Larry Hoppen was so talented and a real nice person too. Saw Orleans in many configurations and venues. The Performance Center n Harvard Sq. Cambridge was probably the finest (and earliest). Goddamn, what a great band!
I remember well the management advice to adopt the "loose tie, pushed-up sleeve suit coat" look! My band at the time did exactly that. I had never seen this clip, Lance, and it is weird to see you playing guitar for the whole thing. But still sounding great!
What a strong performance. I wasn't expecting the new songs to have a country-rock flavoring, but it works really well. Was there any music videos from it?
I wasn't familiar with this part of Orleans history. Thanks for posting this! Questions Questions....Why was Lance taken off the bass? Did you guys have a sponsorship deal with Takamine? Perfect harmonies as always guys. And Bela Fleck!
Hi Roger ... Answers! Simple one - YES, we had an endorsement deal with Takamine, which was a new brand at the time looking to make inroads in the American market. We got those 3 guitars for $1000! and I still have mine. :-) More complex one ... I was moved from bass on some misguided theory that bass players aren't frontline singers ... but acoustic players are? The downside was I felt somewhat disrespected at the time, but I also enjoyed playing guitar and got better at it by necessity. And Glenn was (and is) great!
I saw John Hall play at a "guitar pull" on Capitol Hill when he was in Congress. He was great. Orleans is one of my all time favorite bands. I constantly listen to them.
@@OrleansOnline Congrats to you Lance for expanding your talents, even if under difficult circumstances. I always looked up to you for following your dream...You guys are incredible musicians for sure...
A song like this might have done better in 1994 or 2004 or 2014 or 2024 if the listeners never knew it was a band from the 1970s it has a very country sound to it

I've loved the band since '74.. and John Hall is a National Treasure
How cool to see this! Just another chapter in the history of one of the most talented cluster of musicians ever. Thanks for posting!
Larry’s voice is so clear.
Loved it. Not only are they outstanding musicians, but the harmonies are sooooooo smooth
Grew up loving the group - And now growing old and still loving them! Hold a special place in my heart!
Absolutely phenomenol and as good as it gets.
This a fantastic album (as I have them all). Definitely a change for the band, but a clever one at that. Always outstanding...always gentleman.
Love this 😀 great songs and sound ❤️🙏
This is incredible - never before have seen it! Thank you.🎤☕🌞🎹🌻💖

Love this! Was supposed to see Orleans last March, but it was cancelled as was everything, but hoping to see them in the future.
Awesome music, Sounds similar to Restless Heart.

@@OrleansOnline Thanks very much for responding! I think throughout your career you've proven that bass players ARE front line singers.

Even in this incarnation I dig them, but it's strange compared to the rest of their output.
And Glen Worf on bass, Bruce Bouton on steel too! Who knew?!!
Looks like Bob Leanback on keys
