Fuji XM1 Barcelona Review & XE2 / XA1 Thoughts

The Fujifilm XM1 puts the innovative X-Trans sensor from the Fuji X-Pro1 and XE1 in a smaller lighter body. What's not to like? We do some photography in Barcelona to find out...
Have Fujifilm listened TOO much to their customers and fleshed out their X-Series too fast giving consumers too much choice? Is the Fujifilm XM1 better than the XA1 (Yes) for the price (That depends). What about the Fujifilm XE2 - and the slew of XE1 cameras it will push onto the used market?
Ultimately they're all great little cameras and it comes down to a few key features (like a viewfinder vs a tiltable LCD screen) and personal preference. Pictures with the camera in Barcelona are about half-way through!

This is the only kit review I have seen (and trust me, I see a few) where the review comments on the photographs taken with the equipment, and acknowledges the subjectivity of individual requirements. Hats off.

I've been thinking of picking up a Fuji X camera for about 12 months. Just got the XM1 with an amazing deal on Amazon. XM-1 with 16-50 lens for £410 but with that I got £100 voucher from Amazon and £100 cash back from Fuji making it £210. I really wanted the XE-2 but for the price I paid for the XM-1 I'll wait another 12 months then pick up the XE-2 :)

Hello Monsieur Ben, 20 years later, the Fujifilm X-A1 has become the essential street camera!
You can still find it used so take advantage of it, it's an extraordinary device 😊

Thanks very much. I especially liked the last few minutes hands on with the menus and your advice to go get some hands on at a camera store. I'm torn between the XM1 (easy to travel with) and the features of the XE1. Off to the store to get feely LOL

Until further notice, the XM-1 body is magnesium. Very lightweight. Best idea for this camera. That little wheel you don't like, you do have to read the manual a few times when you get the camera to start remembering that pressing on the top of the wheel instead of rotating it will give you a digital zoom to help focus with in certain camera settings. Manual, is one, as I remember. Sorry, had the body only a week. THe saddest part about this camera, is that the first day I photographed outside, I took a black and white square fine setting photo that looked like I had studied the zone system with an electron microscope. The most uncanny shot I ever took. (Been in the game since 1970) The first day. It's downhill from here.
