes A160, but the wheel hub is different: it's smaller in diameter, so the outer-radius section, where the brake adjustment hole should be, is simply not there.
I had the same issue but I was able to see and adjust the teeth through one of the lug bolt holes...just turned the disk to the approximate position shown here. When you see a spring come into view, slow down....the teeth are above the spring in the center.
@@hallieboy Thanks. I saw the spring, and tried to look for the teeth next to it, but didn't see it. I probably didn't look hard enough. Should do it again with better lighting...
@@gintasvilkelis2544 You need to shine a really bright light directly into the hole...even then, the teeth, above the spring in the center of it, are barely visible. But don't worry. If I can do it with my bad eyesight, so can you!
Good question! I have a MB Vito. Parking brake adjustment is basically the same but I struggled with the offside. On the offside, I had to turn the adjuster in the opposite direction. Obvious when you think about it. but I've never seen it explained in any of the videos or how-tos.
I have a problem with my car i have a w212 2010 e350 when i hit the gaz paddle i get a warning saying (esp malfunction check the operation manual) and all the dash lights up and my gaz paddle starts Lacking when i accelerate until i turn the car off it works againperfectly. Do you know if this will fix the ABS light that's on .. Read it could be as simple as the parking brake being out of adjustment ... Thanx for your help
Keith, I have a rear wheel off my 2002 E320 wagon with the mind to adjust the parking brake. Instead of a rubber plug and five lug holes, I only found a 5mm metal plug close to one of the lug holes. Took it out and hole was too small to see anything. Looking through the lug holes with a light I can see a couple springs but nothing that looks like the set up in your video. Any suggestions with this? Thanks, Nick
When adjusting the emergency brake (e-brake or parking brake), it is generally not necessary to engage the e-brake while making the adjustment. In fact, it’s typically recommended to have the e-brake disengaged or in the “off” position during the adjustment process.
Mate, U seam to know what you are doing. Got a question for U. Got an A160, both hand brake and brake lights are on and it beeps when the car moves. Any ideas what's causing that and how to fix it?
Hi Keith, thank you for this video! I have a 2006 C350 4Matic. When you are tightening that gear, the car is in neutral and the parking brake is off, correct? (If it was in park, won't you be unable to turn the wheel to test for movement?). Also, with my vehicle being a 4Matic, can I do this job with just the rear wheels jacked, or do I need to have all wheels off the ground? Thank you!
It's that easy? Should there be any drag at all when it's done, it appears you left some drag on there, or should it freewheel with no drag when adjusted?

WOW that is not the propper procedure to adjust any internal rotor park brake shoes on any car. 1. back off the park brake cable fully to allow the internal park brake shoes to come back to rest and sit against the shoe adjuster stops [Points]. 2. remove the rear brake calipers to prevent a false reading of the park brake shoes when adjusting and to fully inspect the shoes and to clean them out. [Brake caliper pads also drag against the rotors] A false adjustment with the cable still tensioned will when the park brakes heat up will apply drag against the inner rotor and can cause danger to lock up of the rear rotors causing a car accident. Or not allowing the car to move at all when stopped. Or to wear out the park brake shoes way before time. [Costly exercise]. The adjustment. With the rotors now free to move on its own, remove the rotors and have a look at the park brake shoes them seleves. Why adjust the park brake shoes if their worn out. If they are ok, get 500 grit sand paper and scuff the shoes up to remove the shine. Shiny shoes won't make the park brake work correctly, and worse still in the wet when you may need the safety of the park brake more so. Also clean the brake dust away using proper procedures regarding brake dust. Ever applied the park brake and the car moves and then stops? thats due to the shoes being shiny and no friction because the inner part of the rotor where the shoes rub and the shoes themselves are both shiny. [scuff/roughen up the shoes and inside the rotors as well will allow good grip when the park brakes are applied]. If you have scuffed up the shoes and put the rotors back on and everything is clean, you can now adjust the park brake cam to allow the park brake shoes to lock against the rotor to prevent the rotors from turining. Doing this will allow the shoes to find center. to centeralize the shoes. Then slowy back the cam off until the rotors move and drag over the shoes. The drag should feel natural and not hard to move. If you feel the drag is a little weak, then the cable adjustment will take up the errors, hence why you slacken off the park brake cable and to allow the shoes to sit against the resting stops [Points]. With the cable still tensioned the shoes are off rest and the park brake is being aprtially applied. Once your happy with the results, now adjust the park brake cable. From fully off to applied you are looking for 6 ratchet clicks of the park brake leaver to give you a fully working and safe park brake. For any work on brakes, do the correct procedure and you will be safe. Doing non master tech half harted untrainned technician and unsafe work that you are taught on youtube will do you more harm then good, and will cost you more money that you don't have. Ask a qualified fully trainned Technician if you are unsure. Note. This procedure is all carried out by qualified technicians when you pay to have the job done correctly at your service center. But now if you follow the correct procedure you to at home can do the same thing. Plus you won't have to fix your silly mistakes that cost you money by non qualified teachers. Work smarter not harder... Keith with respect. Teach the correct procedure or close the channel down. Someone is going to get seriously injured or killed while you teach people BS unsafe techniques and you shouldn't be lending any techniques whilst not being a fully qualified technician, because if you were you wouldn't be teaching this crap that will cause serious injury or death.
