I'm just half way catching up on the videos, but you guys are amazing!! Thanks for the support after Maria and Irma! PR is improving bit by bit... Question on this video, @ 12:45, what did you put in the coffee?
@@chantellehouston4086 🤣🤣 As and avid coffee enthusiast I'm really curious as to what that is. I've never seen that done... looked like cheese to me, that's why I asked... LOL..
To help fellow future coffee enthusiasts out. Colombians make a sweet coffee with Panela (aka Piloncillo, unrefined whole cane sugar) although grating it straight into the coffee grounds is kind of like making US Southern Sweet Tea(Tea brewed with supersaturation of sugar); it's an acquired taste. Because of how "raw" Panela is, it tends to have a pronounced molasses flavor somewhere between brown sugar and molasses depending on how dark the "brick" is. Panela also retains minerals and amino acids that are removed during the refining process of white sugar, so it can actually impart its own unique flavor.
Sailing Uma really should be one of the top youtube channels. You two do such a good job with the content and the editing. I love Thursdays because I get my dose of Sailing Uma and FollowtheBoat 😊
3:32. Dan, Kika... give us a few more of those moments. Ahhh, mi amour! Takes me back to my days in the sunshine of youth and the times with my woman. (God rest her soul) Treasure these days and your love for each other. Someday these memories will give you great comfort. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share your adventures. Heaven holds a special place for folks like u! :)))
My wife and I LOVE your child like wonder for everything you experience. We hope you don't let the world crush that out of you. Looking forward to pulling to an anchorage someday and finding you guys there. 'Till then, Peace.
Hey guys, another great video. The hammock above the stream looked pretty cool, and the mountains are so beautiful, thank you so much for sharing. Smooth sailing ⛵
Wow I just finished watching the whole enchilada (your binge) and am so glad I did. If I hadn’t watched the beginning I could not have understood what your relationship really is and how you got this idea. I’m enjoying following you and wish you well on your way. I look forward to each new installment of your adventure
Very Nice and peaceful. I had the old lady fix me some coffee ☕️ at 13:03 lol. Delicious. Nothing like fresh coffee and I bet that grade A coffee y’all had was off the chain. Be safe out there y’all. May the most high be with y’all always. ✌️
Love it guys! I stay almost exclusively in hostels when I travel for the exact reason that your guys discovered in this step! Thanks for being such a great team! Cheers!
Mcmikel61 I also hate running out of coffee and demand a good cup every morning. I am an old guy who stumbled across your channel. I love what you folks are doing and so enjoy what you choose to share. You are both about the age of my guys, so it is sort of amazing to see you sharing so much so openly and honestly. Best wishes to you both. Mike
Way high up in the mountains on the road to Bucaramanga, there is a town called Pamploma like in Spain. It is on the altiplano and it is cold there. They make the most colorful and amazing clothes there. It is my favorite place in all of Colombia. I enjoyed seeing you two kiss under the waterfall. What a wonderful couple you are.
One of you best videos ever! We are a cruising family of 4 and we are in Grenada right now. I thing you just gave us reason to go to Columbia on our way to Panama. Thanks a lot.
Great video as usual! Thank you! Just an FYI: coffee is at its peak 7-12 days from the day it's roasted. After that, coffee begins to lose its flavors and aromas and after a month it's definitely no longer fresh.
Great video. Such a wonderful adventure that you have shared with us. Things that we would have never thought about being in Colombia. Look forward to your next adventures. Good sailing.
WOW . An absolutely amazing episodes. And I just made it to the coffee part. I did see a tour of the Geisha plantation though. But, I really liked the way you did this video. You should take the opportunity of getting raw beans and roasting in a frying pan on the deck ! The smell is outrages, and the freshness reminds me of walking into a Swedish bakery early in the morning. In the states they want a lot for unroasted beans, but there at the plantation I'll be its a good deal ! PS the Geisha Plantation was south on the Atlantic side in Panama, I'm pretty sure. Easily accessible from one of the ports.
Columbia and Ecuador (& S.A.) have awesome and cheap hostels. $60 is actually on the high side but that was a special location. Hiking/ walking S.A. is very very cheap. Much slower and more leisurely than sailing.
Great day to you. I have been watching with my girl for weeks. I never comment on TH-cam but I just had to speak up. Great JOB!! You folks are the ants, uma is your leaf and I am bending down and filming you as you walk across the world. You inspire and keep me on the path. One day soon I will be making videos inspired by you about my hot air ballooning adventures. Great editing. Great voice over. Great channel. Thank Thank Thank you Super Team D&K!
Honestly Dan!,,,I have seen you fix and fabricate all kinds of stuff. But I never want to see you on the back of another mans motorcycle again!! LOL Love you two! Big love from Canada.
Haha! Yeah, next time we'll just rent our own. But they wanted way too much money for them, AND they wouldn't let you keep it overnight. SO we were stuck getting a ride.... :(
Wow what a super awesome video thanks so much for sharing everything you're doing I really found the making of all the coffee process really fascinating and as I and my two children sit here in my easy chair watching your videos I can't help but think about the story that you told about the guy that said don't buy the couch.... my chair is that couch lol... and believe it or not I have my 65 foot steel vessel out on anchor up in the Delta just floating there while I'm sitting here on this stupid chair like a bump on a stump... I'm either going to throw this chair out the door or load it in the truck and take it up to the boat and get back on the boat and start having our own Adventures again lol
Dan!!! Is that you?? I've watched every episode of your channel and just put it all together in Step 104. This entire time you've looked strangely familiar and now I know why. ANC...!!!!! Love your channel and you are living my dream.
So much potential there. Santa Marta has grown a lot since I was there 20yrs ago, I remember there was only one tall'ish building at the time.. What did you grate into the cafetiare, ginger?
So enjoy seeing you and your travel adventures. The moto-cab was something new to me. Have either of you experienced any health issues from the "exotic" diet?
AWESOME video kids!!!!! I use to love #1 grade Colombian coffee back when I could drink coffee and could afford top shelf coffee beans.... It's hard to find ANY coffee shops around here that use #1 grade coffee... Even Starbucks uses low grade coffee beans. But they charge you top shelf coffee prices!!!!! Go figure... It's good to see you kids having so much fun!!! Be safe and be blessed... BBE..
The hiking video of my beloved sailing channels are always the least favorite videos to watch. Having said that I enjoyed this one a lot. Maybe it was the fantastic places you shared with us. Awesome.
I think I might have to steal that hammock idea ... so so cool 😎 I love Columbian coffee 💗💗 it's a shame they only get to keep 30% for domestic use ... I guess the export market must be hard to compete with.
Watch out Delos and Vagabonde crews, Uma is coming for ya! Well done! Been watching since Step 1!

irrelavant13 yes Uma is the best
As I was stretching to reach something, I caught myself singing, 'Yoga Dan, yoga Dan,...' so thanks SO much for that...
When Kika says "I can do that", in minutes she is right in the waterfall. #No Braggadocio. I love it!

What an awesome adventure you two had hiking to the Coumbian water fall and hiking to the coffee bean plantation. One of my favorites.

I thought he looked a little stoned at that moment.

That was gorgeous and amazing! It's awesome that $60 got you all that.
Colombia is a beautiful country , you won't be disappointed .

Excellent episode :)

I loved Minca, next time, go stay at Sol de Minca, an awesome family-run permaculture retreat built entirely from eco-construction methods.

After seeing Columbia I am so happy I moved to Chile.

Colombians love their "tinto", a strong, dark, sweet coffee served in a small cup.
Красивое видео, спасибо!
Really digging the videos, guys. Silly question: what is that you're grating at 12:46?
Stu I have the same question…

What informational resources do you use to find cool attractions like this hostel?
Mostly local knowledge from when we meet people in places we go. But also: google !
Did you grate cheese on the coffee?
