Hey! I am facing the same issue. My Gopro Hero 8 does not turn on or charge (The red led indicator does not glow). Although it heats up quite a bit when i plug it in for charging. Did you guys find any solution for the following issue. PS- The gopro was working fine a few days ago.

I'm not absolutely sure but my GoPro is working fine now. Just press power button firmly but don't continue to hold it. I was pressing the power button for too long and it would not power up. I was holding the power button and waiting for a beep. lol
@@RCRoads i contacted gopro support and since it was under a year from purchase they just replaced mine and upgraded me to a hero 9. if you haven’t owned it longer than a year i’d say get it exchanged asap before it shuts off forever like mine did 🤣
@@aaronvince561 I contacted them as well but they didn't offer me anything. How do you like your 9? I just picked one up and have shot with it a few times. Some of the footage was at a 45 deg angle. I need to play with the settings but the image quality is much better than the 8.
Im having the same issue with my gopro hero 8. My warranty just over in July 2021. Never drop it and seldom use, i cant turn it on. When charging only showing the red charging light at the front, but nothing on the rear screen. Went to go pro store, try changing battery but still not resolved. Now im stucked 😭

This GoPro 8 is only 5 months old. 2 7 silver were dead before this but covered with warranty. This 3rd one is an upgrade because when the 2nd one was broken no more hero 7 so I paid more to get this 8 but just after the warranty it’s dead. I did not buy GoPro again after this
@@Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay support was able to get mine going within a few min only thing he had me do different was change charging cords n did factory reset once it was working 2x it did come on after using a different cord without the battery or sd card in it with the long press on the mode button good luck
Same problem with my GoPro. It's only been used for a few times. I have another Hero 8 and it's a couple of years old and has be used and abused and still works great. I have a charger and 3 new batteries and I know they are fully charged but still the 8 won't power up.
I have the same issue. I would have to take the battery out and put it back in. Which is a major problem. This was with batteries I purchased direct from their website.

This video was made for GoPro Support because they asked me for a video. The first staff told me to replace my GoPro as a courtesy because this was used for 5 months only but another staff sent me an email and told me that they can not replace because my first purchase receipt was already more than a year as I bought hero 7 silver and the microphone had a problem so they replaced with 7 silver but the second silver also stopped working and I upgraded to 8 plus cash but this died after 5 months. This is not a coincidence to have 3 broken GoPros in just a year. I am very disappointed of these products.

Same thing to this GoPro very hot when plugged to charger. There is a short circuit when I tested. No fix for the until now. After this case I did not buy GoPro anymore but on December last year I decided to get a hero 7 black as it was cheaper already. Used but almost new. But last September it does not turn off anymore. Everytime I insert a battery or charger it turns on. Then after a few weeks it keeps restarting while recording so no chance to record a video anymore. Now I have another GoPro to add to my junk. GoPro’s are really junk 😡
Just a up. I brought my GoPro 8 to a repair shop and they just cleaned the charging port, (he said it didn’t look to dirty) And the cleaning fixed it. Hope this helps someone God bless
This one is dead mate can’t turn it on. GoPro said they will send me a courtesy replacement but other staff said no because out of warranty. I used this unit for 5 months only after my 2 7 silver were both returned due to defects. Good performance but not durable even just normal use
@@Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay Benj, my GP7 black occasionally freezes and I just pull out the battery while Ellen uses her GP7 black all the time and never had a problem. Looks like it's the luck of the draw. Some are perfect while others are a dud.

@@Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay Benj, Ellen 's GoPro 7 black is still working after 2 years and she uses it all the time, she just uploaded another video in Surigao Del Sur, mine still works after 3 years. Maybe buy a second hand GoPro7 black as it has very good stabilisation and you can replace the lens cover on it as you can't on the GoPro8. Also, you can use the same batteries, but you will need a camera cage mount as it does not have those two fold out feet on the bottom.
Same issue with my Go Pro 8, just went on a Florida trip and went offshore fishing, I did everything I could to fix GoPro 8 before we fished. We had a whale shark fish around our boat for 10 minutes and I could not video. I ended up putting my sons Iphone in a zip lock and submerged in water for a minute or so to get video. GoPro 8 Black failed me when I needed it the most....
I am sure there would be a go pro help page or go pro facebook group but i understand your frustration. How long have you had it? I am getting go pro 8 for Charry in May so hope same prob does not happen. All the best my friend.

I was excited to know that they will send me a new GoPro after all the proofs I sent but was so disappointed to know the feedback of other staff. GoPro is trash. 3 GoPro’s were damaged in a year at normal use and very expensive.
This hero 8 lasted only for 5 months but was not able to connect to GoPro support in many months so I just connected to them this month before this unit reached 1 year
There are shops that repair gopros in the Philippines but a bit expensive and may not be water proof anymore. Am planning to buy a hero 7 black. Cheap now and quality is good enough than buying new models that might have same issues. My Akaso Brave 7LE is still in good condition after more than a year now. Better than GoPros which I got 3 damaged in 1 year. Only 2 things I wish Akaso have are the sound quality and quick capture

Hello my friend! I also use GoPro, but in case of trouble, the only thing I can check is to replace the battery or update the firmware! Most of the trouble was caused by the battery! I tried other batteries but did not work my friend. This video was sent to GoPro support when they asked for a video. It's sad that other manufactures batteries mess up the functionality of the GoPro. I never had any issues until I started using an off brand battery. I just picked up a Hero 9 and ordered some more Ebay specials for it. I guess now I'll toss all those batteries and chargers and only use certified GoPro power systems. It would be interesting to know what the actual issue is with off brand batteries. Low voltage? Reverse polarity? What is the secret behind the magical GoPro batteries?
Di ko pa rin napagana. Ang video na yan hiningi ng GoPro support yan dahil palitan daw tapos di rin pinalitan dahil ang unang unit na nabili ko mahigit 1 year na kaya out of warranty na. Pang 3 GoPro ko yan na nasira in 1 year. Dalawa ang na warranty tas pang 3 yan upgraded from 7. Sobrang palpak ang quality ng GoPro

Yeah partial short circuit. I tested the mains it has 5 ohms on reverse bias. almost shorted. I don’t have a working hero 8 so I can not compare

Hi Benj, once my GP 7 was playing up and a different brand of SD card fixed the issue, although yours is a different problem.

Hello my friend! I also use GoPro, but in case of trouble, the only thing I can check is to replace the battery or update the firmware! Most of the trouble was caused by the battery!

I tried other batteries but did not work my friend. This video was sent to GoPro support when they asked for a video. One staff sent me an email to give me a one time courtesy replacement even though the 1st purchase was out of warranty but the other staff sent me an email that it’s out of warranty and can not replace. Was disappointed with the assessment without one decision.
@@Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay I used to pay $65 for 3 years cover na if damage they can replace.. But the button line there is hassle then time consuming pa kasi pupunta ka sa shop to complain..
It's sad that other manufactures batteries mess up the functionality of the GoPro. I never had any issues until I started using an off brand battery. I just picked up a Hero 9 and ordered some more Ebay specials for it. I guess now I'll toss all those batteries and chargers and only use certified GoPro power systems. It would be interesting to know what the actual issue is with off brand batteries. Low voltage? Reverse polarity? What is the secret behind the magical GoPro batteries?
This happens with the batteries you buy direct from the company as well in my experience. This is why I stopped using my GoPro

Di ko pa rin napagana. Ang video na yan hiningi ng GoPro support yan dahil palitan daw tapos di rin pinalitan dahil ang unang unit na nabili ko mahigit 1 year na kaya out of warranty na. Pang 3 GoPro ko yan na nasira in 1 year. Dalawa ang na warranty tas pang 3 yan upgraded from 7. Sobrang palpak ang quality ng GoPro

what a piece of crap GO Pro is, I have the same problem with mine. Frustating because I paid a lot of hard gained money on this terrible product. I don't recommend anymore and I'll never buy again
@@mizeravi567 yeah, I bought another one for the last try a hero 7 black but lasted only for a few months and now it’s automatically turns on when battery is inserted or charger is plugged. What a waste of money and a big frustration to us users

@@melgozakoki85 I am hesitant to get another GoPro as I got 2 7 silver and this 8 a total of 3 GoPros damaged in just a year 2 were covered with warranty and this one at first the GoPro staff replied my email and promised to replace this unit and asked for this video. But another staff sent me an email and said no more warranty based on the first receipt. This unit was like 5 months old with out even submerging to water. Still waiting for a reliable model or even other brand with quick capture and good audio
