Still can't top an A-10 for CAS. GAU-8 Avenger go BRRRRPT, & with the titanium bathtub for the pilot with 2 redundant hydraulic systems & mechanical linkages, A-10 ignores AK-47 bullets like flies, while turning a column of tanks into scrap metal.
@@LightbringerDesigns yup. Still, it can’t do much else. It has one purpose, and it certainly does it well, but it’s no use when there’s other jets in the sky.
The kicker is that they only hold 220 rounds. The "monstrously " powerful gun is dry in less than 4 seconds.

In October 1996 I saw the F-22, the F-35's cousin at Lockheed Martin, Marietta, GA assembly plant. Truly alien technology. Now here in 2022 I wonder what's in the "Skunk Works" now.

Great planes. Very different jobs than the F-35.
The F-35 is meant to swarm, undetected, in numbers that are unmatched, with avionics and radars systems, that checkmate the enemy before they ever see the plane.
They have a very wide skill set. Literally able to escort each other, with some serving as bombers, and others as fighters.
Once they clear the way, and take out the enemy radar and SAM sites, the A-10's get to have their fun.
Love this beast and the F-22 Raptor, but let's gives props to the F-15 Eagle. It took these two planes to de-commish the king.
F-15 is like 125-0 against Russian Migs. Granted it's Israeli pilots against Egyptian, Lebanese and Syrian part-time cab drivers, but a damn impressive service combat record
F15 was designed to fight. F35 is designed to rake in cash. They are both good at what they were designed for.

Great pro-F35 video in light of all the bad press of cost over-runs and failures.
Those bad press come from the people who dont fly, design or dont even know the functionalities of the components of a fighter.
It shouldn't have ever gotten bad press. The military needs a work horse, and this plane replaces the F-16 and the F-18.
It's a massive upgrade over both.
The very expensive F-22 is for superiority, just like the F-15 was, which is 104-0 in combat today.
@@brads26 The bad press came from delays in production, prototype malfunctions and cost over runs. We'll find out soon how they do in combat.
@@brads26 If thats the case, then why do we have dozens of F-22s but don't use them? Is it maybe because, after trillions of dollars were spent developing and building the F-22s, those planes are still too unreliable for even our military to consider using them?
@@lenguyenphi Or they come from pissed of tax payers who were informed that trillions of their money was wasted on a developing and building a plane that our military deems too unreliable to put serve as a replacement for planes that are literally 40 years old. If you didn't know, defense contractors and the Pentagon are in lock-step when it comes to developing expensive weapons programs that ultimately never get used, and are often inferior to existing weapons. Its a giant sink where our tax money goes down the drain. If you aren't aware of how incompetent Pentagon spending has wasted trillions of tax dollars, then you need to do better research.

The insane accuracy promised by the aiming system is what makes the Gatling gun so incredible. The Gatling gun has a variable burst option firing anything from 1 round to full auto. The main reason for the high rate of fire is to allow a short computer controlled burst in a very small area, even while flying at high speed. Where the A10 could hose an area the size of a football field, the F35 could theoretically fire 5 rounds in a area the size of a Soup Plate. Theoretically.

How can ANYONE LOVE a piece of technology that is used by a nation without the capacity or will to win a war. All the US does is fly this crap around hoping like hell that people are affraid of them and won't want to go to war. After all if the US is forced into ANY kind of conflict the result will be the US again LOSING.
Nothing for a while. Perhaps a replacement for the Raptor by the 2030s but the F35s are clearly supposed to take us into the 2050s. No way they order 2500 of them, otherwise.

The problem with the Lightning II is a jack of all trades is a master at none.. i like the look of it though.. and that helmet.
Just had one crash here in Utah at Hill air force base. No human injuries thankfully !
They have a few losses.
Once you start hanging "stuff" off of its pylons you lose stealth and maneuverability. Only the "A" version, (Air Force), has an internal cannon. B and C, you have to attach the cannon to its belly. A compromise at best. Cheers.
I wasn't aware of that, they all appear to have the cannon, offset to the left of the engine intake.

Hey Jan ! can you explain to me just what good that spectacled female is to out country just standing around watching the guys do all the lifting. Look at 4:48 of the video. Is that what you call allowing "strong" women in to the military, to stand there and do fuc- all. It was the dame in the private sector. As an engineer, whenever we had to reverse engineer any machine, the men in the office had to do all the heavy lifting and the greasy dirty work, whilst the "ladies" sat around filing their collective nails. Sure equal pay for "non equal" work.

Technically there are 4 variations, because Isreal gets specialized ones with their own fire control, weapon systems, etc.

No. Any aircraft flying at low altitude is vulnerable to ground attack. The A10 has numerous design features to help protect the aircraft and pilot when flying at low altitude in a CAS role. The F35 does not. Also, the F35 cost $100 million each. You could build an entire squadron of A10's for the cost of 5 F35's.
@@NealB123 actually the A10 is expensive. The most expensive aircraft in air force service to maintain. I like the A10 but it's days are over. F35 with control of loyal wingman drones. And other drones are the future. The f35 can be miles away and control drones that provide cas.
I have the privilege of being woke up from the full after burners of these glorious birds @ 9am in here Arizona.
I think the Marine model is the best way to go.

US admits F-35 failed to replace F-16 as planned, needs new fighter jet. To face it the US Air Force is modernizing over 600 Block 40 and 50 F-16s in one of the most extensive aircraft modernization programs ever.

This superb air-plane will go down in history as a Legend. The 'Fighter Hall Of Fame beckons'. The F35 will join the P38 there, as well as many other iconic US war-birds.
The P38 actually proved itself in combat. Doubtful that the F35 ever will. It was designed for one mission: vacuum up tax dollars into Lockheed's pocket and its hundreds of subcontractors. It has succeeded wildly.

Nothing is better than The A-10.
Lots of things are better than the A-10, but nothing is better than the A-10 if you need close ground support.

F-22 and SU-57 are Air Dominance fighters, the F-35 it's a multi-purpose jet.
It's like comparint the F-15 or the SU-27 with the F-18...
Yes the F-35's and the F-22's are designed to be "Stealth" fighters first but each can be used in a more conventional manner like the F-16's ; the F-15's when Stealth isn't needed as much so the USAF could have a very large attack capability.
Not to mention Electronic Warfare is becoming more of the norm where Growler support helps with keeping less stealthily aircrafts out of the radar.

It's my understanding that the F-35A Version has a gun. The other Versions have pod options.

It doesn’t matter how many rounds the gun carries because it doesn’t have the ability to remain on station like the A10 does nor does it carry the amount of ordnance.
Technically it can hover, but I don't think it's meant to replace the A-10.
It's seems like a combined replacement for the F-16 and F-18, which is good, because the F-18 sucks a little bit, and we're likely going to see what the F-16 can do against Chinese airpower in Taiwan, very shortly.
Bit morbid, but it will be interesting. If the CCP has trouble with Taiwan's older F-16's, they're paper tigers.

2500 of them by 2024? Wow.... Unmatched airpower by far. With the 200 Raptors, the Eagle EX, the Hornet Block III, and the tons of F16's, the US could easily dominate the rest of the world combined, in the air.

Very odd for the Navy not to have more marine-designed jets, for the carriers.
Resources better spent if Navy do CAS for Marines? Like AF does for Army rather effectively. The unpopular reality is that the B model is marginally more mission effective - ordinance carried - for CAS than the Harrier. Stealth is mostly unneeded for CAS, and if it is then the C model could do it; the Marines aren't doing an amphibious landing without air superiority.
F-35C yes the Navy has the most advanced carrier based aircraft in history, what we don't have, yet,is there F-35C operating in combat conditions off there new Gerald Ford,with its ELAS systems which is new tech like a roller coaster they are not good enough yet. They work but not reliably enough yet.
I’d love to see the percentage of times that the aircraft are damaged during rearmament.
