I have isuues with my W211,when I repaced my ABS sensor ring, the handbrake cable couldn't fit back so I left it handing and my car failed MOT bevause of this,I was stuck and now I have a clue to fix it and this video jas brought light and I will save upto £200+Thanks very much sir
Thank you, with your guidance I was able to free and lubricate the parking brake on my 2008 CLC 220. Beforehand it was necessary to raise the pedal by using my toe behind but no longer. Keep up the good work (from Steve in the NW of England)
Thank you so much, I just fixed my coupe in 20 minutes despite the lack of space getting to it on a 2 door. A couple of sockets, a screwdriver to loosen it off and a good soaking with WD40 and its sorted. Thats one rip off I won't be experiencing at the garage. A million thanks
Thank you so much for this. My parking brake hasn’t been working and with you showing the easy access to the splitter enabled a simple diagnosis of the fault of mine. Thankfully, for me, it was merely the cable in the front had popped out...
Thanks Friend, I have a 1984 300d that I heard that spring break. I think I have to get under the car (maybe raised a bit to wedge my not so thin self under) to verify. I always enjoy your videos. I already tried the tightening of the star screws accessed at the rear wheels for the emergency cable to each wheel, but no joy. Keep up the wonderful work. If you see Kent Bergsma, please give him a three finger salute for me... :).
Thanks soo much for sharing this!! It was really instructive. Im just figuring out whats the problem with the parking brake on my CLK 2003, and I guess the construction is similar...
Wow that was nice instructional video and yes I am hopping for new one how can we replace this broken part. As always very educational and entertaining , thank you
I have 2008 E280 CDI Sport 4-door E211 and this middle panel is not under the back seat. The two circular one's are but not the middle one nor is it under the boot liner in the boot.
Any lubricant will help lube once it moves, I buy whatever is on sale, and spray fluid film rustproofing to help stop rust on vehicles I bring east to the salt belt from dry western U.S.
Hi, I have a 2004 S500 4Matic and the parking brake handle is stuck in the open position. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Any input is appreciated.
That's interesting. Shouldn't there be a plate or something below that mechanism in the C? On my w208, the whole assembly is on the inside and not accessible at all from below. There is a small cover plate on top. Looks like without a bottom cover, that space would get pelted with grime and water from below.
What I'm working on now is my 2001 ML320, the emergency brake was only acting on the left wheel, then it stopped working completely, pedal to the floor! I thought my emergency brake shoes were worn, and the rotors gouged. But in fact the cable had come disconnected at the front above the drive shaft and exhaust system. So I'll try tackle reinstalling it today, and the emergency brakes are like brand new in the back, but what I was looking for was the tool to remove the ebrake U spring. What a struggle...
I have w209 and I just checked this system, mine is stuck kn release. Spraying everything with wd40 and tomorrow is going to be a big day for maintaining my car since tehnical inspection day is coming quickly
This is a common fault on mercedes cars of this era because there is a hole under the cable junction that exposes it to the weather elements over time it locks up my merc clk 240 was the same
I own E- class had problems with cable , I had take handle apart rerun cable so it would work properly not a big deal but really it’s bad engineering on manufacturing side
I hate this kind of parking brake it is so useless and so many points of it to fail it just causes more problems i got it with the handle to release it is just not working so if you put the parking brake on it will not come off why did Mercedes not just use a normal parking brake or even electric one as that does not have as much problems as this stupid one does.
Thank you, your video is the only real solution of this parking brake release problem.

Most of garages are more clueless than customers are. It goes for MB too. Nice fix, mate. My brake is clogging too. Time for open dissection.
Sir, thanks so much for showing where the fulcrum and 2 to 1 splitter was.....

I meant to say one finger salute, but the three finger (cntrl-alt-delete) is just as good :). Thank you for sharing and not selling your information!

Thanx you friend. Brilliant video, i hope the E class-W211 is in the same place.
This was a lifesaver, I'm not mechanically inclined but I figured what the hell and saved myself $200 or so
Thank you for this, it's the exact same problem on my 2007 mod. 🙏
Great informative video. Thanks!

Thank you so very much, you are a blessing!!

When i went to adjust it, i put spanner on adjusting nut and it SHEERED OFF !!
So going to try and remove whole assembly and see what i can do ??
ok, thanks ...but now what needs to be replaced???..you left off with the cables going to each rear assembly. 2005 c 240
Will this work on a 1998 E320 gasoline?

brilliant! thank you for uploading. my spring is broken too. What spring did you replace it with? Did you try replacing the original spring.
Thank you...lovely video! Regards
Can you help me? My brake lights stays on when I'm driving and doesn't turn off. What do I do?
I don't believe those do much, if anything. So many folks think they work magic, I don't!
