Hi White girl here because i appreciate how Black women seem to have some self care secrets and set really good priorities in beauty routines. I started wrapping my hair and taking a different approach a few years back and have seen such an improvement in my hair i have similar issues with washing my hair or did before i got rid of traditional shampoos. I use a similar wash routine but instead of shampoo i dissolve a small amount of rhassoul clay in a squirt bottle and use it like a clay masque to cleanse my scalp and hair, i section and clean it as i go and let it sit before rinsing in a cooler stream of water. then afterwards i use a small amount of jojoba oil. Now i realize our textures are completely different but i think we likely struggle with similar issues. the hair masque is so easy quick and gentle and it promotes hair growth and shine but the huge bonus is that it is so quick and effective it changes the way you feel about washing your hair. Also i love your hair its beautiful !!

Great video and informative. I agree 100% with you regarding hydration, moisturization and detangling. These 3 things are key to hair growth and retention. How do you maintain and acquire hydration? H20, Aqua, Water! Washing your hair on a set schedule and pattern which will ensure hydration. I personally prefer every 5-7 days (my hair has grown tremendously). What about moisturization? A sealant on top of the hydration equals moisturization and refreshing every 2-3 days. Detangling gently and patiently will ensure length retention, I prefer my fingers only. Also, limited heat and trims. By doing all of these you will have less shedding and tangling. Natural hair is not hard to maintain as many would say and then opt for a relaxer because its "easier." Natural hair requires maintenance and respect in return your hair will thrive with limitless options and become manageable.

Thank you so much for this video Shell!! I’ve been natural for the past 8-9 years but wasn’t really retaining length because I was getting protective styles that weren’t protecting. Then I was getting silk presses and each time it changed my hair a bit. I put in a texturizer and my hair was still thick so I cut that out gradually it was healthy again and thriving. Decided to get a silk press November last year and as I was getting it I just knew something was off! It turned out beautifully but it was like too beautiful lol too straight and I was like yup this was the one. When I washed it and it didn’t bounce back I was like welp. Started wearing installed wigs and got a bald spot. So I bleached the front lol because I knew I was cutting it all off soon. I would roller set my pineapple and it was cute but you could see the struggle. I am so excited to cut it all off and start this journey over and do it right this time! No more lazy natural. I want to really learn my hair and enjoy the ride!!

My daughter has been wearing her hair natural since she was in middle school, now she is a freshman in college and her hair is healthy and below her shoulders. Thanks to youtube content creators like you I learned a lot concerning managing our natural hair and different hairstyles. Thank u so much!!! This was very informative. I was over 9yrs natural. I permed my hair. Bad mistake!!! Have had issues since. Now returning to natural hair. Being a minimalist this go round. Only plan to use 5 products, from shampoo to styler. Record products that work and those that don't. Stick with what works. Also use more stuff in your pantry than chemicals. God gave us everything we need in our lives for our health as well as every other area in our life. I'm thankful for that. Thanks again for taking time to record this video.

Thank you so much for this video and supporting my hair growth journey! Huge tip for those who hate cold showers: rather than closing/smoothing the hair cuticle and pores by finishing a wash day with cold water, instead, put one or all of your post-wash/deep conditioner products in the fridge (not below 40 or 34 degrees F to prevent messing with the formula, consistency and preservatives). This works even better if your doing it with an oil, butter, or product with lots of oil/butter or protein as they seal and smooth the cuticle (for definition, less frizz, and healthier hair).

Putting your deep conditioner in the fridge is pointless in my opinion. The point of deep conditioning is for it really penetrate deep in your hair follicle and give you extreme moisture. You need heat your deep conditioner so that the hair cuticles are raised and the deep conditioner can really get in there especially since it’s such a thick consistency. You’re better off rinsing with cold water

Also, this was so beautiful, you’re such a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you, Shell, you have just given me inspiration. Patience is key. I had long beautiful hair. I was going to the shop getting my hair done every 2 weeks for 2 years. I trusted my beautician to the fact that she gave me a whoop bob cut hairstyle she wanted to do and hid her work by giving me curl so I do not notice that she did a big whop, said my hair was breaking so that led me to understand that couldn't be possible no longer have her as my hairdresser, been about 10 months now. Starting over from scratch I can no longer see the color in my hair now all I see is the new growth. I had braids for a year now, so now I am going all naturally with the short, beautiful curls. I love your hair I also have 4 c hair love how you too said you went from short now to long. Keep up the inspiration love all your videos. Cheers:)

I think after watching multiple and multiple videos the thing I came out with is that the key to grow a healthy natural hair is to just take care of it, yes genes and products may affect the process but simply giving your hair the space to live and absorb natural care helps it more than anything, I'm going through this process, I'll put more care and love into my hair and try more natural stuff and I hope the next time i come back here I'll be having a much better hair

I'm a 13-year-old girl who has gone through a super crazy hair journey and I'm really trying to grow my hair out now!!
So the story is when I was younger I wasn't growing any hair so My mom would always take care of my hair, yes my hair grew but she would apply heat and blow dry it every week, yes my hair was super long but the heat would always hurt my scalp and it also messed with my curl pattern. so I decided when I was 11 to completely go natural it was the worst idea ever in my entire life and I regret it with everything I have. And I went natural during quarantine. I didn't know how to take care of my own hair and I hadn't trimmed it or anything during the entire 2 years I was natural and after I straightened it for the first time It was shorter than before which had me confused because I never cut it. Now I've been struggling to grow out my hair and simply don't have time anymore. I really want longer curly hair because I have 4a, 3c hair and I just want to show my curls but my shrinkage is crazy and it will go all the way to my scalp even though my hair actually goes to my shoulders! If you have any product recommendations I would appreciate it with my entire being, thank youu!

I love to see that you are using gel! I hear negativity about hair gel lol but it’s like one of the few products that lock moisture in for me. And I love that the styles you recommended show off your natural curls! I don’t see a lot of naturals recommending wash n gos and puffs. Puffs are my go to, but a lot of naturals say you must put it in braids or twists and I don’t have time for that every week 😂

I love the new trend to support classifying our hair.
To have learned that my hair is High Porosity, with sparse density and 3b, 3c, 4a, 4b textures combined has been a lifesaver.
Hehe, as much as I love it, things really changed with all my Silver coming in. I'm pushing 70.
Regular trims, sporting Protective Styles, spritzing with water regularly, and oiling has helped restore my thinning head of hair. The Doctor said it was age-related. Oh pleeze! I just knew better, at the least, that this was not the whole truth.
I've been using homemade ACV on my hair, and still looking at Rosemary and rice waters. Castor Oil seems to be a secret weapon, for me, supporting once more, healthy hair. I am definitely experiencing huge improvement and yes, peace of mind. Whoo-hoo;0)
I'm still working on a Leave-in Conditioner. Yogurt, honey and egg have worked wonderfully on my face, moisturizing beautifully. In the past, it's worked nicely as a rinse-out conditioner. The journey continues.
Thank you for your vid. It's all so helpful with respect to this hair journey.

Coming from experience, you don’t want to relax your hair. Relaxing my hair only helped with breakage and these fake hairs that kept growing on top of my natural hair. Only recently my mother trimmed my hair and now I’m finally retaining length. My hair has grown about 0.8cm.
Keep in mind that my mom used to be a hairdresser and she still managed to make my hair like how it was

Hi Thank You SOOOO Much for this video. I have one question. Have you tried the aussie miracle coils conditioner? Im asking because while using aussie I have notices that my have is shedding ALOT when I as washing my hair, and its only with these products it has never done the before. My ultimate question is do you have/had these same results with any of the other aussie products and what are your thoughts on this.

    • @SimplyShell417
      @SimplyShell417  ปีที่แล้ว +1

No i havent tried the aussie coils, I usually stick to what i know and what works for me. If your hair is shedding more than usual it could have a protein overload. Tooo much moisture can cause breakage as well
