@@oldRighty1 Alfa class subs could do 41 knots submerged and K222 could do 44 knots submerged. But at those speeds they were incredibly noisy (both inside and out) and you didn't need sonar to hear them coming.
USS Archerfish was the Submarine that sank the Shimano, Sistership to Yamato and Musashi. Interesting that WG introduced the very sub that has sunk the largest aircraftcarrier in wartime !!.
Why were you not selecting manual secondaries on targets most of the time? You lost a lot of secondary DPM cuz of that. Especially on GK after the sub died and the Iwami. Your secondaries have a range of 15 kms when the instructions are active. Even the Henri was within its range.
@@Flambass As the other guy is saying unless they changed that skill since I last played (years ago at this point), the secondaries get better dispersion over time against the designated target so its not just getting the guns shooting at what you want. You can see the skill icon light up when active and ramping up and go grey when its inactive and decaying. Granted at close range against BBs in particular that can actually be counter productive as they'll just shatter on the main armor belt.
The comment at the end about the game doing the damage is absolutely correct. Even a nonskilled person like me can do well in a ship like Libertad/Bismarck/Massachusets.
I love both Ships equaly, Schliefen compared to the Libertad trades a bit of DPM and survivability for Hydro and Torps. I like Schliefen for the utility and Libertad for the raw damage.
The guy in chat who said "Yamato was obsolete the moment she was laid down" - many people in the Japanese military were aware of that or had a foreshadowing and advocated to instead spend the money and resources to improve the army and airforce (including more dedicated fleetcarriers that weren't just conversions of older hulls). It took an obscene amount of political maneuvering and shenanigans to push the designs through and in the end the ships practically contributed nothing to the war except for agitating the US to figure out how to get more armour on firepower on a hull that could still go through the Panama Canal which resulted in the Iowa-class. There's a movie about it called "The Great War of Archimedes".
Archimedes is a great historical fiction movie with a powerful message. It's based on a manga by Morifusa Mita. While having no basis in history it does portray the philosophical change between those who foresaw the changes that the Carrier would make to wars - like Yamamoto and Mitchell. To a lesser extent it also addresses the "death culture" that had been drummed into the Japanese for generations, thought not to the extent that it truly was. Highly recommend.
@@Flambass True that. Can you imagine Yamato with the fire control of NC or Iowa? But, I guess the catch is, you gotta get close enough to use them guns. Other than Tafffy 3, they never did.
all sides in the conflict had that problem, where the focus lied on Big ships with Big Guns, when the naval boards in general already Knew that those ships would be largely useless in most circumstances or at least not cost effective in comparison to other ships, especially Carriers which could carry more bang for buck and have a bigger impact overall
@@Flambass I wish, I wish. They were beautiful ships after all. I really love that scene from Man in the Highcastle when the IJN fleet enters San Francisco Bay. That hits the spot juuuust right.
" this thing burns so easily" . Its not you. This ship has the tendency of getting on fire super easy. Like its doused in gas. Other ship that had similar issues was Bismarck, even when all upgraded to fight against fires.. IT always caught fire more often than ANY other ship I' ve ever had.
If you think the speed and acceleration of Libertad is insane, Archerfish does well over 40 knots above and below the water.
Briliant
45.9 if I'm remembering correctly.
I served on two Los Angeles class subs and they didn’t do 40+ knots ever. I hate wg going full special for this game.
@@michaelanderson2166 Yes, but those subs had a pitiful nuclear reactor as a power source. The WWII subs had the true might of diesel!!!

Because afaik you don't benefit anything from that anymore, only that your secondaries shoot the target you want
You only benefit from selecting the target when you have the admiral skill for it.
@@Flambass you sure? your running man sec which literally gives you -50% dispersion bonus on manually selected targets

I absolutely love secodary ships and this is my new favorite, especially with the special captain! Enjoy it while it lasts bros!
That Los Andes who came second I think played the best.

Best counter ship to Libertad is a Conqurer or abother high he spammer
Leg Mod Colombo is pretty good too...
Any accurate bb can be a pain too, you can citadel Libertad sort of easily from the nose.

I would agree but I would also argue that Japan just need radar to go from obselete to holy cow we are in trouble
